Oh man, Ren did so many interviews you have no idea how good those interviews are. You get him as an open book talking about his art, his thought process, you see his personality, you hear about his struggles with his health, how he lost important people in his life because they ended their own life... If you want to understand this creative genius that he makes, he gives it to us on a plate. He is so generous and authentic. You gotta love him. You will be glad you saw those interviews I PROMISE you.

Ren IS playing the piano in the opening segment. He's a gifted piano and guitar player! Amazing talent! Everyone go buy his new album "Sick Boi". He priced them super cheap, so everyone can buy one. He's basically tied with Rick Astley (or whatever his name is) for the fastest selling album! So please! Everyone go to his channel, follow the link and buy one asap! Let's all help Ren get that first place spot! He deserves it!

It's so fun to watch people discover Ren's music - I'm really enjoying your reactions!
The person playing guitar in Money Game 1 is his friend and bandmate from The Big Push, Romain Axisa (he also very talented and has a solo career).
I'm sure people have suggested the trilogy, Jenny and Screech's Tales. You're going to LOVE them! Make sure you do the full version containing all three tales. If you break them up it becomes more difficult to follow the stories. I can't wait!

(commenting as I'm watching the reaction, probably others will have said many or all of these things before I hit reply on my comment)
    1) That intro part is all Ren. I'm 50 and have played the piano for 44 years. He's a very capable self-taught pianist, even if he doesn't play in a way that will enable him to continue to grow to, like, the level of "concert pianist" pieces (which I'm pretty sure is not where he wants to take it 😉) - the mechanics of how you use your wrists/hands/fingers MATTERS to shit like that. Clearly, he can play MORE than beautifully enough for his needs as a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter. Every note of what you hear at the start is him, no trickery; the trained pianist he brought on to do the rest of the accompaniment in the video, is only at the piano from where the video shows him taking Ren's place on the bench.
The big strong solid chords he plays at the very start are from Grieg's piano concerto - he can play all the notes of that opening with his fingers, but it's not played with the strength and finesse and punch you'd get from a formally-trained pianist. HE'S IMPRESSIVELY, IMPRESSIVELY GOOD! It's just not the calibre you'd need to perform at, to be capable of playing the whole concerto, in terms of a pianist/classical musician recognising his level of ability.
I will repeat... HE IS IMPRESSIVELY GOOD.
    2) Money Game 1 is all a one-take, no camera trickery. The guitarist-hostage is Romain Axisa, the lead guitarist from The Big Push (who was also Ren's roommate in Brighton, along with TBP's bassist Gorran Kendall).
    3) 7:00 -ish ... oh man, I can't wait until you get to Jenny/Screech/Violet... btw, the very first melody he sings, while he's looking in the mirror? Before he gives us the hook from Money Game 1 (+2)? That's a variation on the first few bars from the melody he sings in the intro to Violet's Tale (he sings another variation of the melody from Violet at the start of his "For Joe" video... where his sung melody is preceded by a sequence of arpeggiated chords on the keyboard, similar to the ones he played on the piano here)
    4) "man, yo, the way he just, like, raised that child in front of me is crazy" ... whew, yeah, well said.
My favourite lyric from that bit is the "22, he learns that truth is just an obstacle to wealth" line.
    5) 11:00 -ish ... Jimmy's only mission in life is to get his father's approval, but his father keeps withholding it, telling him he's not achieving enough/he's not trying hard enough. Since his dad was still not satisfied with what he'd achieved at 29 (a Senate seat, and on the President's council) he starts looking for other ways to increase his reach (arms trade & drugs). When his father dies, Jimmy fully loses the plot - his dad dies before Jimmy ever hears him say he's proud of him. Jimmy goes into a downward spiral - no sense of self worth because his self worth was defined by how he needed to be seen in his father's eyes. His moral compass disintegrates even further, *and* he's making increasingly unsound "business" decisions in the pursuit of power.
    6) Ren's suggestion of the solution (value the herd over the individual) is different/separate from how he decided to end Jimmy's story (if it's actually ended... plenty of people are saying "that wasn't a gunshot, the gun jammed/whatever, he's not dead").
Jimmy was tormented by his father's ambition for him all his life, but after he lost the use of his legs, he reconsidered his life/how his father pushed him and started to feel remorse. I was confused by the contradictory messages of the ending at first, but I saw someone say that the gun is metaphorical - he's killing his father's influence in his brain... and I like that one. Maybe he *did* pull the trigger (lack of gunshot sound effect not withstanding) and that's how he killed his father's influence. Or maybe the visual of him with the 45 to his head/pulling the trigger is just Ren's metaphor for what happened when he started feeling remorse for what he'd been responsible for over his adulthood (with the lyrics from earlier in that verse, about riches turning to rubble when your perspective evolves etc).
    7) 21:10 - YEAH, EXACTLY!
    8) 22:50 - Ren's genre is Ren.

