I would add and suggest the following to your very nice list: 1. Step down Travel transformer from Foreign 220 volts to USA 110 volts. 2. Lots of extra ziploc bags. 3. Clips to hang heavy shoes or other travel items from backpack or pant belt loops. 4. Loose motion pills, Loperamide, aspirin, paracetamol etc. 5. Digital weigh scale, a must! 6. Neck passport bag , also handy for aircraft use items ( sleep eye cover, headphones, pen, Equal, aspirin, 3 ziploc bags, air tickets). 7. Belt fanny pack ( invaluable wearable!), put any heavy items in it! 8. Neck pillow for airport, aircrafts, train and bus travel. 9. Special type of dual bungee cord for taking weight off shoulders, put backpack on wheels roller carry on. 10. Flyweight sac or large ziploc to put all items from pockets for airport check in (I've lost mercedes car keys in security line)... Trust me, this is invaluable !!

I would add: first aid kit, nylon poncho, parachute cord, flashlight, foam ear plugs, noise cancelling headphones, and a Kindle. On my next trip to Asia I am tempted to bring mask, fins, and snorkel. The problem with minimalist travel as you are older is that you often need more stuff to be healthy and comfortable and it can frequently take many hours/days to find these items in SE Asia.

Dan I can see people viewing this video a number of times because of the value of the content. You look as if you have been traveling for a hundred years. You have given us some tremendous information here in this video. I think for travellers this could be the most relevant video you have made so far. Dan, use a money belt. Best is McJim sold at Robinson's Manila. Leather, zippered 30-inch length to hide keys and almost 30x100USD bills. Drop heavy jeans. Use travel pants, zippered to convert to shorts. Still don't know best way to carry passport yet. Maybe hang around neck inside shirt.
Thanks for your thoughts! Hi LL Low, When you show up in a new town anywhere in the world, even the USA or Europe, you are at a disadvantage. I have a report that explains how I stay safe when I arrive in a place I am not familiar with yet. Here is a link to that report: vagabondbuddha.com/how-to-travel-the-world-safely/ Thanks for watching and commenting. It helps our business grow. Dan
Thanks for a truly useful video - Saved! I travel with a small electric kettle. It’s incredibly useful for boiling water for coffee, tea and instant soup anywhere, and for boiling water for tooth brushing or drinking. When packing I put socks and underwear in it so it doesn’t take up much room in my suitcase. It really improved the quality of my travel life.
Hello 30 And A Wake Up, thank you for your personal note of encouragement. It really does make a difference for us when we know people appreciate what we are doing. Where are you right now? I catch your videos every month or so. Your comments also cause TH-cam to show our video to more people so your note is like paying us a small tip $$ for our time. Thank you, Dan
Dan: thank you for posting this video of stuff you pack. My spouse and I travel 2 times a year to the home we own since 2021 in the Azores. A lot of what you carry is what we carry, tech and clothing. Since we have a home that we are traveling to , we already have clothing, shoes, refrigerator etc... at our home on the island. We just need to make sure special tools are acquired on the island or brought with us from the USA. We are leaving for the Azores in 3 days. So, we are going through all our todo lists to get ready. :) Thanks.
At first I thought you were a minimilist. The back pack was sensible. However. The suitcase, why bring, cutlery, knives scissors, razors, hair jel, electric shavers, pasta? You have adapters in the backpack as well as in the suitcase. You bring coffee to Guatemala? The backpack is minimilist. The suitcase is moving in. Like your videos. Went to Lake Attalain. Make certain to visit El Senor Mishimo. He will be in procession in towns around the lake.
Dan carries what you perceive to be not useful, but I am like Dan... we know that Murphy's Law kicks in everywhere... Something gets lost, something gets broken. Having backups in two places really can save your rear end. I am an old Eagle Boy Scout and it helps to "be prepared". Not only has it saved my 'rear end', I have helped other travelers who are at a loss. Choose for your self Johne1071 ... being a minimalist and a mindful minimalist are not the same. :)
HEY DAN WHEN I LEFT MAUI HAWAII, I LEFT WITH A MEDIUM CARY ON LUGGAGE AND A REGULAR SIZED BACKPACK AND THAT'S IT AND YES MY WALLET ALWAYS IN MY FRONT POCKET AND NOW I'LL CARRY A LET GO WALLET, WHICH YOU HAVE SUGGESTED AND BELIEVE TO BE A MUST FROM NOW ON. I THANK YOU GUY'S SO MUCH HOPE SOME DAY TO RUN INTO YOU GUY'S OUT THERE SOMEWHERE IN THIS VAST AND BEAUTIFUL EARTH. GOD BLESS.
I Love Your Videos!!! I Backpacked the world much like you for 18 years beginning in 1985. I can So Much Relate to your packing!!! My traveling before the digital world, I had to lug many pounds of film cameras. Keep Traveling, Enjoy Life. Now I just enjoy the Memories and photos I can share with stories for friends and family, and Love Retired living in Thailand. I Now Love Your Videos of places I have also been. I now encourage younger people to travel. Keep sharing. Blessings.
