    I was always taught for 100yd zero 1.5 inches high so dead on hold to 200yds then!🧐🤔Still a good instructive video!👍

      Not a bad policy at all, I still use it myself when I am not using a ballistic turret. Incidentally 1.5 inches gives you about a 150yd zero. Thanks for watching.

      Depends on bullet speed/drop.

    Few other things:
    1. You should zero in with the ammo you plan to hunt with. Different ammo acts differently in different rifles. Look for tight grouping- scope can be adjusted, wide grouping can't be adjusted.
    2. Zero in with suppressor/no suppressor setup that you hunt with. Suppressor slightly changes point of impact.
    3. Double check screws that hold your scope in place before zeroing in. Large calibres can move your scope if it's not tightly on.
    4. Zeroing in depends on distance/rifle/ammo you hunt with. Most people go for 100m or 200m.
    5. A good hunting rifle/ammo/scope setup should give you at least the grouping you saw on the video but you should expect better at 100m.

    If I had a secure rifle mount like that I would just adjust the cross hairs to where the first shot hit.

    • @peterjones4442

      The 'One shot zero' and its perfect if your rifle is secure, in say a 'lead sled' otherwise the rifle tends to move to much.

    I was always taught to put the scope on full magnification first to get zero, then reduce the magnification to suit

    Just because it was zero'd off a bench vice doesn't mean that zero will be the same off sticks, prone or other positions because the recoil will be different. You have to zero a rifle from the firing position you use the most.

      @johnstacy7902 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should practice shooting you gun off sticks but you really do need ot zero off the Sled

      You do realize the bullet is already out of the barrel, before the rifle recoils....

    • @allandobbs7059
      @allandobbs7059 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and moderator and bipod all change point of impact.

      Sorry Dan but with super sonic calibres, you're mistaken. By the time the recoil is taking effect the bullet has already left the muzzle.

    • @horseguy1230
      @horseguy1230 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I generally hate negative comments here, however Dan is correct, although at 100 m or so the difference may not be all that much. At longer ranges though, inconsistencies in recoil management can make a significant difference - this is why a zero on a particular rifle may vary for different shooters. The Lead sled may make things nice and easy to line up but they can be very hard on rifles and scopes, particularly with heavier calibres. Its much better to use a bipod (or front bag) and rear bag. That way the rifle can recoil in a more natural way, with less strain on the rifle and components.

    How far was the target

  • @harduveli
    @harduveli 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's the way to do it here in UK. In America they have a different method. They use an M249, drop 200 rounds towards the target and job done. They have it zeroed, oned and so on up to two hundreded in a few seconds. Anyway, I don't own a gun as the only reason to have one would be to be able to carry it and defend myself, my family and my property. Not possible in UK. Just to shoot a piece of paper or a rabbit which didn't do any wrong to me... that I find illogical.

      @@Kriptoker Not so. Rifles, shotguns.....both can be owned and kept at home. I've five at the moment ranging from a high-powered air rifle to a .308. All of them also have moderators (suppressors) fitted, I think those are banned in some States in the US.

      Highway Concepts, yes you can own a firearm with the appropriate license.
      And guess what, our kids can go to school without fear of being shot by another classmate, teacher or cleaner.
      Also the cops can pull over a car knowing there isn’t a cocked pistol in the glove compartment, centre console, or door panel.
      And no, the Brits are not jealous of your gun laws.