I'm a 68 year old widow and a visual artist, I found Ren about a year ago, watched a lot of his videos singing and playing on the streets, he is so humble lifting others up to let them shine as he takes a back seat. What a testimony to humanity that we can overcome the negative with good if we just be our true self. Through this illness he has to overcome speaks to his art, his illness gave him time to perfect his skillfull passions. It is said it rains on the just and the unjust, what path we take at our own will remains. At my age I can relate to all of Ren's works and I'm awed by this human being! One day perhaps we can all walk shoulder to shoulder with one foot in front of the other realizing we are ever so resilient ever so fragile.

And it's so important to him. Just love being along for the ride as you get to know Ren. And you haven't even heard him sing yet! Watch the Tales of Jenny and Screech and then move on to his rap and singing. Hi Ren, MG1, 2, and 3 and the Tales are part of this proof of concept he hopes to take to Netflix and keep making these amazing, like you said, musicals.

Great review guys, you've dipped your toes into the Ren rabbit hole. About 12 mins in King Bro was questioning why the dark change in direction. I think Jimmy's ever increasingly following his father's nurturing, that you have never reached financial sanctuary, the "mine mine gimme" ever ringing in his ears. The political direction likely a move to open doors to the criminal business, power fast becoming a far bigger currency than $. He is a super guy, loves the reactor community, none of this blocking lark with him. He was "dissed" by a rapper which he invited the guy to do his worse, Ren's diss reply to King Dotta is proper funny. Check out his busking and collabs. Ren's special!

Please react to his first song, it's off his new album (sick boi) called "Seven sins" It is only audio, no video but when you hear it you will not worry about a video. Ren loves his reactors and will engage with them to get his messages out there (giving interviews). He is extremely intelligent and his vocabulary is high when he speaks. He is 33 yrs old. Many yrs he spent in his sick bed(tomb) and read literature books, pop culture etc. So always skirting death gives him a different perspective on human life and the planet.

Ren is super super special, his music reaches everyone, it’s just astounding that he has no big music label, agents, writers, producers behind him, he does it all with the help of friends i.e Sam who does the camera work/videos. People are not going to see another one like Ren, he’s a one off genius, on top of all that we must remember his health is bad, his body ravaged by Lyme disease and he spends nearly all of his weeks having necessary treatments. ❤Ren (and his buddies)

I'm not sure I've heard you guys mention yet that all of the Ren videos youve watched up until now have been live one takes (ok, a couple edits towards the end of "Hi Ren") with no special video tricks. The guitarist in MG 1 was Romain Axisa, the other guitarist in the band Ren was in, The Big Push. Someone probably mentioned it on the last video, but just in case.

I just found you guys and had to sub to watch you go down the Ren rabbit hole. To me he's the most important and brilliant artist to come on the scene in the last 20 years. He does it all. He raps, sings and writes epic poems/lyrics with multiple layers upon layers in their meaning. He plays guitar, piano, drums & bass. He produces his own beats. He visualizes the concepts for his videos and has Sam one of the best videographers. They do insane one take live videos.
As far as why he got let go by Sony it was due to his health taking a nose dive and it was a mutual decision. He got Lyme disease from a tick but was misdiagnosed for 7 years as his body and mind deteriorated. At one point, for a year, he couldn't get out of bed. His girlfriend at the time (3 years ago) convinced him to see a doctor in Scotland I believe, who finally figured out what was really wrong with him. He'd been told by other doctors that the pain and symptoms he'd been having were in his head and prescribed him psychotherapy drugs labelling him bi-polar and psychotic. After that he went to the USA to have stem cell treatments which literally saved his life and allowed him to improve somewhat.
Now he has been in Canada for the past year getting daily treatments since they are the best there for helping to manage the disease. He just put out his 1st hip-hop album. He put out an album in 2016 called Freckled Angels which is full of bangers. There isn't a single song I've heard that isn't amazing. And he does all styles. You can't pin him down to a single genre. He does Reggae, Rap, Hip Hop, Rock, Pop, Ballads...everything. Anyways. I'm looking forward to the journey. Peace.
P.S. Please do Money Game 2 the lyric video. It's the actual full song with music & hook.