Going to keep this in my TH-cam folder "Long Term Keeper" so I can periodically review to get this subjectified into my subconscious. One obviously will make adjustments but this is a great checklist especially for a novice traveler like myself! Thank you so much that was a lot of extra effort for you! I really appreciate it! Sincerely, BM
Dan, been following you for some years. You mentioned neck problems. We use air neck pillows, which are incredible for comfort on airplanes and buses. Also, for your pillow, I had pillows issues. Sore neck, to big, outguessing issues etc. We use air pillows even at home on our bed. They are ergonomically designed with indented locations of different dimension on either side for specific choices of comfort. I used to have neck problems from pillows, but no longer. The amount of air in your pillow in controllable by you and is used to fine tune the pillow to your likeness. Takes seconds to blow them up. All this air based stuff started, because we were not happy with our home bed mattress. One thing led to another and we started to research back backing tech. This tech is tailor made for low weight, low spacial requirements. The air mattress is the best sleep experience I have ever had. I even spent big bucks on a top of the line memory foam mattress which I used in Bangkok. We had a problem in that the glues softened while living in Bangkok and the mattress became useless. My take away is backpacking gear is best for any type of travel. We will be changing countries, and I just do not want to deal with the issues and stress of running around a country I do not yet know, so I bought a backpacking nesting pan set that is hard anodized, very light, and takes up very little room. In addition we bought some storage containers, glasses, a tea pot, which are made out of materials that collapse to a very small height and thus take very little room in packing and weigh very little. We can move into any type of housing and our home is complete. The collapsible ware can be found on Ali-express for a very good price. Tech moves very fast and so must we to keep up. Enjoy.
I carry an extension cord too. Sometimes hotels will have a card to activate the power in your room. The fridge bypasses this system and Ill plug the cord into that, with a double adapter, so I can charge my phone or laptop when Im out of the room. Its also great if theres no power source close to the bed
I have been traveling a lot... to gain access to power while we are out of the room is great. Good idea. ALSO... I left my wall power converter plugged in... and flew back to the USA without it. Even though I communicated with the hotel and made a special trip back to the hotel to pick the item up... I never ever got it returned. So, I purchase extra of those plugin converters for the unfortunate reality of 'forgetting' it again. :(
A comedian I met travels with a toothbrush. That’s it. Buys a pkg of underwear at each city, wear and discard. Wash fast dry shirt in shower at night, dries overnight. Hotels actually have free toiletries at the desk. Forgot your charger? Just ask if they found me and they have a drawer full. My son and I travel naked on sudden trips, don’t even need to go home first. Just buy socks & underwear, buy a 2nd shirt, stop at Duane Reade for toiletries, bring everything home later.
I'm not quite that lean, but as a hiker am used to carrying as little as possible -- weight is the enemy of freedom! And isn't it funny how people around the world have clothes, toothpaste, shoes, etc., while so many of us think we have to take everything 'just in case' we can't find it elsewhere... lol
I've come back to view this again, 'cause it's just so helpful and practical. It's always good to learn from people who have huge experience in a particular area. When it comes to travel and packing - that's you Dan ! So, thank you.
Important stuff to now. Just forget something and try replacing it. I packed early years ago for Panama so I assumed I had it all. Well no socks and no underwear! I was washing what I had wore every day until we had a bus trip to the city and its large mall. It's easier to have brought it with you, believe me.,
yes, even in the USA stores are not walking distance or open after 3 or on Sundays... it is a balance to not bring too much and then to deprive oneself...
It's great to compare what other more seasoned travelers pack. I sadly take the "belt and braces" approach to almost everything but electronics in particular. But, I'm getting better at only choosing one or the other. I'll be happy when I've reduced my inventory down to close to yours.
Thank you Marc! I am typing this message on my wireless keyboard which rests on the plywood attached with velcro. One of my rich friends came to visit me about 3 years ago and asked when I was going to replace my banged-up old monitor. I said when it dies. This plywood and two bungee cords have kept it alive for more than 5 years. This monitor has been to more countries than most people I know. :-) Your interactions help our channel grow! Have a great day. :-) Dan
I MEANT TO SAY THAT I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOU FOR OVER A YEAR THRU ALL YOUR TRAVELS .. SORRY ABOUT THAT . YOU HAVE BEEN A TRUE INSPIRATION TO ME ... YOU ARE A LEGEND ... THANKS AGAIN ... 🙏👍✌️

