    Wow what a phenomenal video! I had no idea about Dionysus beginning a path of faith after that, that lead to a church in Athens, wow. Thank you, this brought tears to my eyes because to think, God has such amazing timing, to bring people to His truth...He did it in my life long ago too. I'm so thankful, this was inspiring!

    This was so incredibly impactful, from beginning to end. I just read Acts 17 and was so moved by the Athens section that I had to look for more commentary on this and came across this video. Thank you for compiling this. Super insightful! Wow!

    Outstanding video. I was just randomly searching for videos about the altar of the unknown God and, as a cinematography and filmmaking nut, the camera specs being in the title caught my eye. I can't believe how good the editing, the score, and the color grading is in this video.

    Acts 17 brought me here!
    That scripture is so appropriate for where we are today. The “knowledge” era.
    Today we are seekers of a multitude of “gods.”
    Another word for gods today can be options, preferences, resources.
    We pick what we wish to serve us. Then dedicate ourselves to it.
    That would qualify atheism as a false god.
    Somebody in Athens was smart enough to make a statue saying “TO THE UNKNOWN GOD” as an option to add to the many gods of the day.
    Paul preached that God to the people.
    That statue represented the only God that was actually God.
    Although man bears the fingerprint of God, God must be discovered by man.
    Without knowing the true God, all that is left are the false ones.
    Amazing work on this video.

    Thank you. I stood on the Areopagus hill just a few days ago. While I wouldn’t call myself an atheist, I also don’t regularly attend church. Still, it was a powerful experience, especially knowing the history of this place.

    Cultural context;
    Read Psalm 22; Jesus just identified on The Cross and hit his finishing move and picked up a special version of the 123

    I'm not sure how fruitful his work was in Athens. Afaik there were no major churches in athens and also greek religion stayed in Athens much longer than in Thessaloniki for example. In Thessaloniki in 300s they already started converting a lot of well-known buildings into churches

    5/02 Please mention who three Stoics from Paul hometown Tarsus were as Paul mentions word Stoic in Acts 17/18 together with Epicureans
    8/41 Yes one of them was Eratus who wrote we are His Offspring ?
    Word philosophers as well as philosophia the subject in Colossians 2/8
    Where exactly is Saint Dionysius Street and is there Saint Paul Street nearby and Saint Damaris street?
    6/01 Is that Church dedicated to Saint Paul?How many are in Athens
    9/15 The Days of IGNORANCE are over /Words that are So offensive to modern ears /Are these words on Paul Sermon plaque ?
    Perhaps If you ever go back to Athens you could point them out since Secular West today is in secular Swamp of Anti spiritual ignorance

    You filmed in a world church where they have images and idols like your documentary was talking against

    • @specialedition3585
      @specialedition3585 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Images are NOT idols. Don't spout unbiblical anti-apostolic rhetoric. We do NOT worship images. God commanded the Israelites to make GOLD CHERUBIM on the ark of the covenant. God commands images of what's holy to be made by man as depicted in the bible.

      Yes, Paul was Jewish and then he came to believe in Christ as the Messiah. That was part of the reason was he was so troubled by the idols in Athens, because of the 2nd commandment. - Pastor Pete

    Why so credulous? Acts 17 is clearly a made up story. It’s full of anachronisms. In Acts, Paul debates the philosophers of Athens in the Agora but that has been destroyed and repurposed by that time in history. Furthermore, the philosophers would not have been debating the truths of Greek mythology. By that time in history they were stoicists and epicureans. The arguments that Paul makes in Acts are trite and easily dismissed.

    • @parklanechurch
      @parklanechurch ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but there is a lot of historical and literary evidence from ancient sources that Paul was in Athens and was brought before the Aeropagus. In addition, there are TONS of ancient sources that tell of the life of Dionysius the Aeropagite. Even though we disagree, thank you for watching and engaging our video. Best wishes, Pastor Pete

    99.9% of all humans will fail at understanding the Gospel, including pastors, priests, intellectuals, and academics to say nothing of laypeople or those congregating in churches. It is a very, very small minority who are guaranteed salvation through Christ’s atoning sacrifice, not because Christ or God will it so but because humans are playing out Adam’s Original Sin over and over again without understanding anything.
