In Short film PROJECT SHADOW, She is the best friend of Shadow. During the raid by G.U.N CORPORATION agents they find out they can use Shadow as a super weapon. When Maria is infront of the gun point, they ask her to surrender and handover Shadow but she didn't and get killed by G.U.N. Dr. Gerald Robotnik in rage, he said they took everything from him. Robotnik further said he didn't harm anyone but Maria was just a kid. The character said more, Although without any purpose Shadow is asleep.
