Hi, I was an audio engineering major. Yes, his voice is edited. It's not THAT heavy (though still incredibly obvious to the trained ear), but yeah it's totally normal for some people to not detect it. Modern pitch correction software sounds absolutely nothing like the autotune stereotype.

Autotune doesn't have to sound like T-Pain to be present, it's used in literally (edit: not actually literally) every song you have ever heard that isn't live or a live recording. Imagine charlie singing live directly into a microphone, and compare that thought to what you hear him singing in this song.

Charlie has a way with words that is mostly innocuous but once in awhile they sucker punch you with an uncomfortable truth. Song gives me early 2000 vibes. It sounds like something that comes on when your driving home at night. It just makes you zone out during the drive. The song made me reminisce on the good old days when times were simpler. I legit laid in the back of my truck and just looked up at the stars listening to this master piece. This song also made me take a long walk through my neighborhood and act like I was Charlie in the song. just walking trying to figure out my life. Best song I’ve heard in a while. Autotune doesn't have to sound like T-Pain to be present, it's used in literally (edit: not actually literally) every song you have ever heard that isn't live or a live recording. Imagine charlie singing live directly into a microphone, and compare that thought to what you hear him singing in this song.

Satire band or not, this song came at a time when I really needed to hear it. This is really good, but I can't help but laugh at the behind-the-scenes: Charlie and Troy walking on loud treadmills with a neon green wall behind them lip-synching with a completely straight face.
At first, I was laughing when I could clearly see the lights come into frame at 2:40. But as the video goes on, the camera zooms further away, revealing the whole setup, the lights, the backdrop, everything. Truly revealing that, like the video, the love they had for the girl was but only an illusion, a false love that tricked us into believing it was real.
