I really enjoy this tune a lot. Even though I like the other ones about as much, this tune is so appropriate for winter. You can really feel how harsh the winter is, and it really gives the feeling of a struggle, a slow, painful one that is. But it still feels like I got to keep going, and so I do, in this harsh, frozen realm.

Favorite Don't Starve BGM by far. It's fascinating, it's almost a whimsical sense of hopelessness. It's as if it's saying, "I'm going to die, but why not make the most of the time I have left?" Very characteristic of the game as a whole. Damn you Maxweeeeelllll!!

I feel that this song does a fantastic job of capturing the stress and lethargic attitude one must adopt when their life appears to be at its end, or futile. While it was harrowing and added to my stress, oddly enough, it inspired me to keep pushing on regardless.

The Heat Stone is excellent for when you're completely exposed to the cold, and it tells you approximately how long you've got until you start freezing. When it's green or blue, it's time to get a fire started! Even when bundled up and able to keep heat levels in mind, it's handy for changing from warm clothes to combat armor without chaining you to the vicinity of a campfire. It's not something I'd ever leave on the floor, it would go in a chest next to a stony fireplace where it can be warmed up, clutter-free and safe from Lureplants.
Im used wormwood survived many winters using stockpiles of seeds to grow plentiful fruits maybe not this winter though fire hound burned down 2 of my forests and fruits
I think the best part of this theme is the setting. As soon as Winter hits, the sound & music muffles just a bit to emphasize that it's cold as fuck out. You won't ever find another game that does the smaller things like that that make it feel real.
I find this somewhat ominous :/ It makes me feel a little uneasy when this plays, When I'm collecting firewood, it just starts, maybe its just the way the the games tends to just save, making it feel like, something is coming my way :/

It is really a shame that the "Work" music only plays during the day. You don't get to hear this one that much because it's nearly always Dusk or Night during Winter.
This my most favored theme so far, every day it would play and as the season dragged on, resources of the region dwindling. hope vanishing and constant insanity. Every time this theme played, it made me feel dread, and sorrow for the hardship, struggle and anxiety of planning what today's move would be in order to make it just one more night. Living off the conveniences of my past decisions, stock piling seeds and having 2 silk in my chest for a bird trap. Night after night being a close call, gang penguins letting me take their dead eggs last minute. Early on, making fish sticks claiming them to be the last snacks I would enjoy before my fate. One night, eating monster lasagna in conjunction with a raw blue cap and a cooked green cap to see sunrise once more. Sanity meter capturing my measure of hope, dropping to coming back up through triumph and success and back to 0 from the uncertainty of the next night to come. Never catching my breath as time and time again my hunger would hit 0. Living off the durability of a bird trap that would eventually hit 0. Out I went into the caves, remembering there to be freshly grown berries. Alas, one more night had passed. Outside I found the snow dripping away, I rejoice before freezing and being attacked by rock spiders and normal. I awoke at a touchstone where base had been set, I wake up fully charged with lightning, in a rage to have revenge on the beast that finished me off. Grabbing my last tentacle spike and armor, I went back and destroyed the spider nest using my overcharged status. I come back out of the cave, to find my berry bushes producing food at last. Winter had finally come to pass. And on that very day, I had finally met my fate. Best run at the time with WX.
The moment Winter happened, that was about when I died. Even in a different playthrough where I had Summer as my first harsh season, I was able to survive for several days. (I play Reign of Giants mainly.)

