How to Use Phones Mobile Data (NOT Home Wifi Network) on Google Chromecast (STEP BY STEP)

  • I show how to use your phones mobile data instead of your homes wifi network on the Google Chromecast and it doesn't matter what generation Chromecast you are using (eg. 1st generation, 2nd, 3rd, etc).
Note that we need to make one device/phone that has a sim card (network card) in it and enable mobile hotspot. Making this the mobile hotspot basically replaces your home wifi network. Remember this phone with the hotspot will use the data from that phone (so make sure you have unlimited data on your phone plan).
The phone that has hotspot enabled cannot use the google chromecast to stream or cast netflix, youtube, hulu, etc however you can continue to use the phone as usual. In order to stream or cast there needs to be another device that is connected to your hotspot in order to be able to use the Google Chromecast. Any device that connects to your hotspot will be able to use Google Chromecast.
Once you set up the google chromecast through the Google Home app to connect to the hotspot then even if you disconnect the chromecast right now then plug it into a hotel TV, or computer monitor at a friends house, or your car or truck or at a park as long as your have the hotspot phone with you and hotspot is enabled then anybody that connects to your hotspot can use chromecast.
I tried my best to explain everything in laymen terms. Let me know if you have questions. I know my dad still does.

Thx a lot finaly someone with an iPhone tutorial you’re the best, the man respect for u man✊🏾 (a plus subscription)…So Please make a video for the one or those who have an iPhone… or 12Pro, because I have spent a whole day and it has not been done with an iPhone 12Pro…..Because the majority use an Android to do so…that is when I stumble upon your video and I followed exactly what you did; using, 1) the iPhone for a "Wireless Router" / Mobile hotspot 2) an Android phone, where I downloaded, the Google home app on it. (by connecting the wifi of this android phone to the iPhone (wireless Router / mobile hotspot / ... that's when it worked. However, you haven't finished doing it completely with the iPhone. So I followed your method and it works. why the iPhone can't do it easily like the android? That's why I'm asking you to make a video please, where we can do it with an iPhone / while using the mobile hotspot…thx So much

  • @SailingCorina
    @SailingCorina 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I did this exactly as explained. I used one phones hotspot and a second phone to cast HBO Max. After 2 movies I checked my cell used as the wifi hotspot and it had used 4 gigs of hotspot data. So apparently not only did it use the second phones mobile data but it also used the hotspot data.
I'm guessing the second phone goes through the hotspot wifi which is sending it to the Chromecast. What good is this when I have Unlimited Data without slow down but like all cell companies there is a Hotspot data limit? Having to use wifi to cast is what ruins this setup. My old cell use to let me plug directly into the HDMI so I didn't use Hotspot Wifi. This new p.o.s. cell phone won't do this. Since I can't afford more than the 15g of Hotspot this will only let me cast 7 movies a month. I'm sure this is all planned to get more money from us.

Unfortunately this could work for very short sessions here and there.. if you plan on streaming daily you'll use up your Hotspot data in no time... unless there are unlimited hotspot plans out there, not from any of the major carriers that I know of.. some claim unlimited but cripple your connection to 400kbps or slower after your allotted 5-15gb. Streaming will use 1-3gb an hour for video sd/hd, obviously 4k would be around 2-3 hours streaming a month. Sorry if you mentioned this.. Good how to video though

The Hotspot does not need a subscription or a sim card, so how can it have a limit ? Who sets the limit ?
If you use your subscripted phone to set up hotspot to a PC or tablet, THEN you are using data off your subscription.
If you use your subscripted phone to stream data to the ChromeCast to watch movies on your TV, then you USE data and it will be a limit, unless you are on an unlimited subscription.
Setting up a hotspot on a phone without sim cost zero.
Now, from what i gather, you would only use this sim-less phone for First setup, then you dont need it anymore.
Then the-say-15 gig HotSpot Limit on your subscription will be in effect.
And that is also why it is so silly and useless.
Nobody in their right mind should buy a subscription with such a limitation.
The limit needs to be on the amount of data plus speed. Not the amount of connected devices, or on hotspot activity or anything else, only amount and speed.
Your question is not silly, its the product they sell, is a way of tricking customers.
A good unlimited subscription where i live, would cost me approx 35 Euro a month, you could get this in Finland, Sweden, Denmark for maybe 20 Euro or less.
USA i know, is just a worm Hole of disgusting subscriptions, and most ppl buy subscription with their new phones, which is something i would not ever
dream of doing. The prices do trickle down, but too slow for my taste.
I think it should be Free. Only phones and high speed internet should cost money. Because so much of the services needed today, is provided on internet and pay-per-phone and scan QR codes and public services like welfare and shit.
Every HoBO can get a phone, but they cant always pay the subscription fee, maybe because they dont have a pay card, no wallet, no identity, no mail adress bla bla bla.
So, internet on phones should be free. Not unlimited speed of course, you would have to pay for that. But say, 2-3 MB/s should be provided to everyone, even those living under a bridge. Enough for them too seek information about diseases, call a medic, location of nearest soup kitchen or how to avoid getting caught by police on the border of Belarus/Ukraine.
My +100 MB/s connection should cost maybe 5 euro per month i think.
I hope this is where we are going in the future.