Ren is self taught in producing, rapping, singing, guitar, piano and everything else.
He said he composed this whole song (including strings). There is no end to his talent and his heart is pure, he wants a better world for all human kind. He came from nothing, grew up poor, lost friends to suicide, has been sick since he was 19 and is now 33. He is still working on his health (has been in Canada getting treatment for the last year and is still there) he could barely get out of bed for about 5yrs. He has had a hard life but its made him who he is.

You hit the nail on the head. Jimmy became one of those sheep he described at the end primarily because of his father. Growing up with this manipulate control over you is paralyzing for some of us. To explain... when the influence is gone (controller dies/leaves/etc), you realize that you don't have your own identity. I'm 60 and still fighting to overcome the past voices.

@@matildafishes9931 it’s tough for sure but Memories are only there if we decide to keep them. What happens in the past can only be relived if you think about it. ( our memories and Imagination is very vivid to the point it feels like it’s actually happening) That’s the beauty about Humans. We control what happens within us. What happens outside its out of our control. What people say to us about us doesn’t mean anything until we decide it to mean something to us. Nobody knows an individual as much as the individual him or herself. We lived with ourselves our entire life. Nobody can tell us anything about ourselves accurately. Only we can as individuals. You guys are killin the Ren reactions! Your videos are very entertaining, and you are likable guys. That means a lot and goes a long way in growing your channel. I just found and started reacting to Ren myself, don't walk, RUN to "The Tale of Jenny & Screech" FULL Trilogy. I can't wait to see your reaction to that! He is so down to earth, I am addicted to his art. He is so different, and everything he does is so unique, yet you can find a lot of common themes, the pig mask, the Seashells rhyme, the roped mask, etc. He is a master Storyteller. His music from his busking days with "The Big Push" are really great too. I've only done one from TBP- War Pigs, but I hear that "I shot the sheriff" is great, I'll likely do that next. Ren's fans are loyal and will blow up your channel, as you can see. But more than that, he is just too damned genius! Can't wait to see the jenny & Screech trilogy. It's hard to pick a favorite. If I can ever be of any help, don't hesitate to ask. I don't know everything, learning as I go, but after 2 1/2 years, I know a little...Here's a tip- Add 3 #hashtags at the end of your title, then use the same exact title as the first thing in your description, and add the hashtags. For reactions, examples would be #reaction #ren #titleofsong OR #mycatalog (name of your channel) It will give you scores for each tag/#hashtag you use (especially if you use VidIQ) I can give you some more ideas if you're into it. Also- ALWAYS dispute Copyright claims. It doesn't hurt your channel. Only on long form video reactions, NOT SHORTS! ( I have a way to create shorts from your reactions in Vertical mode, where it shows you & the video you're reacting too at the same time, just ask.) Adding the hashtags helps TH-cam push out your video to more viewers...Cheers! oh- I don't know if people mentioned this, but all of these videos are done live, in a single take! I believe there were a couple of trys to get the best one, but the fact that it's done all at once, live, him mic'd up and playing, acting, singing...MINDBLOWING!

Wow. Thank you so much for all the Love. Yes we been absolutely blown away by Ren. He is way too good. He is a Legend in the making if he is not already one. I know about the hashtag for shorts but wasn’t completely sure if it’s effective on regular videos. We would love to hear any recommendations you might have for us. We new to this and are open to any suggestions to improve. I checked out MG3 on your channel and you did a fantastic reaction. It’s Real and Genuine and that’s All you can ask from a Reaction. We did “the tale of Jenny and screech” which should be out real soon. We are very excited to continue the Discovery of “Our Friend Ren”. After listening to “Hi Ren” and MG 1-2 and 3 I’m starting to feel like I know Ren and he is simply a lifetime Friend 😂. He so good it’s unbelievable. Thank you very much again for your support at such an early stage. Keep up the Great work! Also we absolutely would love to hear your suggestions on how to improve.

People get into dealing arms and drugs because of the money. Much more money in killing than politics.
Seems Ren's physical health problems (Lyme disease and Mast Cell Activation Disorder) and its restrictions have influenced him in many ways. Ren's spirit drove him to read and learn from his bed (rather than simply lay in pain like I would). His severe dietary restrictions have left him very trim. Rather than complain or stay super skinny, he worked out so he's got his most fit physical shape. He has even alchemized his PTSD and other mental health illnesses into lyrics that bring about empathy and destroy stigma. Impressive all-around.
Yeah, I think once the narrator draws the eyes on the bag man, it humanizes the victim and makes him look at himself and his own role in the Money Game. Then, he feels badly and "monks out" to remove himself from the problem.
As others mentioned, Ren is super open and honest, and interviews with YT reactors. Super humble guy. (No pun intended, but his song "Humble" is fire.)
