As an example I'm sure some tech junkies would say this phone is "inferior" because the screen is "only HD resolution". @@DoodleDoo I also forgot that the Pixel is plastic. Most people use their "phone" for more than taking pictures and that's not saying the Z4's 48mp camera is bad. They're great for people who want the Moto experience. I've had a z play for the last 3 years, the battery became damaged a couple months ago, and I could've upgraded to any other phone, but I love the Moto experience, z4 was my first and only pick! This thing is incredible
when you say your battery became damaged do you mean like it will say its on 78% then out of no where it cuts off saying low battery and then you power your phone back up WITHOUT putting it on the charger, and when it loads, it will say like 8% I currently have a Z play and i used to love the phone until now with this crazy battery shit
I love the Z2 and I'm going to upgrade to this. The only thing I didn't like about the Z2 was the inability to plug in a headphone set. My battery also started to diminish after 2 years of heavy use. I could easily replace the battery even though it's not really meant to be done on your own. I use my phone to do doordash. It constantly has to be plugged in because of using GPS and data. This causes the battery to go very quickly after 2 years. I have the JBL speaker mod which is incredible. I want to purchase the projector and the 10 x zoom camera mod. Can't wait.Even though Motorola is no longer American and is owned by Lenovo which is Japanese, I love these phones. What an awesome concept. And the mods are all coming way down in price. I paid $60 for the JBL speaker mod but you can now buy it for $20.
I've had the z4 for 2 weeks now after coming from flagship Samsung phones since 2012. At first it's kinda corky to get used to and feels barebones, however now I honestly miss very little from top of the line Samsung phones. The edge apps were sorta useful,I only ever used the spen when an app or page wouldn't let me copy text. I do really miss the Samsung calculator as I can not find a replacement nearly as good imo. I've tried a number of games and I've had zero issues with performance. Now I don't play PUBG or fortnight as why would you use your phone for those kinda games if you have a pc or console? I have done a side by side comparison with a note 8 at both 60% and 100% brightness and they look identical in both quality and brightness. For mods I have the projector, jbl 2 speaker, the camera mod and 2 Mophie battery mods and I LOVE being able to keep the phone at 80% charge while one battery is charging.once it's depleted just swap a battery. With this setup with very lite use a single charge from the Mophie and phones battery will easily get ya 3 days or more.the phone uses next to no power while not in use. Normal use with a couple of hours of TH-cam videos a solid 36hours. Under heavy use about 12hours of non stop gaming. Phone NEVER gets hot.hasnt crashed.seems to manage it's ram very well with daily driver performance of apps being quicker imo then a Samsung phone. If you need a spen or for whatever reason just have to play PUBG otg then maybe go with another phone. But as for me I love the phone and it has really made me wonder why I stayed with Samsung for so long.
Things he didn't mention: When playing media, there's only one speaker. The sound comes from the top of the phone though tiny sound holes which can make the audio sound a bit distorted and dry. The phone is rather heavy and doesn't have a good grip. You're going to need a case or pop socket, especially if you're someone who lies their phone face up on a table to make sure it's flat... The camera does NOT retract. It has some compatability issues with chrome, which I find odd considering the phone comes preinstalled with it. To fix the glitch, press the power button twice. That's all I got since I only got this phone yesterday. If you want to add on anything to this list, go ahead.
Finally someone who gets it. So many other reviewers act confused that it doesn't have a 800 series chip. I would have taken wireless charging, keeping the Z3 side scanner over the in screen scanner though. This seems to be a good phone for the average consumer, not the enthusiast.
@@Konstantin1318 Motorola US confirmed on twitter they won't be launching z4 force/play, unfortunately. Anyhow, for those who don't play games there is no need for 8xx series as the difference in everyday experience is unnoticeable

