Yeah, I've Always LOVED the Honda Pilots from the Very First time I saw one at the Dunes in the Late 80's & you're right, with the right Power plant SO MUCH FUN in the Dunes!
Ive always thought the same. They are so much funner than todays side-by-sides. If they made one today it would be pretty damn expensive though. In '89 they msrp'd for about $6000 im pretty sure, which is a little over $12000 in todays money. And if they upgraded it with enough crap to make them compete with the side-by-sides it'd be way higher than that im sure
The cbr motor would be a little to heavy for this set up. But if they made some adjustments it would be a beast. But I think they should just come out with a improved version with the 400 2 stroke maby put a 500 2 stroke and make a smaller lighter one with the 450 4 stroke then the cbr 600. That way you have 2 from each with different power options. I guess some people would argue that it wouldn't sale well because of the side by sides. But I think they would sale better if you made them the same basic way without all the extras that make a side by side so exspinsive. The side by sides are out of reach for a lot of people who could pick up one of these
I dont think they got electric start until the odyssey fl350r, which came out between your 250 and the pilot fl400r in this video. I dont know too much about the 250, i never had that one. The odyssey and pilot were completely different animals than the 250, i do know that though. These things are so much more fun than the side-by-sides

That 20:1 is a joke. I guess back then the oil wasn't like today. 32:1 is what most guys run. Awesome example though. I bet you asked 6 or 7 grand though. Probably got it.
@@thomaswettstein8180 And it STILL smokes too much "dumbass". I have one. It doesn't smoke even half that bad. It's either too rich or needs top end work but whatever the cause it DOES smoke way too much..........dumbass.
I had one and drove the neighbors nuts but boy oh boy was it fun to ride it all around!!!
We just restored the one I had as a kid, they have a unique sound! And they drift like a dream!!

I had one in the 80s. Honda should make these again. Refine it with modern tech and it would sell tons.

Those things are so sick, i wish Honda would make them again. Maybe put a CBR600RR motor in it this time to really get them moving.
Put a CR500 engine in it!

@@shoominati23 Damn right, keep it two-stroke!!!! The CR500 is perfect for it!!
Your sound is jacked
The mic isnt made for loud sounds, it does that to protect the mic from damage.
It’s a shame the audio in this video sucks because those 400 sound amazing
It's an electric starter ?
The 1982 Honda fl250 had a rope starter