Thank you for the video Dan. It's practical and helpful to slow traveler newbie like me. I would love to see what Qiang packs since I am a girl. She seems to dress well and appropriate in all situations. Looking forward to seeing more of your vlogs.
SORRY 4 CAPS DAN, THANKS FOR SENDING ME THIS LINK. ANOTHER ISSUE I HAVE IS THE DARN AIRPORT SCAMMERS AND HOW TO GET A GRAB, I DONT KNOW IF I CAN TRAVEL AS LIGHT AS YOU, BUT I GOT REALLY GOOD ADVICE FROM YOU THANKS,
Just go to Google and type in the words "Does XXX International airport have Grab?" If no, type, "What is the cheapest way to get from XXX International Airport to (my hotel) (to city center), etc)"
Plastic zip lock bags are just FANTASTIC for grouping items together and organising stuff in your luggage! Use them heaps! Same with hiking cord bags for dirty laundry etc that can be washed.
Hey pawspaws101, thanks for sharing this idea. I appreciate the ideas. Thanks for commenting too. When people comment, our videos are suggested to more people. So thank you so much! Best, Dan
Another good video. Before I watched this, I was thinking that I carry clothes I never wear, and often have to pay extra for the big piece of luggage. Plus I have to drag that beast around town until i find a place to light. Good useful ideas. Thank you.
Hi Sir love your tips. I’ve been traveling for ten years now and I gotta say 14 years is truly inspiring. The hardest part for me is there’s no stability in location and no stability in who I spend my time with. Looking forward to other videos and your insights into this lifestyle
Great story The Ace of Space. Thank you for sharing it with us. You are right. It all seems a little easier when you have someone with you. I hope you get that part too soon. Your interaction with our channel helps us get subscribers and views, so we really appreciate it. Best, Dan

Thanks for sending along this link to your packing video. I've just completed 3 months "backpacking" Ecuador. I used and overhead roller bag and backpack. The backpack carried my drone and camera gear (I'm not a TH-camr) everything else was in the overhead. I was concerned about lost bags when checking luggage. You've apparently not have a similar concern?
You are welcome Todd Cooper. Your comment grows our channel. :-) Dan Have you seen our TH-cam playlist for each country? th-cam.com/users/VagabondAwakeplaylists

