It was his sister's birthday and he was missing her. She wasn't living with him. His mom had abandoned him in his childhood because of his rebellious attitude.
So Priyanka who happens to love him was trying to lighten him up with this song and dance.
4:03 Priyanka is one of those actors who doesn't loose the body language of her character while dancing for a song in the film. It's very hard to separate her from the character she is playing in the movie. Another actor I can think of is Rajkumar Rao.
