I agree. I played on tour for a few years and had the opportunity to meet and socialize with Jim Stevens (The play by play announcer). I often said to him that I felt he could use his skills in any sporting event. If I remember correctly he had a love for baseball as well, but it was natural to move into play by play for foosball as he was a former player. Sorry for the rambling, but thought you might find it interesting.
remember playing against some older french lads on a holiday in france when i was about 12. up till then it'd never even crossed my mind that anyone could be that good
In Foosball there is technique, knowledge and mind game, and when you play in a real tournament, it requires some stamina. So yes it is a sport. But if you keep practicing you'll see that soon enough !
@Alexgreece In prof Foosbal there is 5 different types of tables. Like in Tennis you got different types of fields to play on. The 5 types are Bonzini - Garlando - Fireball (tornado) - Roberto Sport - Leonhart. The difference between the types is in what material the "players", the footballs and the Field is made of. So they change from different types of tables because some players are better at different kind of tables :)
Quick question: Does a goal count if you accidentally make contact with the opponent's player before it enters the goal (ball deflects off a guard)? Some call it a $hit-Shot...others count it as a goal...I cant find a ruling !
They switch from a table usally played in america to a table usually played in france. It is to balance the game. Similar to two tennis players switching between Roland Garros and the US Open every two games.
Because that's the format at the World Cup, basically the only event you would see this. Every country picks one table to be their home table and in order to win you have to win on both your table and the other country's. In this case, the US uses the Tornado and the French selected the Bonzini. It levels the playing field and makes it more difficult because you have to dominate on 5 different tables to win.
@Beepbeepoutoftheway I know what you mean, but 'the randomly moving' makes it harder for the opponent to find a hole. But I find it more boring too actually
I'd like to see this with a 1 second rule on holding the ball. It's dull when players just wait to shoot, watching the defense wobble. A 1 second max would make this all go so much faster and more interestingly.
@Beepbeepoutoftheway there are some different shoots, pro players use in the front: pinshot, snake, 1 pass shoot and the pull... dunno the exact names in english, sorry. but the most important thing in this sport are your skills in the middle... there you can stop your enemy. by the way, it is possible to defend... it's important to read your enemy... kinda like a mentalist.
@AdasPK The maximization of chances is structured by rules (things that are okay and fouls) in professional sport. I just think that it would be a greater display of skill if they played the game like normal people.
I don't play the game at all but I looked it up that it is illegal to spin more than once on a shot. But shouldn't any backwards spin shots be illegal? It's not like people flip backwards when they kick a ball in real life....
I remember when I used to play on these tables I was spinning the handles with all strenght and hoped to fire the ball in the enemy's gate with the speed of light and my strategy was actually working.
Yeah, eleven adult men running on the field, rolling leather ball and trying to hit it into the metal frame. Yeah, this makes sence)) I don't see any principal difference. The only difference is amount of budget and players' salaries. Any sport is may be considred as "stupid" or "useless" at such point of view.
A super-duper slow motion replay of the scoring shots would help. I can't even see the ball.
It's incredible how professional the play-by-play announcer is...

speed = 0.25 still can't see how the goals were made >:-(
Camera doesn't have enough FPS that's why you can't see the goals
I don't know why I'm watching this, but I can't stop.
my right ear absolutely enjoyed this video.
ok I play video games but I tried this game and I'm hooked, not sure about watching it has a sport though

Me: Where's the ball?
Announcer: And it's in the goal!
Mind: *Blown*

what kind of tables do they play on?
They switch from a table usally played in america to a table usually played in france. It is to balance the game. Similar to two tennis players switching between Roland Garros and the US Open every two games.
football is exciting in any format.. football is the force moving the universe... football is the dark energy
I would not be surprised if there is a tic tac toe world championship
nice video, I want to see more! :)

Way better with the top view.
Why would you need time-outs? They're not really doing much.

Yore's five-bar shot attempt really cost him there.

@Beepbeepoutoftheway for your information the defense isnt random , its actually very strategic, do some research into foosball defense
Why do they use different tables?
welldone
As I see it, it's a pole shot? I'm not sure if that's what it's called, but that what I saw.
need slow replays
why are they changing tables ?
they are quick but i havent seen any special:(
2:26 , flipping heck the speed on that shot
its incredible we can't see the ball!!
its really difficult to see how they score, the ball just travels way too fast..
soooooo Who is a winner ?
why do they switch tables?

If only they had some cameras capable of somehow playing the footage simultaneously on some sort of... big...screen...
WTF I AM DOING HERE?
why are they playing on 2 tables?
you need a coach for this?
@Beepbeepoutoftheway

The norm is to play zone defense. But my man-to-man play will revolutionize the sport. Just wait and see!
AmazingLife24/7 brought me here.

Lol I love how hype this foosball game is lmfao..
@samirverdao tornado is more speed based... Bonzini is technically... i myself prefer bonzini
muito muito bom

Am I the only one here who searched for table football instead of seeing this video in their recommendations?

Pretty cool!
I remember when I used to play on these tables I was spinning the handles with all strenght and hoped to fire the ball in the enemy's gate with the speed of light and my strategy was actually working.

Петя Иванов Maybe, real soccer...

Петя Иванов This Table Soccer just seems stupid to be a professional sport.

commentary and all...
I HAVE A FOOTBALL TABLE IN SCHOOL
