Thanks, I try to be honest with people here and not feed too much into the hype. Ironically, I'm not as cynical about this game as much of my own audience as you can see from these comments. I've played a lot of games, too many lol, and I've kept up with gaming news for a long time so I tend not to buy into the hype train anymore. Cyberpunk looks like a great game though and exactly what I want out of an FPSRPG, so I hope for the best.

It's only been in active development since Witcher 3 released, but this last delay definitely means something is seriously wrong with the game.
@@SyntheticMan I think if it were a normal studio with a publisher then this would be correct but CDPR does everything on their own and they have never broken the trust of the customer before. No reason to believe its in trouble. It's possible but this studio has proven that it has other standards.

This game just doesn't seem like its gonna be particularly special if I'm being honest. Nothing I've seen of the little bits of gameplay inspire confidence.
The driving looks rather pedestrian. No hover cars is a bummer. The shooting looks, i don't know, i can't put my finger on it, just lifeless.
The conversation mechanics give me serious Fallout 4 vibes.
This game looks like what would happen if GTA V and Deus Ex Mankind Divided had a baby and it was struggling in developmental classes because it spent all its time making Bladerunner doodles in its notebook during class.

Lol you forget that this game was made by the witcher 3 creators. The quests alone with probably make this game the best game ever made. The shooting with be more fun than any other fps rpg 100%

This game reminds me of the launch disaster of The Last of Us Part 2 and the review bombing that followed. That game was in development for 7 years and was also hyped to the high heavens, and when it released, fans were thoroughly disappointed. Myself included, and this my hype for games is now over. I would never preorder or get hyped for video games ever again... To much lies in marketing and manipulation of fan base

It’s ok to be hyped for a game, it’s normal. The problem is that people let their hype cloud their judgement and that’s why people end up being disappointed and start blaming developers, publishers, reviewers, voice actors, etc. and start spamming them on why the game sucks when in reality it’s on them for going in there with unrealistic expectations. Don’t let hype cloud your judgement because if you do you’ll end up being angry at everyone but yourself.

i’ll be honest, i laughed when i heard it got delayed again. what a trainwreck this has been. i think i first started losing interest in this game when i watched the first night city wire and they showed the brain dance mechanic which is apparently “hella nice” as V said in that cutscene. i honestly could not give 2 shits about it and was confused as to why i wasn’t being shown gameplay, or different ways you could build V, or the different weapons or anything of actual interest. i’m sure they showed that stuff eventually but i didn’t bother to look, from there my patience with the game just took a nosedive and all i’ve heard about it since then is delays, cut features, so on and so forth. i genuinely hope this turns out to be a great game for everyone who’s going to buy it at launch, but this just does not seem like a promising $60 purchase to me. maybe i’m a cynic but shit dude i can’t afford to spend that kind of money on something i have been repeatedly turned off from the more i look at it. i will of course watch your review on it baby cakes

I agree on the braindance, and lack of proper gameplay (shooting, dialogue choices), but I still have hope that it will be a quality game. GOAT material? Probably not.

Synthetic Man it probably will end up being pretty solid, at this point i can’t foresee them letting it turn out poorly. i suppose i just don’t have the same passion for games as i used to so i get turned off from stuff pretty easily. with this game i’ll just have to wait and see how it turns out and how low the price drops

It surprises me from time to time again that people assume that you don't know Nier: Automata. Just look at the sales numbers. It did *really* well. I think last time I checked (like around 1,5-2 years ago) it sold over 3,5 million units. Those are no underdog numbers, escecially for that kinda game.

Am I the only one that doesn't care even a tiny bit about this game? I love the cyberpunk setting but this game, I can't put my finger on it, but it doesn't seem like it's going to be the "one". You know what I'm talking about. Being this game that defines the genres it falls into and the such. I won't even bother watching streams of it either tbh. It just doesn't click for me for some reason.
Part of my problem is that CDPR refuses to show off any uncut gameplay since 2018, and a lot of systems and mechanics have been revised since then. If they're so confident in their game, why are they afraid to show gameplay?
What did you think about Witcher 3?
@@SyntheticMan I played Witcher 3 for 20 or so hours and never touched it again. I think the disconnect between the gameplay and RPG systems is the biggest problem that drags it down. Also being a generic medieval fantasy doesn't help it either, even if the characters and the politics of the game are very interesting to follow. It's definitely not a bad game but I credit my indifference to FromSoft and their games. They spoiled me to the point that not many other games are appealing to me anymore.
@@Ak1r0 I finished but I largely had the same problems you do. After the Souls games it's hard to play an action-rpg with bad combat. That being said the writing and quest design were fantastic.
My hope with Cyberpunk is that the shooting is competent enough that the RPG mechanics carry the experience. I love Fallout 3 and New Vegas but the shooting is objectively bad in them, especially 3. But the freedom that the leveling system offered with your playstyle kept it engaging, and the various dialogue choices added to the immersion. So that's what I want from Cyberpunk.
@@SyntheticMan My experience with NV and FO3 is pretty much the same. While FO3 has problems addressed in NV, both have a level of freedom and decision making that not many other games in the genre have, plus there is great exploration in both. That's what Cyberpunk2077 should strive for imo but I don't think that will be the case. Witcher 3 has the same problem, trying to guide you through the game with dialogue options after dialogue options and then quest completion. But I don't feel like I left a mark in the world of Witcher, even though I "made" all of those decisions. Add bellow par combat to that and it doesn't matter how well presented your game is, it's just not interesting enough to continue playing. At least it wasn't for me.