When I used to fly to Thailand for my month long vacations I used to bring a chance of underwear and a toothbrush 🙂 I would buy whatever else I needed when I got to Bangkok
Even though you felt like this would be a boring topic, it was one of the first questions I had about the type traveling you do. I have learned how to travel lighter after being married to a minimalist traveler for the last 9 years😂 So far only 2 weeks of travel at a time, but soon to be your kind of slow travel. Thanks for all that you do.
Great video; even though I am the opposite of a minimalist traveler, I am obsessed with luggage and travel accessories. As others have mentioned, I would love to see what Qiang packs. No offense, but most women want more variety in their wardrobe than what you bring :-) I really love those little coffee things and will have to look for them when I am able to visit Asia again. I have a plastic pour over filter that fits over a mug, but it is much larger.
I couldn't agree more Julie travels. I love those little coffee filters. I hope they don't get too old and break before Asia opens again so we can get a new set. Thanks for commenting. TH-cam grows our channel faster when people comment! So we really appreciate it! Best, Dan
@@SimplyLesa Not sure where you are, but nothing with that name is on the US Amazon site unfortunately, even with 'filter' or 'coffee filter' added. But I'll keep an eye out in case they pop up again. Thanks for sharing the info!
You will see them at dollar stores all over SE Asia but I don't see them on USA Amazon. This is the closest I see. Just pur coffee in one of thesse, drop in a cup, and pour hot water in the cup: www.amazon.com/Reusable-Cups-Brewers-Universal-Refillable/dp/B082GPNXBK
I'm surprised...no iPad. My last round was 15 years of travel. Next year I retire independently wealthy and plan to start travel round two. I will remain a minimalist. I carry an encrypted HD, but backup to the cloud.
Hello Philip Janek! Thank you for taking the time to share. Our TH-cam channel grows when people like, comment, or subscribe. It is like you are giving us a pay raise every time! So we really appreciate your help! Best, Dan
Wow, great video. I am going to Thailand in 10 days, and it NEVER occurred to me to wear the heavy clothes, and wear a dress shirt for immigration. Once again thanks for a informative video. Be Safe
Best of luck! Luckily the airports are almost all air conditioned. But put your shorts and a tshirt in your backpack so you can change in the bathroom as soon as you clear immigration and customs.
Jeezus Dan... that second video I thought the stuff would never stop coming!!! All highly impressive. Mind you, the best thing you are sharing your journey with is your lovely lady :)
Dan, A great video. I've been packing for 6 months getting ready for when I can travel. I plan on using an ebag Motherload about 40-45L with a weight of 9 kilos. We plan our first trip to Colombia this July to try just the backpack. I've been refining my packlist getting tips from posts like yours. As I'm not a youtuber it will be easier to have just the one backpack. Thank you for this post. It was very helpful. I'm curious though on how you keep your travel expenses down when you move almost every month. We have a plan similar to that when we retire but are planning on 3-5 month visits to learn more about different areas, but to also save money on travel.
Hey Bill Beebe, thanks for the great question. We move every month or so, but we don't fly every time between moves. Like the last 6 months, we stayed in about 6 places in 6 months. They were just a bus ride apart, and buses are cheap. It is flying that costs money. Thanks for commenting. TH-cam shows our videos to more people when they get more comments. So your comment is like you are giving us a pay raise. So, thank you! Dan
@@VagabondAwake what travelers pack is fascinating so please let us know your update. Also for those that need to breath and avoid medical totalitarianism, are there any pointers you would have for us? Where is safer to travel... I would avoid Israel, Canada and Australia as their governments were a 1984 nightmare to their own people ... where else can we be free to breath and not have to worry about forced injections.
great video. Lots of practical information. I, also like to pack light. Learned several tips. Keep up the good work. I am trying to keep everything in a backpack and laptop bag. Don't do youtube videos, sounds like a lot of work. Appreciate the work you do. Trying to travel on my Social Security only.
Nice and quick video, must have done several rehearsals Lol ! I cant say how many times I thought, why didn’t I do that! Live and learn, or watch your videos. So thanks for another video well done, and to the point and very informative. Thanks Dan, hope you both are doing excellent in your travels. Stay safe !!!!!
I have come back to revisit this because it is just so useful and practical. I have a question now, do you ever get stopped at customs with these spices and knives in your suitcase? What do you do then, do you hand everything over or what is going to happen? Is this suitcase carry-on luggage or does it go in the airplane hold? I'm wondering this, my husband is a chef and would really like to bring his own knife when our big trip starts. Love Romy (Margaret) BIG fan of you both
Thank you Elvie! We all start somewhere. I was at 8 countries until I turned 47 years old and left America. Now I am 61. Your interactions help our channel grow! Have a great day. :-) Dan
Why not just use the TV for the second monitor when you need it? The second monitor seems a bit excessive for traveling. It would make sense if you didn't move around as much but getting rid of it would save some weight in your luggage.
Hey Sapa Lot!, thanks for sharing this idea. I appreciate the ideas. I tried it for a few months. But TV quality and formatting of your window isn't really consistent. Maybe I'll try it again in a few years. Thanks for commenting too. When people comment, our videos are suggested to more people. So thank you so much! Best, Dan
Interesting. I also travel with a carryon only. I recommend you replace your jean with travel pants. Especially to hot climate countries. Travel pants are quick dry, lightweight and breathable. The have big side zip pockets that I used to put my passport and credit cards.
Hey Derrick Du, thanks for sharing this idea. I appreciate the ideas. Thanks for commenting too. When people comment, our videos are suggested to more people. So thank you so much! Best, Dan

That place on Lake Atitlan looks great. I may head that way soon, I'm in Puebla, MEX now. Maybe once your gone you can tell me where you stayed. Keep up the good work, Dan.