I received an unlocked Moto Z4 as a special gift from a friend, in July of 2019, and I really enjoy it. Moto Z4 is my favorite phone and it's perfect for me. I have alot of Mods and use them all the time. I have alot of fun with my Moto Z4 with various apps and Moto Mods
Good phone. Finger reader is sometimes finicky, but it works good overall. The benefit of having extra screen space is worth it. Only thing I don't really like is the speaker being on top. The sound isn't directed towards you and u can tell. Camera is great in my opinion, but I'm not a huge camera fanatic. It's way better than my last phone anyways. Oh, the battery isn't nearly as good as my Moto z plays was. Z plays battery was unreal, z4's seems average. Which is disappointing, but it is what it is. $250 at Verizon. Well worth it.
how durable is this phone? specifically, i use to own the z2. never used a case or screen protector, i used the backside to open beers and i use to slam the front side on tables and stuff to show ppl this shit dont crack... EVER. dropping my phone felt like dropping my keys. oops, but no worries. ever. so... is this phone still as durable as the z2?
It seems like a good package, but not outstanding. I’ve found it difficult to move on from my aging Moto X Pure Edition (which came out in 2015) because it nailed everything about the design and hardware; it had a QHD IPS display that was rich and vibrant, it had a 21 MP rear camera with outstanding stabilization, it had proper stereo speakers on the front, it had the SD808 with plenty of RAM and ROM for the time, it had SD expandability, it had great audio hardware with a headphone jack, it had tactile buttons, it had great build quality, ergonomics, and design, it had a nearly vanilla Android experience, and it had all of that at $250. As I keep looking for Android One-based phones, nothing really seems to be comparing with that, even now! I can’t find a mid-range with a truly great SoC, great camera for video and photo, great screen, great build, and great ergonomics with Android One or vanilla Android and around $250!
I also had a Moto x pure edition and it's was my favorite phone to date. I've had 3 Moto/Droid phones and I would go back to the Moto x pure edition in a heartbeat. I can live without a fingerprint sensor. It also had the best camera out of all of the Moto phones I've had, and was better than my friends iPhones cameras at that time. Unfortunately I dropped it and the screen broke. Otherwise I would still have it 😭

So I have the z2 force. I have to say it's been very good to me, I've put this phone through hell and back. I work construction so it's been dropped a ton, been wet been covered in dust and you name it and it's still going and looks like new when out of the case. But it's now some 4-5 years old and getting kinda slow, no matter how many software updates it gets I feel the hardware just isn't up to speed anymore. I purchase a moto from a friend with about 4 different attachments. Its looks identical to this one on the vid. I just recently dropped it off of a 6ft ladder and it won't work. My question is how do I figure out which replacement screen to buy?
I am not sure if I have a setting wrong, but everytime I use this phone for a call something turns on or off. Just from having it to my ear, the calls are great, but I always turn off or dim the display or turn off my mobile data, I have put it in airplane mode (not on purpose) as well as once I was on a call and I heard something. When I looked it showed that I somehow, just by talking on the phone, also started a youtube video.
I'm not a photographer and don't need a camera like the new iPhone or Galaxy or Note, overall I would have to say the Moto z any version is the envy of all my friends with all the mods and versatility it has. So far funnest and best phone I ever owned.

@@shawnsnow6413 eh I'm not into moto anymore and no offense but the s10+ is on a whole nother level compared to the g7. Not saying the g7 isn't good but it's a fraction of the price for a reason and also the s10 series has depreciated a good amount since launch and you can get a new s10 for about 600 now. If you look up the forums on Lenovo the original moto Z had hella problems with the battery. Wasn't just me or my gf. I'm not sure if there will be a z4 force. But if you don't miss the headphone jack get yourself a z2 force. With the Snapdragon 835 and it's dual camera it is at least as powerful as the z4
I'd say your should probably play it safe and either get the z2 force or z3, since both have the same chip, z3 has optical stabilization, larger screen, slightly better battery life, and it's a lot more durable. I gave my z2 force to my friend whenever the screen started to delaminate and put a screen protector on it to stop that

