I switched the 2023 san quentin 2 for the alcatraz and for now, this is all i need. Yeah, i'll have a sq too one day but M size felt too big unfortunately and i had a dj on my bucket list too so I went for it. Specs aren't great for the price, but ok. Djs are kinda niche anyway.
@@madcatz88 Thanks for the comment. Nice, yeah depending where you spend most of your time riding, an alcatraz could be all you need! Have fun with it!
thanks for the comment… Yeah, a lot of people like steel. I still have a surly with a steel frame and enjoy it (not sure if it because of the steel though). With a DJ, I’d probably go lighter if I had the choice but I’m sure there is a reason they stick with steel. Take care!
Thanks for the comment and question. For me the level brakes feel a bit stronger than the tektros so I’d go levels, but I wouldn’t necessarily rule out a bike for tektros either. Hope that helps
@@mcrides5967 Have you tried out the tektros yet?! If you don’t have another bike to put the Levels on, then yeah I’d just go for it. If you do, then I’d bed in the tektros thoroughly first and see if they are good enough for a DJ. Depending on what you want to do on your DJ, you may not need super strong brakes anyways. Some just roll with the rear only so they can do bar spins and what not. Up to you
It's simple bike math. If you're over 35, or hit BIG scary jumps, or don't trick as much get the PBJ. If you're younger than 30, or ride smaller terrain and prefer to trick don't get a PBJ. I say this as an old guy who hits big jumps with a PBJ, and recently purchased a smaller bike for tricking
That sounds like a good bike math equation! Yeah, my bike jumping days are probably behind me for many reasons, but props to those that can! Thanks for the comment
Are you an Alcatraz or a PBJ kind of person? Which one is your DJ of choice?!

I've got an 2021 Alcatraz so im going to have to go for the Alcatraz
@@tjade9150 Haha, right on! How do you like it?
@@BikingRoots To be honest I fricking love the thing. Its such an unique color scheme and its just so playful and controllable
I would go with the PBJ because it would last longer .
Yeah it might. Steel frames are pretty tough when built well so you’re probably right. Thanks for the comment
Good vibe riding😄 I have a soft spot for steel, so I’d go for PBJ.

Hey which brake is better sram level or tektro?

@@BikingRoots yes, it is because I bought a Marin Alcatraz and I have a pair of new sram level brakes ¿So would you recommend changing my brakes?
