  • This video is all about working with raw veneer and the extraordinary Shaper Origin! The many projects that you can make once you view this will be beyond incredible! I have developed methods to work with this thin, but amazing material, and with the guys over at Shaper Tools...together we have an entire project from start to finish! I'll show you the few tools (also listed below) that you'll need, the free SVG file will be available from ShaperHub and the veneers are available from my website. And you can now learn this process and be on your way to creating your own beautiful motifs! This video has all the instructions to insure your success with plenty of tips and tricks along the way!
    I have a ton of time on this project...your support helps me greatly! Get your veneer packs here:

    Free ShaperHub file(s) for this project: (see below for CNC users)
    hub.shapertool...
    CNC: Don't have a Shaper Origin but still want to cut these files on your CNC? Simply go to hub.shapertool... You don't need an account...just click "download all files", add your name & email and they'll be sent to you!
    Necessary items for working with veneer & the Shaper Origin:
    Easy Tack 7020: amzn.to/3UsUmXBB
    Painters spatula(s): amzn.to/3UuaTe0
    For larger pieces: amzn.to/3Sl3yvf
    Small roller: amzn.to/3DIy7XU
    Small inlay cutters:
    1/16": amzn.to/3DK0i8U
    3/32": amzn.to/3QWGqC9
    1/8": amzn.to/3UmaCtz (5 pack)
    I like downcut router bits for cutting veneer. The downcut action not only creates clean cuts on top...but it also holds the veneer down to the substrate.

      Thanks a ton for that feedback! Yeah, these thin veneers are easy to…simply bump and end up cracking em! Plus I wanted to show how easy it is to make perfect seams. 🙏🏼

    The nuance here between tool cabilith, woodcraft, and results is really good..
    Despite your tool you were gluing, stabilizing, recognizing issues ahead of time.

    I use a Festool track saw to cut my veneer for my straight joinery.
    I love your video.

    first off I think that you did a beautiful job and I learned a few new tricks as well but... The National Monument called Shiprock is in western New Mexico but what new Mexico doesn't have are Saguaro cactus which are also shown in the piece. but like I said awesome work.

    • @ramonartful
      @ramonartful  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We can compromise. 😬 Shiprock is absolutely in the western part of the state…I can see it from where I live. And true…there are no 🌵 cacti there…it’s called artist interpretation 😬

    If the black cactus in considered the positive and you cut it on the outside with a negative -0.002 offset, what were the shaper settings for the pocket on the blue background? I missed that somewhere in your video.

    • @ramonartful
      @ramonartful  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's been a while...but if I remember correctly, I kept all of the cuts at -.002" offset...pocket cuts and insert pieces. This is 1/42" thick (thin 😬) (.024") veneer so I was about .028 - .030" deep with the cut...using a 1/16" down cut spiral bit, with the Shaper Origin on 4 speed. I believe that I used the default speeds for plunging and bit travel and mostly in auto mode. You can see more of this process at another video I did on commercial veneer with the SO.

      I’ve done a lot in Inkscape but for this particular project, I worked with one of the guys at Shaper who created the files, since it was a project now available on ShaperHub. Thanks

      I’d sure like to see that! The Shaper Origin sure is fun to use…not sure I would describe it as hard! 😬🤷🏼‍♂️ thanks