What vaccinations do you take to travel worldwide? Do you have a list? It would be helpful to hear what your concerns are--other than bad water? What is your average baggage cost when you fly?
When I first left the USA in 2007 I went to the travel clinic in my city and got all the shots they recommended. But that is so long ago, I don't remember which shots I got. Just Google Travel Clinic in your area. :-)
Late reply, but in case it helps anyone ... The CDC has vaccine recommendations for travelers, and there's even more info on individual country pages on the US State Dept website (like yellow fever if you're going to be in the Amazon, etc). wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/routine-vaccines Your doctor may also have some good advice, and your local county health dept as well. Personally, since I already had all my childhood vaccines (not to mention covid + boosters), I've gotten the TwinRix vaccination for hepatitis A & B and the Shingles vaccine. Both are a series of two, so you have to plan ahead. And if you've ever known anyone who got Shingles, you'll be freaking running to get that vaccine. oof
I carried around one of those for a long time. But never ended up using it because most electrical equipment is built to take the two major power sources, the 110 and the 220. Like all of my compute, monitors, chargers (phone and cameras) will take both. But if you have some product thta takes only one or the other, you will need it.
I used to carry both. But the water heater almost set a fire in my room once so I threw it away. I gave away the swiss army knife after I went 1 year without using it. Best, Dan
I used to pack my luggage in 8 kg. But I will add some more clothes and some masks next time. It may go beyond 9kg. I don’t carry jeans because it is too heavy. I carry and wear mountain climbing pants I bought at Nepal. It is light and drys fast. I don’t carry any food or soap or toothpaste. I will buy these stuff when I arrive my new destinations. I keep throwing stuff I can’t carry including books I bought during my traveling.
Hi Dan. your videos are an inspiration and encourages my partner and I to follow your footsteps SOON. (I retire in June and then Jan or Feb of 2023….it’s goodbye USA.) I do have to pick on you a bit. :o) I watched a couple of your what to pack videos and watched closely to what you packed and what you wear in all your videos. I noticed in all your videos both of you are often wearing something different! Are you buying new shirts (which I’m sure is cheap there) and then give up some of your older shirts?? And your girlfriend often has a new suit on. :o) Thanks for all you do.
Fun and informative video. TH-cam Dan sure has a lot of stuff! ;-). I guess we are not members of the minimalist club since we have to check our backpacks. Your place looks amazing. We loved Lake Atitlan and Antigua - really excited to see your upcoming videos! How is the internet? Used to be terrible.
this is great. no contact lenses? now Qiang seems to have a lot in her wardrobe - very stylish. What is the secret to her having so many change of clothes?

Thank you for this video. I was waiting for something like this from you. I was just curious as to what you pack. From 2016 to the end of 2019 I took 9 trips to S E Asia and always overpacked. Getting better and I see that many things that you pack I don't but still overpack. Gotta figure this out. Just retired and am going to travel, as soon as I can. It's great to see how health conscious you are able to be. I worry about how I would get my workout in while traveling. My normal style of dress usually includes khaki pants and dress shirts. I'm half wondering if I could manage to travel long term with just a backpack.
Dan-I have admired your posture for a long time watching your videos, as someone who worked on a computer in office setting for 20 years. @@VagabondAwake Great question. I teach all online and so at a computer all day. Saw a guy with that posture/harness looking deal at a Panera the other day. Just saw that you have one ... has that been helpful/useful? Thanks man!

