My new favorite RC. I mainly run on asphalt and concrete. So I swapped out the rally tire for some street slicks. Modified a set of 17 mm hex adapters to run a set of Aarma infraction tires. That barely show any wear. Add a center diff, Reefs servo, Hobbywing Quicrun esc, and a FlySky reciever. And it’s a badass machine on 3s.
@@JasonPerrinRCVlogs If adding the center diff in this is anything like adding it to my 4s slash, it changes everything. So much better. I hate slipper clutch setups.
Sorry to blow up the comment section here, but I had a thought. Jason, the hobbywing short course 4s system would be perfect in this. It would be an animal on 4s. Sleep on it........ 😊
I know you need to have a decent amount to say to make a video but here is my personal thoughts . Its a slash with another body. The end Groundbreaking stuff traxxas, really knocking it out of the park. We saw the slash 16 years ago or so now … yay
The stock receiver box can be put up front with no modification. It's the same screw spacing you just have to pry the receiver out to get to the screws . There is an alternative that arguably simpler . Put the esc in that spot instead. If you look you may find someone who makes a platform and bolts to that top center and you could fit anything you want... like xlx2, for example..
This car makes so much fun 😂 I bought the BL2 version, removed all electronics from Traxxas, installed a 42kg GXservo servo and a Hobbywing Max8 G2 with 2.500kV motor (ready for 4s). Stearing, hubs (front and rear) and both bulkheads are Vitavon 7075 aluminium. From Traxxas are installed: center diff, aluminium center drive shaft, the GTR shocks, the center brace, sway bars and revised diffs with 6882X and the spiral cut gears. I love it! next will be the GPM 7075 diff cases. Currently I'm looking for steel CVDs, but not yet found. The ones from Slash/Raptor are to long.
Sounds like we took a similar route. I did the same but for the Raptor R. You can make the steel CVDs from the XO-1 work. I run them on my Monster Slash. You can always cut a few mm in length off if they bind when used with the shorter rally arms. $99 when I bought them.
I have several slashes and a rally. I run a Max8 G2 and Hobbywing 2500kv 4068 on my Raptor R (full Vitavon build with center diff and beadlocks). I run a Castle Mamba Monster X and Castle Castle1512 2400kv on my Rally. I found that either the Max10 G2 and a 3665 motor or a Castle Mamba X with the 1512 also work well. Stock electronics (even with fans) just didn't cut it for me. Kept overheating and going into limp mode. I live in Sam Diego and it gets above 90 in the summer. At the beach with paddle tires or even in short grass, the stock system just can't handle it.
i have the Rally version with skulls , i just have it for display or some docile Bash,im looking for a different body and this one is🔥 i recommend a 4s system, aluminum Motor mount and Tekno drivetrain
Hi jason. Just received mine and was wondering if vitavon or any other company make any aluminum upgrades? Would like to find aluminum skids or bulk heads.
Ive been thinking about useing the Hobbywing Combo MAX10 G2 140A ESC 3665SD 3200KV G3 i think it will fit no issues Motor its still only rated to 3s i think bit im thinking it can handle the speed pinion a lot better that the stock combo
Not true....I have many Traxxas VXL systems and run them on 3S and do not over heat...Now if people go crazy on gearing yes anything will overheat....gotta gear it accordingly, but a great 3S system, very reliable, had some for years!!!
@@gregganderson5479Ok you probably can't name more harsh conditions that a user would be in, so let's blame that on the manufacturer, I run in heat 90+, dirt and asphalt, and no problems...but I don't blame Traxxas for everything!!!! VXL 3S 💯👍👍 imo!!!!
So. This one, CEN or the MPI WR8? Want a rally car my first one! Don’t care about price, but one has limited parts backup. At least at the online hobby places. Thank you
I have all three of those trucks. If you want a true rally experience, go with the HPI. It's bullet proof and so fun to drive. Handles super well. Traxxas VXL is actually a short course truck with a rally body. It's a great truck but you'll need the mods Jason mentioned New motor and ESC and GTR shocks. Also, a center diff. The Traxxas starts to get pricey after all of that. Will also need a better motor mount (Kingheadz makes a 7075 aluminum upgrade). Stock servo on the Traxxas sucks, too.
@@gregganderson5479 one issue at least in the US CEN and HPI are out of stock most every where! All on back order. That’s OK! I almost purchased the Traxxas, until I watched lots of videos, and talked to a guy the has one, and works at a hobby shop. He put into it almost as much as he paid when new he said just keep away from it. And wait for one of the others, and he sells the Traxxas ones! The radio on the CEN is so outdated looking, but I was told when they come back into stock it will come with an updated radio! The other thinks is parts, AMain has a few in stock, but said most things will have to be ordered from AMain or better yet HPI. So I’ll have to see what becomes available. But I leaning towards the HPI. Thanks for your information!
We have a couple of these and love them . 💯

How's the center diff in the Rally?

I was so impressed with how durable and nimble the this car is. So I got my first 4x4 Slash too. This hobby is so damn addicting.
Yeah the rally fiesta is literally same size as my tekno EB48 😅
I run 3665 hobbywing it tight fit but it does fit
this should come with fans on the esc and a heatsink and fan on the motor out the box for its price imo ...... still a amazing car
Try a hobbywing 80a 3652 4000kv setup. Much better than stock actually smaller too

I'd say the HPI needs the least amount of tweaking out of the box. CEN is also a good option, though.
