This is an easy one! 5 minutes will save you twenty bucks! Let me know if you've tried it.

My Dad would roll over in his grave... my Plumber/Pipe Fitter Dad! As soon as your video started - I "remembered" PVC would do the trick. Thanks.

Thanks. I literally had time pressing me and a thunderstorm coming in. I literally had minutes to put something together with thunder over head. Fortunately, I had all the stuff on hand. I went to the place where we keep scraps from former projects, picked up pvc, rough estimated the length, cut it, took it to the drill press, 2 holes and the zip ties in the drawer....done. We never pay for the rods. My husband has found different ways to make one with whatever was on hand, but he was busy and I needed something pronto so I googled. This was soooo much faster than anything we have ever done before. Thank you so much for sharing. I wished they had utube like 20 yrs ago.

Omg!! This was simply so brilliant! Thank you for this DIY, as I am in need of this exact clothing rod! I will be using your idea in a box truck so, needless to say, I don’t have the handles along the roof to attach the ties to so… I’m thinking of attaching the zip tie ends to a heavy duty magnetic hook on each end, for a customizable/non-permanent solution.

    Good idea !
I need this for my work.
Free up space in trunk for something else.
Moving things back and forth to allow for storage from trunk to passenger seat was a pain ! 😫 😩
It's everytime I have to work on the road.
I try using the old bar and curtain window bar but to long for my car's interior.
    With PVC pipe.
It's easy to cut to correct size or makinv holes with a drill.
They have white PVC and Gray PVC pipe.
I used white for my personal project, but with your car idea I am going to get gray so nosey bodys can't see what I am carrying.

Thanks Mark, you are right. I was shopping around for one and the cheapest I can find is about $25. So I’m going to follow your tip and make my own. Thank you so much.

Great tip!! BTW I did a search to find out how I can use a shower / tension rod for use in the car and your video is the only pertinent match that came up!
So we are going to take the zip ties and wrap a closed zip tie around the tension rod instead of a pvc pipe, using what we have, great tip and happy I found it!

In the present day & time, PVC is a lot more expensive if you have to purchase it.
I just bought some for another project that I had to do and what little bit of scraps I had at home were not going to do.
But I love the fact that I had a piece that is perfect for my vehicle. 1 and a half, to 2 inches, along with the zip ties.
Like you we do not throw away zip ties that are still usable. Go to the Dollar Tree to buy more unless we need a big package. Then we go to the hardware store. Save all kinds of leftover PVC pipe. You never know when you might need it to make a repair in your home.

I hope it works for you! I also made one using metal conduit, which is quite a bit stronger.

BAMBOO! I like that! The ridges would work to keep the clothes from sliding around.

How much weight did this support?

    • @AverageMe
      @AverageMe  ปีที่แล้ว +2

It comes down to the zip tie strength. I filled it up from end to end and it sagged but didn’t break.