@@Anders357 without sim card, how we turn on the hotspot? Mostly all network service give unlimited data, but for hotspot is limited

    • @Anders357
      @Anders357 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@user-xv4qe7wt2t actually, the hotspot was not needed. i had a chromecast (gen 3 ?) hooked up on my TV like normal with a wifi router,
and set it up on my cell by resetting the chromecast first to factory, then turning the wifi router off, then opening the home app on the cell phone,
and setting up the chromecast. (maybe i set up the chromecast on the cell phone hotspot before turning router off )
I cant even remember what i did, but the second phone was never needed, and it was very easy.
When i was done installing all the apps and logging in, i disconnected the chromecast and gave the phone and chrome cast to her
(it was her phone, a Moto G7)
She went home, plugged in the chromecast and started immediately watching TV on the phone from the streaming apps i had just installed,
and then just selected to stream to the chromecast, and worked flawless.
I think i have not yet re-logged in on any of the streaming apps on her phone, the connections seem to stay alive and logged in.
She upgraded to 1000 GB a month on her sim and hasnt even used 100 this far.
The cell phone hotspot with phone number 2 was needed for setting up the chromecast first time, and then using this 2nd phone simply as a wifi router.
When you are actually streaming from your sim card phone, then the restrictions will apply, and there isnt any way around that than simply buying a subscription without restrictions.
I think her company charge around 35 €uro/month for 1000 GB, and then you need to be on their own cellular network, we have 3 "competing" cellular networks here.
there is no limitation on hotspotting the data, they stopped with that i think 6-8 years back. A subscription can be had for maybe 10€ but then its like 1 GB or whatever,
or even less € for home automation stuff, like a anti theft device, or calling up your car to make it warm (but these purposes use very little data)
I later bought a Ultra for myself (chromecast with Google TV), now that seems like it needs an ethernet adapter, or it stutters sometimes.

So is this pulling data from your phone being used as a hotspot or is the data being used up from the phone on TH-cam, Netflix etc?

My guess it use both data. Phone A (the one used as router) will use your hotspot data allocation. Phone B will use your mobile data.

@@mustaqimbasaruddin4686 if I am understanding the topic correctly, I present the following....
I used my daily cell phone (cell A) with active service and set up wifi hotspot (data active).
I used second cell phone ( cell B) with no active service to connect to (cell A, active data) wifi.
I proceeded to set up chromecast with cell B resulting in success.
To finalize, cell phone B can now be casted/mirrored to screen (TV, etc...) via chromecast while cell A wifi remains on even if cell A data is off.
This suggest that data is pulled from cell A exclusively as cell B never had its own data connection separate from the data provided from cell phone A hotspot...
      Feedback? Thoughts?

@@mustaqimbasaruddin4686 ok, so, for what we use 2 device to connect, if we still use both hotspot data? I think better only use one device ..

When I try to do this, it just says ‘Link with TV code’. It doesn’t allow me to cast. And I’ve followed your exact instructions.

But that uses up my Hotspot data so fast. I only get 30gb of Hotspot a month. Is there anyway just to use my regular data from my phone by casting from my phone directly?

My problem is the hotspot won't work I'm in an RV I have no router for internet nothing but the phone data as the hotspot decided to not work the outage and recent changes to the terms in agreement with plans they have made for cell service. I need any alternative that does not require a router or internet from the ISP or hotspot is there absolutely anything or any device anyone can recommend cannot have a line ran out here