I'm from the future. Cyberpunk 2077 will release with some bugs, as all games with such a huge premise do, and people will get butthurt because it got delayed so much and still had bugs. All this, compared with the fact that the fanbase and CD Project Red themselves are projecting this game as the second coming of Jesus, will inevitably cause the dissapointment of the masses who expected way too much. Even if it is a great game and represents its genre respectfully, as well as a huge financial succes, it will rememberd as a dissapointment that didn't live up to its promises.

If anyone remembers when they first started advertising for this stiff mediocre game the videos showed the city thriving with life. But now that the game is about to come out if you pay attention you notice just about every gameplay scene they show there is almost NO characters in the camera view. Wow.. its going to be a snooze fest.

I learned about the dangers of Overhype with No Man's Sky
I know this is very late, but the reason why people had these insane takes on what the game -is- was going to be is because CDPR themselves literally said that they are creating _“The Most Immersive Open World to Date”_ AUTOMATICALLY implying that they’re planning to give this “NeXt-GeN” game more features and mechanics than Red Dead Redemption 2 (a.k.a. The Current most Immersive open World game).
CDPR set themselves up for this by not being officially clear with what is available to do in the game, so people could only assume that they took everything from previous immersive games and 1-up’d all of that in these past 8 YEARS of Apparent development. That’s how we got to this Stage of Overhype.
THAT’S where the hype was coming from. CDPR said something vague and let imaginations run rampant.
I strictly play indie games after getting scorched by Anthem and Pokemon Sword and I never purchase a game if it’s more than $24, but even I fell for CDpR’s deceptive marketing (like 24:26) backed up by their golden past. They tricked me with the term “NEXT-GEN”, hoping I wouldn’t know what they were really referring too.
HORIZON ZERO DAWN 2 will dismantle this game in every comparison when its given its reviews

Thats the thing. People want games to be every game for everybody. A one stop shop. You want racing? You want guns? You want open world? You want missions? You want micros? You want life SIM? One game isnt going to fill all those gaps to the extent that consumers want. These projects cant be for everybody. They would like to appeal to the most, but when you trying to execute a particular vision, certain things cant be compromised.

I’m in the “I don’t particularly care for CyberPunk 2077” camp. Its actually nice to get an understanding of what the game truly entails cuz all the hype makes it seem like its this ultimate sandbox life-simulator.
I have a theory though: maybe this game is the “second coming of Christ”, meaning that maybe if it is a middling experience maybe-just maybe-it will wake more people up to the woes of the gaming industry. So its not exactly “the second coming of Christ” but i guess a “Come to Jesus” moment. Maybe its just the cynic in me but if the game were to be divisive cuz of its failure to live up to the hype what would this mean for gaming, especially in 2020 with more games that have divided gamers than what i’ve seen since 2015? I wonder if people think about the much larger context of this release? In my opinion it could save 2020 gaming-wise if its good or if its bad it could evolve gamers to be more skeptical and aware. Or maybe we’ll be seeing the same song and dance cuz gamers-gamers never learn. :(

It is a little depressing honestly to read a lot of these comments of people that are cynical about Cyberpunk because CDPR was supposed to be better than this. Obviously they're a corporation, one that's grown a shit ton since Witcher 3, but I guess I'm holding out hope that they still care enough to put out a quality product. If the game sucks though I definitely think there will be a "coming to Jesus" moment for a lot of people.

