that isn't an adding machine. It is a check writer. they were used to imprint the amount on bank checks before they were laser printed. We were definitely still using them in banking well into the 90s.

The real bargains were when Lions, Kiwanis, Jaycees, Elks, Masons, and other orgs had enough members and interest to have their own rummage sales where members and supporters made donations. You could get tremendous deals on great stuff that people were just unloading out of their attics and closets. Those days are over in a lot of places. Instead of renting out space for people to put full retail+++ on things. Kind of a waste of time if you're a flipper or collector on a budget.