For example, do you leave your credit cards and passport in the hotel as you travel locally? I want to go island hopping in Palawan PI. Dan, TY so much for sharing what both minimalist & suitcase Dan takes on your slow travels :-) may I ask what antibiotics do you take with you, do these have to be prescribed by a MD physician?
Hello Lead Learner! The rules of each country are different. Some countries require a prescription for antibiotics, some don't. I just throw them in an old subscription bottle I have in case some official asks. I am carrying Azithromycin to treat severe travelers' diarrhea which I rarely get anymore. But ask your doctor first since it is a very powerful drug and there are side effects. Thank you for taking the time to share. Our TH-cam channel grows when people like, comment, or subscribe. I would be interested to know how you decide whether to take (cheap) ground transportation or (expensive) air transportation between locales, especially when traveling within large countries. And given that most of your retire early locations are famous tourist destinations, have you ever considered getting well off the well traveled road and visiting more remote sites, at least briefly, by taking a leisurely bus tour from one destination to another?
You will find that most of our retire cheap reports teach you how to take the cheap transportation because you learn more about the culture when you are looking out the window of a bus rather than an airplane. We have been flying more to stay healthy over the last year, but that ends as soon as we can get our shots. :-)
with aspirin and other meds and the spices not being in original store label containers, have you ever had Customs question what it is ? thinking maybe its narcotics?
The only customs trouble I have ever had anywhere in the world is in the USA. Those guys can get cocky. But I remain polite no matter how rude they are. The world will profile you. So take off the flip flops, shorts, and hardrock tshirts, and put on clean white t or dress shirts, jeans without holes, and, and clean toe covered shoes (running shoes for me). Take off the sunglasses and look them in the eyes. Nobody has ever accused my spices as illicit drugs.

Like I've been saying Dan is the man! You can tell this man has been doing this for awhile! 😎
I keep my passport in a baggie, I’ve been in some heavy down pours ! Thanks for your help Dan!
Here is a link to that report: vagabondbuddha.com/how-to-travel-the-world-safely/
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great tip. Do you have an Amazon link to one similar to the one you travel with so people see what you mean?
It's a year later -- can you share a link?
The work you put into your videos/trip reports and everything else is amazing, Dan. Making a video alone is a lot of work. Appreciate you!
Much appreciated!
Our travel and packing styles are so similar. 14 years...wow! I hope I can say that in 12 years!
Not pushing the merino wool? :) Are we watching the same channels?
Dan: thank you for posting this video of stuff you pack. My spouse and I travel 2 times a year to the home we own since 2021 in the Azores. A lot of what you carry is what we carry, tech and clothing. Since we have a home that we are traveling to , we already have clothing, shoes, refrigerator etc... at our home on the island. We just need to make sure special tools are acquired on the island or brought with us from the USA. We are leaving for the Azores in 3 days. So, we are going through all our todo lists to get ready. :) Thanks.
I remembered something else for cheap easy good security , a rubber door stop to put under your door at night, plastic tends to slip on tile floor.
At first I thought you were a minimilist. The back pack was sensible. However. The suitcase, why bring, cutlery, knives scissors, razors, hair jel, electric shavers, pasta? You have adapters in the backpack as well as in
the suitcase. You bring coffee to Guatemala? The backpack is minimilist. The suitcase is moving in. Like your videos. Went to Lake Attalain. Make certain to visit El Senor Mishimo. He will be in procession in towns around the lake.
Thank you John E! Thanks for watching and commenting. :-) Dan
GOD BLESS.
Thanks for sharing Edmond!
I Love Your Videos!!! I Backpacked the world much like you for 18 years beginning in 1985. I can So Much Relate to your packing!!! Now I just enjoy the Memories and photos I can share with stories for friends and family, and Love Retired living in Thailand. I Now Love Your Videos of places I have also been.

My pleasure Bob!
Wow. I never thought of that. Great tip!
It's easier to have brought it with you, believe me.,
Funny story!
yes, even in the USA stores are not walking distance or open after 3 or on Sundays... it is a balance to not bring too much and then to deprive oneself...
It's great to compare what other more seasoned travelers pack.
I sadly take the "belt and braces" approach to almost everything but electronics in particular.
But, I'm getting better at only choosing one or the other.
I'll be happy when I've reduced my inventory down to close to yours.
Good point!
Love the plywood desk/monitor protector.
:-) Dan

