I know as a beginner it can seem difficult, but I've been learning Korean for a while, I strongly recommend learning hangul (the Korean alphabet) before you learn words.
I understand what you mean, but as Jason said, I recommend learning and practice reading hangul. part of the reason is that I think romanization can be misleading the real pronunciation.
I agree with Jason and Conversational Korean -- I started out trying to learn via romanization and it messes you up; it is misleading. After you learn Korean alphabet, you will notice how inaccurate and inconsistent romanization can be.
