I noticed the provincial parks are blaming campers for the like 100 fires but I doubt campers visiting the parks had anything to do with these fires. There are generally fire bans and these fires are not in the parks. There are too many fires for the current conditions. Summer just started. The air has been dry but not for all that long and we had rain. These fires were also predicated ahead of time which I find a bit strange. How can we know how many accidental fires could start. We should be able to track to see if any were started by lighting. We have so many satellites recording all the time. There is noting going on outside that doesn't have a camera on it from orbit. These satellites can see closer than the public is even allowed to view and in real time also. Law enforcement can pay for it but generally don't get funding for it.
Dry heat can do that! When I was little we were surrounded by trees and one day there was a forest fire that was a good mile away from the property line. My mom and dad saw the smoke coming over the pine trees. We were evacuated for a couple days for safety and then returned home. The fire was fully out and the charred ground was almost 500 feet to the property line. They believe it was started from a broken glass bottle.
It doesn't take much dry air to start a fire. Fire watches or "fire weather watch" are issued when conditions are favorable for wildfires to spark and spread quickly.
