Editing-Grayson here. One thing I didn't explain well in the video (I should honestly use notes more so I don't ramble) is that yes, obviously we have seen a massive fall in Pokemon prices from Pandemic highs for some products like Vintage. However, in these other niche collectibles, like Tamagotchis, the entire hobby has been hit. This is the difference with Pokemon. Modern is still crushing. Alt Arts are crushing. The retro games are crushing. The competitive TCG is crushing. There is still a lot of strength in this hobby which is reflective in prices for certain items, something not present in a lot of other collectible markets when it may have been present in 2020-2021.
Surely anyone purchasing hard copy games is doing so as a collection piece. In the world of emulators where even the most basic of PCs will operate infinitely better than a 20+ year old handheld, I can't imagine many folks loading up the GBA, or even DS to play these. Not to mention emulation is completely free and fully customizable for optimal use
Retro gaming and collecting has grown, but I think you’re still underestimating nostalgia and and the market of people that don’t want emulation. I love playing on my GBA in my free time. It would never be the same thing staring at a computer screen for me. Not to mention, it’s much easier and space efficient to take it on a plane, car, etc. There are also a lot of people that still don’t know emulation exists or how to use it.
Pokemon will never disappear, its got too many tools to keep it going. If it starts crashing, they can just release a new game, or a movie, a new tv show, or something creative like they did with Pokemon Go 8 years ago. Or a new ES type of set! I think right now they are a lil cocky because they know the ip is in a good spot which is why they release mid sets with bad pull rates 😅
I agree it would be VERY difficult at this point for them to fuck up that royally, but you honestly never know. That said, it’s important to note that it’s not as simple as we make it out to be. Pokémon GO was revolutionary. It’s very difficult for a company to continuously hit highs like that.
When collector bros don't have the same vision or forward thinking as sealed investors. Like Alpha investments said, if they make a video everyday at how bad Pokemon is as an investment , they'll eventually get the the bear market and say "I told you so". Clowns be clowns
Well, it depends what we mean by fall off. To completely cease existing or being relevant, I agree with the premise. To lose big market share or become much less popular in pop culture, that could be much closer.

The fact that you sold tamagotchi and wrestling toys but think enough of pokemon to make an entire channel is what gives me faith lol
To be fair, I’m sure there is a tamagotchi investing channel out there somewhere 😅

Honestly, for Pokemon to fall off at this point it would take some catastrophic event that caused collectibles as a whole to fall off

Pokemon is IP King 👑
Unreal video, great work as usual👌
Thanks man
I need them to 10x brother
Haha it would be crazy to see but that’s just not gonna happen any time soon unfortunately.
For now
