I am old enough to be your dad / grandad. After a hobby-life of oils, then watercolour, then acrylics, I am starting portraiture in charcoal. I really admire your facility and grace with charcoal. It looks like a kind of freedom which must be wondeful to achieve. I am learning a lot from you. Thank you for sharing your talent.
The faces emerge out of nothing in mere seconds! I feel like I am in the presence of a master artist!!! I adore everything you create- it’s mesmerizing to watch you work! 🤩
Me too!! Watching Josh has changed my whole outlook and I feel free to just go for it without fear of making a mark anymore!! You are just unique Josh & I love watching you work - so inspiring ☺️
I like this kind of Drawing too. Feels like clearing the fog in your mind and just throw everything on the paper with no hesitation. Beauty out of chaos.
You are amazing and inspiring man... I cannot stress how much this helped me loosen up and create more energy in my charcoal drawings and underpaintings. Thank you kindly!
I love your drawings and instructions but it would be So So So MUCH more valuable if we could see your reference material as you are drawing. It would make your videos more viewable.
Personally I don't feel the reference is needed in this type of video because it's not about the likeness it's about the process. You can always pull the reference up. It's about the movement, shapes and values. I get the reference is good to view...but I don't feel it is needed for this type of video. Fantastic!
I disagree, I think just looking at the reference quickly and trying to memorize the important parts ( like if you were doing the exercice ) then seeing how he's putting those on paper is actually more valuable. It makes you really focus on the process and not just compare with the actual reference.
I'm a new fan of yours and I love your works. I even searched you on Instagram to see your other works. You inspired me to draw like you but I haven't tried it on charcoal. I wander, how much do you sell your works when you started selling art? I would like to start selling abstract arts as a beginner. I wanted to be like you 😭💖.

You have no idea how much these videos help. Thank you so much.

That’s great! I especially love the speed with which you work. Kind of continuous flow of energy & rhythm. It’s very infectious.
I am totally overwhelmed by the precision of your "loose" movements...
I am sure I could make a beautiful mess instead of a portrait, if I tried.
Thanks bro, had paper and the charcoal for a month, brought a knead eraser today. Her I go !
This exercise has been a real game-changer in my work

So much emotion in this one.
Do you ever have failures that you just want to scrap, and keep working on them until they’re just ok?

If someone orders your art, would they have to use a fixitive in order to preserve it or is that done already?
