    Nice setup. If people don't like it, the they can always do it how they wish. I like that you test your gear, I don't think most take the time to do it.

    Is the mpi stock with the money ? I have the same gun and caliber and is really picky with ammo . Wondering if that stock would help the groups ? I really like the feel and fit of the factory stock .

    Did you get the XTB Sako 85 base that slides over the dovetail?

    Do you have any problems with the spent cartridge hitting the underside of the scope on your 85. Some people are reporting that they have ejection problems that seem to be caliber related. I really want the 85 Grey Wolf, but don't want the ejection issues. Apparently when the spent case hits the underside of the scope, it will fall back into the action. Thanks.

    • @micus09
      @micus09  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, I have heard of this problem before as well. I have had 5 different scopes on my finn, no problems and I love the action.

    • @jimdent351
      @jimdent351 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@micus09 Thanks for the reply. I'm wondering if this is an old problem and Sako has quietly fixed it. Most of the threads on the different forums are quite old. Still I'm nervous to spend that kind of money now.

    • @micus09
      @micus09  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jimdent351 I dont blame you man they sure dont give them away thats for sure. My friend/co worker has had a couple Sakos and he tells me the problem was only ever a wsm cartridge family problem. Also, I think people are used to the Remington style spring plunger ejector that flings a cage without much user input. The 85 is more like a mauser in that, the shell ejects out as hard proportionately to how hard you cycle the bolt. Good luck with whatever you choose.

    • @jimdent351
      @jimdent351 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@micus09 Thanks for replying again. From my research, it seems that it's not just caliber related. It has to do with the use of the same extractor for all calibers. One person who clams to have fixed his rifle by shrinking the extractor. He did this by removing it and lightly striking it with a hammer to reduce the gap between the inside of the claw and the bolt face. I don't know if he's being honest or not, but it sounds reasonable. He claims that the gap between the face of the bolt and the extractor is the same for all calibers, but the rim thickness varies, thus causing extraction issues for some rifles.

    Before you got the sako finnlight did you consider a trg-s (m995), sako 75 or 85? I like the trg-s myself. Womdering why you went that route.

    • @micus09
      @micus09  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there. It is made by a company called mpi out of Oregon . Only mpi and McMillan make stocks for the sako 85 as far as I know. But if you want the McMillan you have to send your rifle un to them for fitment.

    Very sweet setup. Curious...If Burris makes the 2 piece XTB for a Sako dovetail, what made you decide to get your receiver machined to fit the tikka mounts? I am thinking of setting up my finnlight similar to yours. Thanks!

    • @micus09
      @micus09  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pedro. No, they dont make the xtb for the dovetail, I had it machined just to open up mounting options, theres just so much more out there once you ditch dovetail. The rings are mediums, I loooove them. Good luck this season and take care !

    Is the distance from the front of the trigger guard to the end of the stock shorter on the MPI than the original Sako stock?

    • @micus09
      @micus09  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a fantastic question man. I never measured, feels about equal

    • @markburr4953
      @markburr4953 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@micus09 There are some Stock companies that to lessen weight they will shorten the stock. On some rifles this makes the rifle look like it has an exceptionally long barrel. From what I can see in the video this is not the case with MPI. I just bought a Finnlight .243 (6lbs 1oz) and would like to lose 6-8oz). I have a Kimber Adirondack that really is 4lbs 11oz. Lightweight does make a difference when you walk up and down mountains.

    • @micus09
      @micus09  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markburr4953 oh yah, 100% If you're going uphill for 2-3 hr stretches you start to resent every ounce. Atleast I do, maybe I should just get in better shape lol. The Adirondack is the king of lightweight factory rifles. I was thinking of buying one in .308 before spending the money on the finnlight mods.
