Ever been so awestruck and delighted by something that you burst out laughing from sheer happiness? That's me right now.
Been in one his concerts, and my sister who was there was with me - just couldn't understand why I'm bursting in laughter every once in awhile. Totally and utterly get you.
Understandable. Had that same experience while reading Emile Zola’s Ladies Paradise, happened about 3-4 times.
This performance by Tigran’s trio seems worthy of a few bouts of laughter - amazing composition.
This is just awe inspiring to me, the only time I have that feeling you have is with the band Vildhjarta, very different type of music but the same emotion that it invokes in me. Just being super happy and almost manic as it's so ridiculously good.

Some are very gifted in musical composition and are given the right path to success.
@@MetalheadDoon Yes. Some are indeed. But it is not just about being "gifted". I mean the opportunity to get there is definitely something that was given to them. But these guy have also paid the price to get where they are, you don't get that good without spending the hours. So it is a gift that you have to pay for, and that reminds me of a comment from Flea when he talked about Jaco Pastorius, where he basically said that when you get THAT good, there has to be repercussions on the other aspects of your life. Tigran is so focussed on music... Always has been.

Yeah it sounds fucking dope. Pulling audio from a live gig and making it sound good on headphones isn't as simple as people often think. Probably sounded fucking amazing live too.
The level of reverb is a bit annoying (especially on the drums), but that's probably the room
Those transitions between G minor and E minor... those transitions between 5-7, 4-5 and 3-4 metric systems... the transitions. The transitions are everything.
Most people have no idea how vital timing and rhythm are to musical composition. Pure crushing sickness! 😳

@@pranaymo Well duh... ;) That's a vacuous truth. In this instance the groupings of 16ths are 5 + 5 +7 +5 + 5 + 5 = 32/16, or 2 bars of 4/4. You can feel the entire thing in 4/4 (which is what the band probably does, same with tunes like Vardavar). It doesn't make too much sense to me to try and feel it in mixed/alternating meter.

Yesterday I sent Tigran's link to an Indonesian poet. She was very surprised, how could She not know this very poetic music. Tigran's composer, according to her, is very poetic.

Listened to this song and actually the last three songs on this album dozens and dozens of times. Just the best thing to happen to music in a very very long time.
The travel of to negate to out of the grid is just something I cant express, the full mockroot álbum but that 3 in the end, it is just amazing, I cant even say in words how complete, how intense in a positive way i fell

Beautiful music. I first heard of Tigran Hamasyan on an album by Dhaffer Yussef called 'Abu Nawas Rhapsody' which featured him on piano. Absolutely beautiful playing. I'm really hooked on his style and this particular genre of modern jazz fusion.

Kleff Tan As someone who actually practices jazz, you’re wrong. No note alone is wrong but music is made with intentions and made sense of by context. Tigran did not intend to play that bum note because all the other repeats of that section on this live performance, others and the studio recording do not have this variation and it is not consistent with his style. Even when players go “outside” there is still a logic to what is played even if they are not consciously aware of it themselves. Jazz isn’t wrong notes, it’s the freedom to choose your own notes with respect to context and your own intentions in the moment.

Think of Tigran, who has to do the rhythm with his left hand, amidst playing the complex harmonies and melody. Really top level musicians
yeah and its mainly the (really nice) ability to feel that times. and time changes are connected to melody parts or harmonic progressions. they are no professional "counters"

It may be classified as Jazz or Fusion, but my opinion is : no need to know the genre... just listen to everything by this guy, he's a whole musical universe by himself :D
