The awesome power of the Earth is most fascinating. I am crazy to trek down into Kawah Ijen on Java all the way down to the vent and acid bomb lake where yellow sulfur rocks are harvested by slaves, but not as crazy as these guys to rappel down into a red hot volcano throat. It is stunningly terrifying and aborting mission was a smart move with a new vent opening up shooting lava bombs. Nothing grows in such a caldera for it's toxic and hostile to all life.
Guess that what fascinated me the most was the love he had for Earth and its geology. The risks he takes to have the chance to study it, and also the respect and knowledge he tries to give to it. Also like the ideia of studying how magnectic field actually works, because it hasn't been found for sure yet. Great passion, Aldo Kane and all the team behind the project.
This documentary is full of so much things that you had never known before.... Totally loving this 😍 😍 thank you national geographic channel for those awesome documentaries......
lol yeah it is the new series "one strange rock" There are only a couple episodes released so far. But recommend you watch it. The premiere was visually similar to Samsara but this has scientists (and will smith😂) narrating
It takes an insurmountable amount of faith to believe this. People will invent anything to try to explain where we came from. So, I came from a rock? And all my organs and my thoughts and all the complexity in this university came from chance? It's almost impossible to believe.
A new vent so this volcano is unstable as well. What is going on. Today 7/5/2018 has the world on watch with Hawai’i big island under state of emergency and I just watched this video. I feel are in a unstable time.
Why will Smith? Anyone could have been better. We have to watch his workouts in the gym to watch the show? This is just a fuel for smiths employement. I want to see someone that is in the scientific community not a celebrity.
Mount Nyiragongo is home to one of the world’s largest and most volatile lava lakes. What do you find most fascinating about this volcano?
National Geographic this channel has like the best content of NGC and I love that! Thanks from Mexico!
erupted 34 times and volcano often in the form of a churning lava lake in the crater.
scientists explaining to me that lava is "intensely hot", thanks National Geographic, way to help out.

What is the soundtrack ?
Can you fly a drone to get a sample?
Sound is all good till the last music pops out! It’s too loud!

Hi guys
sorry, i think the description is misspelled. it should be Mount ‘Nyiragongo’
Huh?..
Where will you store the lava samples? In test-tubes?😕😕
Will Smith Narrating is the new "in" thing, step aside Morgan Freeman
How do they protect themselves from the harmful and toxic gases that are expelled out during the eruption?
O m g
How do volcanoes protect us from the sun??
You can see this in the 2nd episode of this documentary "one strange rock". Its totally worth it..
I watched it a two days back. This show is incredible. You can learn so much in only an hour.
We just got back from some volcanic ice caves. I uploaded the footage to my channel
The narrator sounds like Will Smith.
Not to mention the noxious fumes, yikes!
Oh just drop the GANDALFS ring it that vent .
