    I moved out of the Upstate SC because of all the people moving there. All the big industries expanding. South Carolina has gotten to stressful and populated for me. I love living in rural Kansas now. Peace and quiet. It's all about your preferences and what you're looking for. There are a lot of job opportunities and good colleges.

      There are for sure! I actually love the areas that are 30-45 min outside of Greenville. Spread out a little more, but some of the smaller towns have such a great tight nit community! :) definitely preferences have a lot to do with it all!

    I can see tons of reasons why many out of staters seek the upstate. Not just Greenville. But two things sunk it for me. Constant building of higher density and unsightly cookie cutter subdivisions and UGGGGH! Those dreaded HOA's. SD's & HOA"s are pretty standard down here because stricter zoning isn't all that common. The upstate is growing by leaps and bounds but very carelessly I might add.

    • @aubree_lewis
      @aubree_lewis  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that there are some areas that are growing that I would like to see go a different direction for sure. And, at the same time, these people have to have somewhere to go. Feels a little like a Catch 22. Everyone can't be downtown Greenville without paying the price, I think more and more we will see people having to decide between location and type of house. We shall see!

Taylors, Mauldin and Simpsonville are not connected though they do have some short SRT trails in their cities. I live in Florida now, but from Spartanburg. A couple of years ago Fl sent 80 people from Tallahassee to Greeville to see what is Greenville doing so well to be growing so fast and do successful. Oh l could have saved FL taxpayers a lot of Airline fees from those 80 people. Tallahassee will never be a Greenville. There is no where to work here unless you work at the Capitol. They don't want big companies coming here. So it makes no reason for anyone to stay. There is nothing going on in Tallahassee.

You will hear people around here saying they are building too much, or too much construction, but honestly it's not terrible, it's finally catching up with the housing inventory we've been lacking for almost a decade now. @aubree_lewis  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmm, so everywhere is going to have some sort of crime rate, and I think that dialing in to where specifically you want to be will help tremendously. The hardest part about the crime rates here are what are those crimes specifically associated with and what is concerning. Are we talking porch pirate crime? DUI? Domestic? Drugs? Internet crimes? Child offenders? etc etc. I think there is a lot to be considered no matter where in the country you are looking. My husband has been police in Greenville City limits and now in Travelers Rest. I hear about all sorts of things, but none of it makes me think that this is a poor place to raise our family. Here's the reality. I don't care where you're from. Greenville has awful traffic. It grew too fast, and it sucks. Bad. The weather is only "mild" if you're used to sweating your ass off a third of the year with heat and humidity. Next is the neighborhoods. If you're in the Sans Souci area or anywhere around the downtown, it sucks. Particularly Berea and Sans Souci are ghetto areas. Many pockets of ghettos, too. It is not uncommon to have a "lack" of police here. Prepare to have a hit and run, and have a cop arrive with no concern. Events are promoted here as awesome. Fall for Greenville means restaurants clog downtown as a promotion to them. They cut their portions to finger food and charge an arm and a leg. All marketing. Total bs. This place has a cool concept for a "falls" downtown, but a downtown with only yuppie pubs, and boring stores. Not a fan of liberals, but have to admit Asheville has a one-up on the cool store factor, and variety in the walking scene.