I only heard this song while playing through the storymode/maxwell world thing because I kept getting the permanent winter level, and because winter is the worst, I was usually very low on sanity with then led to this song having a Pavlov effect on me because this song plays when you do stuff like chop wood or build, and in winter if you aren't prepared you are completely insane, or about to be, and the way storymode is set up you have literally nothing, so insanity was a default state, and since I heard this song a lot, and you have to micro manage your sanity a lot more than normal, I eventually started associating this song with _very_ low sanity, like ~15% because I'm so bad the game and I had to _constantly_ check it.. When I finally reached winter in a sandbox world my stress levels reached peak when it played, I only realized it was the working theme when I decide to look through the OST lol.
Man on my first worlds I'd always hated winter. It felt impossible to survive all 20 days of it. Now it's a piece of cake what with Hurricane, Summer, and Lush season to deal with now.
The worst thing is when you didn't play for a while and you are just entering you old world and you always have to be productive in this game but because you didn't play for a long time you die so always before entering your old world just make another world and practice there
This song is chill in two ways. Cool relaxing chill vibes as you gather more firewood. Or it's like yup this thing is spine chilling as if the game knows how harsh the dst is and it's telling you to just give up now!! 'Cause it only gets worse by each season...
I started playing this game a couple days ago and i can't make it out of winter. Not because of food nor dogs, but because of my sanity I die to my demons everytime
Try to maybe search for green mushrooms, if you cook them they give you a fair bit of sanity but take away small amounts of health. But it’s fairly easy to offset. You could also try to dry some meat into jerky with drying racks, eating that will also restores sanity. If all else fails, try your best to bait out the nightmare creatures’ attacks to fight them. If they die, that’ll restore sanity as well. It’s best to fight them one on one.
The best part of playing Wickerbottom is that, after doing some Krampus Sack farming, you get showered with charcoal so winter becomes a big "meh". Still fun farming Nightmare Fuel though.
This is 2nd place to spring's music but that means it's GREAT does anyone else get a bit of a Banjo-Tooie vibe from this? Like a mixture of Icy Side and Sprial Mountain maybe.
I've just started living through my first winter as Wickerbottom but then I did stockpile 10 chests full of rabbits during the summer. Tip: don't kill them at first, just put them in the chests even if they take up room because in the end, it's worth it! I fear about the deerclops though.
That's smart actually! They don't stack, but hey at least they won't spoil while alive. I just got into Don't Starve recently, and the lack of winter food options kills me

I only heard this song while playing through the storymode/maxwell world thing because I kept getting the permanent winter level, and because winter is the worst, I was usually very low on sanity with then led to this song having a Pavlov effect on me because this song plays when you do stuff like chop wood or build, and in winter if you aren't prepared you are completely insane, or about to be, and the way storymode is set up you have literally nothing, so insanity was a default state, and since I heard this song a lot, and you have to micro manage your sanity a lot more than normal, I eventually started associating this song with _very_ low sanity, like ~15% because I'm so bad the game and I had to _constantly_ check it.. When I finally reached winter in a sandbox world my stress levels reached peak when it played, I only realized it was the working theme when I decide to look through the OST lol.
Man on my first worlds I'd always hated winter. It felt impossible to survive all 20 days of it. Now it's a piece of cake what with Hurricane, Summer, and Lush season to deal with now.

The worst thing is when you didn't play for a while and you are just entering you old world and you always have to be productive in this game but because you didn't play for a long time you die so always before entering your old world just make another world and practice there

I started playing this game a couple days ago and i can't make it out of winter. Not because of food nor dogs, but because of my sanity
I die to my demons everytime
Try to maybe search for green mushrooms, if you cook them they give you a fair bit of sanity but take away small amounts of health. But it’s fairly easy to offset. You could also try to dry some meat into jerky with drying racks, eating that will also restores sanity.
If all else fails, try your best to bait out the nightmare creatures’ attacks to fight them. If they die, that’ll restore sanity as well. It’s best to fight them one on one.

The best part of playing Wickerbottom is that, after doing some Krampus Sack farming, you get showered with charcoal so winter becomes a big "meh". Still fun farming Nightmare Fuel though.
I always enjoyed playing with plain old Wilson, especially after Willow burned down my base a few days before Deerclops.

I've just started living through my first winter as Wickerbottom but then I did stockpile 10 chests full of rabbits during the summer. Tip: don't kill them at first, just put them in the chests even if they take up room because in the end, it's worth it! I fear about the deerclops though.
That's smart actually! They don't stack, but hey at least they won't spoil while alive. I just got into Don't Starve recently, and the lack of winter food options kills me
*Tip: Don't forget to craft the temperature rock for both winter and summer, you need uhhh 20 rocks I think and one pickaxe and there you go.*
