    I cant tell you how many times I have wished I had a way to display my collection for this very same reason. I have even bought super similar stencils because I couldn't see what I already bought and didn't go through them so ended up buying either the same or similar. I ended up putting mine in a clear envelope stacked in a file so I could see them easier but its not easy to get them in and out of envelopes but when I am making paper I just drag the file over to my painting table.. I don't have the luxury of a lot of available garage space, but this is a super easy and better way to display them. Thanks for the tidbit.

      You’re welcome! You can also stock short sections of the metal dowel on top of each other vertically in a narrow space. This is just a jumping off point :-) I agree, I don’t like trying to put the stencils back into the envelopes either

    Brilliant! I've been having the same trouble with 'out of sight, out of mind' stencils and considered hanging them up with larger S hooks on a telescoping tension rod, but wasn't happy with the idea of them flopping around and getting tangled. I even have Duralar sheets in my stash, which I never even considered using this way... Thank you so very much, Elizabeth!!

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great, you’ll just have to make sure that you find clips that will fit over a curtain rod, these are very small

    • @MicheleEngel
      @MicheleEngel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did the same thing with curtain rods, but those rods (probably because they are not solid metal) bend with the weight too much. I'm going to set it up again using the metal dowels. Also, I didn't think of a way to keep the stencils from tangling, so I'll use the DuraLar sheets this time, and voila!

  • @debchambers8563
    @debchambers8563 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am using this same sort of system, however I bought the diginet (ikea) cable curtain “rod” from Amazon to hang the stencils on instead of the dowels. You can cut the cable to be whatever length you need up to 196 inches. Just remember that if you want it to be really long you will need to buy extra support pieces for the middle. I didn’t think to use the dura lar. Thanks for the idea.

    Thank you so much for helping me improve my system! I was using curtain rods (didn't hold the weight too well), and the stencils were also getting tangled. Your system addresses both of those problems successfully! By the way, a possible alternative to the DuraLar solution and much less expensive: Plymor Zipper Reclosable Plastic Bags, 2 Mil, 13" x 15" (Pack of 100) (about $25 on Amazon), and they have other sizes, as well.

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the info, I prefer the rigidity of the duralar since I’m only using one clip in the middle, there’s no flopping on the corners with this stuff!

    As Deb Chambers mentioned, I used her system to hang long samples of antique wallpaper. The system allows about 2 1/2 inches of space
    from the wall, so whatever is hung tucks in nicely and slides out easily. The system usually comes with little clamps.

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m so sorry I totally missed this comment I don’t know how that happened. No, I don’t bother cleaning my stencils because soap and water does not reactivate acrylic paint. Once acrylic paint is dried nothings going to get it off. And you cannot scrub the stencils because of the fine details in them. Your best bet is to toss them in warm soapy water before the paint dries! But then that means it’s wet when you want to use it the next time. So I don’t bother washing them at all. Thanks for your comments all the way from Holland! I am not sure if you can order the stencils and Holland, are you part of the EU? Because Joggles does not ship to the EU. But it is Joggles that you order from, not me directly. :-)
