I don’t get it. You were asked to imagine. You were asked to imagine. You say that openly. This wasn’t anything you observed. This wasn’t anything you sensed. This didn’t happen in the real world. This is what you were asked to imagine yourself. You yourself produced these things. This is the oldest trick in the book. You’re asked to imagine things. We did the exact same thing in my studying for confirmation: We were asked to write down a prayer, and then we were asked to turn the paper and imagine what God would answer. And at first I thought that was interesting, but then I thought about it. Why on Earth would the priest ask _us_ to _imagine_ what God says? This is a god, can’t he just say it? I had to ask this question: If I am the one asked to imagine these things, then not only does that indicate that I am making it all up, but is this priest actually telling me that he does _not_ believe in a god that really exists and can really answer prayers?
If this god really existed, it could do anything. Not just give you a feeling of peacefulness, and not just wait for you to imagine things and produce it all. You could have prayed for this god to elevate you to his dimension for a discussion. This god could have come to you. But you imagined him ... in your head. Everything about your story demonstrates that you are the cause of it. Not that you yourself made it up deliberately. But people know how to explore these things about the human mind. And asking people to imagine it is the oldest trick in the book. Happened to me too. Derren Brown is a magician who can easily replicate it, and as you can hear in his video (watch?v=51B8MzcxOX0&) he asking her to imagine the perfect father figure is strikingly similar to you being asked to imagine being in God’s presence.
And already, guilt has been established in you. Even if this was all true, God is the one with all the time and power on his hands. You are the limited being with a limited knowledge, with limited time in every sense, you can’t do everything, let alone at once, you can’t. Yet God has all the power, all the time, doesn’t have to also maintain his existence and hunt for resources or financial support or anything. He can stop time for everyone and everything else in the universe and focus on you, a young confused man with thoughts to end his life, and yet ... according to you ... he blamed you. He blamed you for - supposedly - having created you limited in every possible way, but he still expects that you find time and ability to find him the supernatural agent who could do anything for you with absolutely zero cost and zero effort. Is that your fault? I’ve been though suicide thoughts too. So I know that you think little of yourself. You see no self worth. You beat yourself for things you’ve done or even things you haven’t done. Perfect timing for establishing the feeling of guilt if the religious people come to you. Perfect timing. I have to say.
From what you say, I can’t hear that anything divine happened to you. You were asked to imagine something and you did; that’s not real. And you felt things like peace and guilt, that’s not real. And you say you heard God talk to you. Honestly. I don’t believe that. I think you heard a voice in your head. I think it was a voice inside your own head that you therefore can easily generate yourself. Was it an audible voice? One you could in theory have recorded on tape? One that the other people outside the room could and would have heard too? Or was it in your head? Was it in your voice too? Your language? Your accent? Your tempo? Was everything about God’s voice your voice?
I’m sorry, and I know that people have the right to believe whatever they want to. And perhaps this was a youtube profile dedicated to simply sharing your faith with others who believe. I don’t tend to contact them. I contact people who already reach out to nonbelievers, with tags and search words like “atheist” or “nonbeliever”. Because I try to not disturb the private right to believe. But you did share it on an open forum, and so I don’t feel too bad for sharing my honest evaluation of it. And everything about it screams to me that you made it all up. Not deliberately by choice. But that this has all been produced by your mind.