Let's talk about realistic expectations.
This game seems devoid of life.
I don't see any reason/purpose at all for having vehicles, really.
Will they be used to the combat, races (because in the game you play as a mercenary, so this would be a "job" to get more money or other rewards), specific missions , or just to travel between point A and point B like almost every Open World game?
Will they enhance the RPG experience itself or not?
Why there's no people walking around the streets? This is not GTA, however, this completely breaks the immersion because it's a game set in a futuristic city, where people interact with each other constantly.
The RPG aspect of the game seems lackluster.
They've removed many aspects of character creation system, they've removed car customization (unlike you said, it was promised as stated by Miles Tost www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/g62kyx/miles_tost_confirms_vehicle_customization/") , skill trees being merged into one, and like you've said, even the Lifepaths will converge into one, so your choices will matter no more.
Like, what's the reason for having such heavy dialogues if your choices in the end doesn't matter?
A huge part of that is what makes a RPG...a RPG itself.
It also could enhance the thematic aspect of it as well.
Games like Vampire The Masquerade and even Deus Ex were much more deep in that aspect, and those are pretty old games.
I see no interesting thing at the combat, that set it apart from other games either.
It doesn't feel bad but it's pretty basic at best.
Deus Ex Human Revolution, which is also a First Person RPG (albeit not an Open World one), had a lot of more intriguing level design and combat.
Honestly I agree there's some unreal expectations towards this game, but I can't deny that some of the criticism is actually valid.
My expectation was that at least it would provide some evolution compared with Deus Ex, Fallout or games of that category.
And seeing the gameplay, I think it will be much worse and limited than those.
I really don't get what the big stink about this game is, nothing they've shown so far has been particularly amazing or revolutionary. I think at best it'll be another Destiny type of game where it's marketed as this big world that's alive but in reality be a mediocre snoozefest that'll feel more like a chore than a video game.

This isn't 'GTA but better'. In GTA you can screw around as much as you can and it becomes incrementally harder as you wreck more chaos, but in this PoS game you are artificially stopped from wrecking too much. It's really much worse than GTA.

This has been really interesting to watch after a year. One thing that I learned is not getting disappointed the studio delays a game. It sucks but it's probably for the best.
Well... Cyberpunk the witcher 3 fps is exactly what i'm expecting, and i'm very hyped for this game. I'm not as hyped for a game since zelda breath of the wild, and that game actually surpassed my expectations, so much it is one of my favorite games of the generation. And coming from CDPR, i expect Cyberpunk 2077 to be one of the best games of the generation too.
There been some rumors about CDPR delaying the game to February too.....

GTA iv in the time was an incredible hype for me, I got to play GTA v yeas ahead and was disappointed, it was a small map and graphics weren't even as close as what I was imagining, and I was playing on an i7 with the most advanced graphics card in the moment, I have been overhyped in general of the gaming industry, due to that I barely even feel like playing a game now, I am waiting for the tech to improve and expect something Immersive or VR, but then again it's just all expectations 🙃

If the game has customizable character wear I’ll get half super hype, full super hype if there are masks/helmets, but for now half hyped!
I still remember the hype about Half Life 2. And how it was delayed several times. Everyone expected an outstanding milestone, a gift from the gods that will lead the medium into the future, like the first game did.
You know what? The hype became real and HL2 introduced a new era of narrative gameplay, that still holds up to today.

What people gotta realize is that this was the first time in a long time where the consumer got to see behind the scenes of what happens with game development. Things happen, content gets cut, deadlines arent always met, extra work has to be put in. We seeing this all happen.... in real time. Most companies wouldnt show you their high school picture much less gameplay in between deadlines. I could go further, early access. Its people that pay full price for a glorified demo, with working stores and microtransactions!! Where is the energy for those games? Where are the pitchforks for companies that make the same game every year?Where is the smoke for the other companies that rob the consumers bare faced every year? 2077 is gonna clean up, and this aint the last of what we will see from this game. And in not talking about multiplayer. Over 30 years of source material. If you know, you know.

Remember even if delay the launch can still be as bad. Many people will be upset if it happens. That’s why imma buy it later it ain’t that interesting for me and CD project first two Witcher titles was never heard of for me till the 3rd came out.
I’ve had this preordered for almost a year and I’ve just lost all excitement for it and I’ll most likely not even pick it up. I’ll probably wait for a sale on it.

I love how I found out about synthetic and cyberpunk a month ago and watching everyone care about this flop of a game is so funny. Everyone says they will fix the game, they won't. It's hopefully our way to start knocking some of these big companies out. Power should be going down to the little guy's now that this company is dead but we will see. Ever since the too big to fail idea came along politically we haven't had a good game since then.

My biggest hope is that this can hook me for hundreds or thousands of hours just like new Vegas did. If I end up getting burned or burning myself I might have to step back from gaming for a bit.
You need to chop down your videos. A half an hour is far too long. A lot of times you are just rambling. Script your videos out next time so that they are more organized and condensed.
I try to script out my reviews if I have the time, but for these discussion videos it's really not worth the effort. It would probably take several hours to script out the amount of content I discussed in this video. If I actually made any money off this channel, I would have an incentive, but I don't.
That being said, I did rush this one out because of the delay announcement. Next time I'll have more organized bullet points and try to cut out more fluff.

.. this game was announced in 2012 and started development in 2013...
It definitely did not. CDPR was working on Witcher 3, which without a doubt took all of their staff as they were a fairly small company compared to AAA Devs. Cyberpunk was in pre-production until 2016, with their full staff moving to Cyberpunk after Blood and Wine was released.
