  • GA4 has a bunch of metrics to track engagement. Learn more about them in this video.
    In this tutorial, I will cover:
    * Engagement rate
    * Average engagement time
    * Engaged sessions
    * Engaged sessions per user, and more.
    You will learn what those metrics are and where to find them in the Google Analytics 4 interface.

    Hey, can you tell if 'average engagement time per session' is also related to to engaged session difinition?

    thanks for this video, the things you can do with GA4 are very impressve. What I searched for sadly I haven't found, hope you can help. When I have 15 users in a day that visit my website I want to see the engagement time from every visitor, not the average time. In UA that was available but I can't find it in GA4

    Hello, your videos are extremely helpful! I wanted to ask, do you have a video on how to create triggers for these GA4 engagement metrics in GTM to optimise towards in platforms like Google Ads?

    They are still counting 10 sec as engagement despite changing it to 60 sec. I thought the no. of engaged sessions would get lower after changing it.

      It means you chose some other options while creating a new property. Then just keep looking for other reports that contain engagement metrics

  • @AdamFordGhostships
    @AdamFordGhostships 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm tearing my hair out. There is no equivalent metric yet for per session goal value, which is the only properly nuanced way of measuring traffic quality.
    They made this a central feature of the last platform, and there's an entire industry built around this. So where is the metric in the new platform?? Who is actually developing this new platform and what on earth are they using for a brain?? Do Google ever consult with anyone or just permanently pull crap that suits only themselves out of their own arseholes?

    • @AnalyticsMania
      @AnalyticsMania  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since GA4 calculates conversions not "once per session" but "once per event" in that case, the metric is "event value". It can be send to GA4 together with an event (e.g. with conversion event) and also a currency parameter should be included. Then that "Event value" metric can be used in various reports. For example, you can customize standard traffic acquisition reports and include "Event value" as one of the metrics there and see which sources are with highest values.
      But unfortunately, this is not something available out of the box (which is shame because people now need to spend much more time learning how to properly customize GA4).

    • @AdamFordGhostships
      @AdamFordGhostships 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnalyticsMania yes but how do we measure traffic quality per session - there's no way of guaging overall traffic performance by accumulated event values per session. You can send event values with the current analytics, but you get an accumulated session event value based on that. They need to recreate this in the new platform or it is useless for marketers. How can they not see this?

    • @AnalyticsMania
      @AnalyticsMania  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have already explained how to see value accumulated per session and traffic source. Or maybe I just don't understand what you are asking.
      You can build a report where the dimension is "session source/medium" (for example) and one of the metrics is Event value. That metric will aggregate all values and split it based on traffic source.

    • @AdamFordGhostships
      @AdamFordGhostships 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnalyticsMania OK that sounds like what I am looking for, I think I need to explore further into the reports because I swear I couldn't make it report like that. Maybe I didn't have enough event value in my data. You could then presumably create a custom metric for event value/sessions and also use that in reports?

    • @AnalyticsMania
      @AnalyticsMania  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cannot think of any way in GA4 UI to have a metric such as value/sessions. The report that I have previously explained would just show a total value per each traffic source.