My moto Z4 phone camera is awful! No really. It not about composition, or rule of thirds...if there isn't plenty of light, like noon at the equator with bright blue skies...it's not happening. Zoom isnt even an option. Way to pixilated. I can't be any closer than a foot to anything or it won't focus. I'll put a dime on the table. Shine a bright light through a milk jug I cut open and placed over it. Nothing. Can't focus at any close distance or zoom. I get a soft image of a blury dime with the corners of the milk jug visible. Nice phone, though. Battery fine. Manual settings make focusing worse along with exposure control. I don't expect a canon 5D, but dang
Wikipedia claims this is a "phablet" but it's the form factor/physical size don't fall into making that classification. I wonder if it's been put down as such because of the large internal memory (128GB). Granted, I can't believe Verizon sucked me into making another Moto purchase (especially after the disappointing Z2 and Z3 series), but I wonder if this is their attempt at having an "affordable" midrange entry for their eventual 5G service (still not fully up and running in the Philadelphia market). Also, there's a new razr (foldable, yawn) model announced for 2020; I'm not holding my breath for that...
This actually isn't a half bad Pixel 3a XL competitor. Sure, putting an UD fingerprint reader was probably a bad idea but other than the camera software (which could technically be improved with a Gcam port) it's superior in every aspect compared to the 3a XL for only $20 more
Warning! I have this phone. The fingerprint sensor is absolutely horrible! It is impossible to see the fingerprint icon in full daylight and to me that is a definite deal breaker. When shooting video's the camera loses focus constantly.

@@DoodleDoo I also forgot that the Pixel is plastic. Most people use their "phone" for more than taking pictures and that's not saying the Z4's 48mp camera is bad. Watch Marques Brownlee's blind camera test. You probably couldn't tell the difference between a $1000 phone camera and one that cost $200
@@shawnsnow6413 mega pixel is a gimmick. it's all in the software. for a $500 phone, it's really bad in camera.

Just got the Moto Z4 today and the battery is shit. 3600 mAh of battery my ass.
Hello people. If your battery is shit then you do know you can get battery mods?
breadfan9 but what if they did that and still
I've had the z4 for 2 weeks now after coming from flagship Samsung phones since 2012.
Great review thanks
talclipse what about Motorola g7 play 1 hour pubg battery life vs Nokia 3v vs Samsung a50
You can actually download the Samsung calculator from the store I think
I play pubg and cod mobile. On the z3 Runs great so idk why this would be a problem
Things he didn't mention:
When playing media, there's only one speaker.
Also the app icons are round so sometimes they are shrunk with white surrounding it
Get mine on Thursday. Can’t wait. I really loved my Z3 Play, but the screen was way too small. Now I get a large screen to go with my other devices.

It's weird how the spec wars has came down in the midrange game the last year and half.

It's strange Gsmarena are showing there is a Z4 play and Z4 force when everyone's saying the Z4 will be the only phone.

I can't move on from my Moto z2 play it's one of my favorite phones
I also had a Moto x pure edition and it's was my favorite phone to date. I've had 3 Moto/Droid phones and I would go back to the Moto x pure edition in a heartbeat. I can live without a fingerprint sensor. It also had the best camera out of all of the Moto phones I've had, and was better than my friends iPhones cameras at that time. Unfortunately I dropped it and the screen broke. Otherwise I would still have it 😭
The headphone jack it's not the first for the series, I had a z2 play and it had one.

My fear is if I get the new z4 as a replacement that it isn't going to fare as well as this one has over the years... Thoughts??

Wikipedia claims this is a "phablet" but it's the form factor/physical size don't fall into making that classification. I wonder if it's been put down as such because of the large internal memory (128GB). Granted, I can't believe Verizon sucked me into making another Moto purchase (especially after the disappointing Z2 and Z3 series), but I wonder if this is their attempt at having an "affordable" midrange entry for their eventual 5G service (still not fully up and running in the Philadelphia market). Kawhi hi ah yea that’s better anyways
Ok got it but is it T-Mobile capable cause I’m not leaving T-Mobile although iPhone XR my current phone is pretty tough to beat but like the video
Universally unlocked so yes it will work!
I'm using my Z4 on t-mobile right now
Warning! I have this phone. The fingerprint sensor is absolutely horrible! It is impossible to see the fingerprint icon in full daylight and to me that is a definite deal breaker. When shooting video's the camera loses focus constantly.
How do I find a sale on this phone? Everywhere I look it's full price all the time. I want to stay with metropcs.
Well metropcs has the most expensive version so I would go to Verizon or AT&T
what is big red?
All z's have had a headphone jack. Don't know why you was confused on that. The SD slot is what's new
the fuck is wrong with you? i have a z2 in my pocket with no headphone jack and an sd card slot.
Would You Please Elaborate-On The Sound/Audio, Speakerphone, Phone Calling Hearing & Call Quality (Without Any Headphones) and Over-All Sound/Audio Quality on The Z4...(?) -- Would You Please Test It Out and let me know -- I'd Really Appreciate It...