When I used to fly to Thailand for my month long vacations I used to bring a chance of underwear and a toothbrush 🙂
I would buy whatever else I needed when I got to Bangkok
That sounds fun. Maybe some day? But for now, am running an online business and youtube channel so I need my electronics. :-)
Thanks for watching Kelly! Sounds like you have a great life.
Wow, comprehensive description! What fabric are your t-shirts? Cotton or a quick-dry material?
All cotton so far.
Best, Dan
@@VagabondAwake the coffee filters are available on Amazon under the name Brew Spoon! I just bought one a month ago
@@SimplyLesa Not sure where you are, but nothing with that name is on the US Amazon site unfortunately, even with 'filter' or 'coffee filter' added. But I'll keep an eye out in case they pop up again. Thanks for sharing the info!
Where did you get the cool little coffee makers?
You will see them at dollar stores all over SE Asia but I don't see them on USA Amazon. This is the closest I see. Just pur coffee in one of thesse, drop in a cup, and pour hot water in the cup: www.amazon.com/Reusable-Cups-Brewers-Universal-Refillable/dp/B082GPNXBK
I'm surprised...no iPad. My last round was 15 years of travel. Next year I retire independently wealthy and plan to start travel round two. I will remain a minimalist. I carry an encrypted HD, but backup to the cloud.
I'll be looking at downsizing later this year before flying back to SE Asia. Stay tuned. :-)

Dan
Can you make an updated video for 2024 what you pack nowadays to slow travel as well as what suitcase / bag you use ?
Great idea, thanks!
@@VagabondAwake what travelers pack is fascinating so please let us know your update. Also for those that need to breath and avoid medical totalitarianism, are there any pointers you would have for us? Where is safer to travel...

Why not just use the TV for the second monitor when you need it? The second monitor seems a bit excessive for traveling. It would make sense if you didn't move around as much but getting rid of it would save some weight in your luggage.

And if you've ever known anyone who got Shingles, you'll be freaking running to get that vaccine. oof
Thanks, another great video! What about a power converter?
I carried around one of those for a long time. But never ended up using it because most electrical equipment is built to take the two major power sources, the 110 and the 220. Like all of my compute, monitors, chargers (phone and cameras) will take both. But if you have some product thta takes only one or the other, you will need it.
I didn't see a water heater in your gear. They are around the size of a toothbrush with an AC cord attached. Usually 220V. Also no swiss army knife!?
I used to carry both. But the water heater almost set a fire in my room once so I threw it away. I gave away the swiss army knife after I went 1 year without using it. Best, Dan
@@VagabondAwake yes you cannot take your eye off of it as it heats the water rather quickly!

@@VagabondAwake Yeah could even be a simple rundown of different practices, exercises, stretches, etc. Maybe even quick posture tips for sitting, walking, running, though stride and gait would get into a whole other can of worms...
Great info. One issue I can't prepare for without guidance is this...how do you travel with and keep access to money? For example, do you leave your credit cards and passport in the hotel as you travel locally? I want to go island hopping in Palawan PI. Any advice on how to prepare in the event of lost or stolen cards and tricks such as special credit cards with lower limits or debit cards? Thank you!
Good question! Here is my thoughts on how I maintain access to my money as I tavel around the world: vagabondbuddha.com/top-banking-mistakes-i-learned-living-internationally/

Excellent video. What cameras do you use?
Canon M50. GoPro & Hero Black. iPhone 7+
very good, you threw the house out the window, greeting
I packed a minimalist set of furniture and household items in the basement as I discuss here: th-cam.com/video/aHEWk2TkkTo/w-d-xo.html
my friend was a comment not a criticism, we thank you for being honest and exposing your privacy
It is like you are giving us a pay raise every time! So we really appreciate your help! Best, Dan
I am new to your channel, but have to ask :-) What is the yellow thingy you have on your belt in the front for?
Thank you for your content.
Thx👍🇸🇪
No problem 👍
Hello Dan your luggage is well organized, have a great day

with aspirin and other meds and the spices not being in original store label containers, have you ever had Customs question what it is ? thinking maybe its narcotics?
The only customs trouble I have ever had anywhere in the world is in the USA. Those guys can get cocky. But I remain polite no matter how rude they are. The world will profile you. So take off the flip flops, shorts, and hardrock tshirts, and put on clean white t or dress shirts, jeans without holes, and, and clean toe covered shoes (running shoes for me). Take off the sunglasses and look them in the eyes. Nobody has ever accused my spices as illicit drugs.
