Yeah, the turn itself in that case wouldn't be crazy because 75-95 *isn't* 100%, anything that isn't 100% can miss, considering the amount of turns people will have spent overall in XCOM 2 this is bound to happen to a ton of different people, probably multiple times each.

Here is one of the dumbest encounters I’ve ever had: -My squad is surrounding a sectoid and 2 advent priests slav squatting next to a car like the gopniks they are -The priest at the back buffs the priest in the middle, the priest in the middle buffs the sectoid in front and the sectoid mind controls my gunner. They have literally made a conga line of buffing. -My squad takes turns at consecutively missing 80%-90% shots on the sectoid -The sectoid gets a crit on my ranger, instant death. One priest miraculously misses, the other casts stasis on my specialist. My mind controlled gunner takes a pot shot at my sharpshooter, he misses but he accidentally heavily damages the car adjacent to the alien conga line. -It’s finally my turn again. I’ve basically accepted my fate as my specialist lost their turn to stasis so only my sharpshooter is left, I aim for the priest at the back of the conga line and it hits, but it’s not enough. -The sectoid and priests finish off my specialist and my mind controlled gunner does what he normally does, he misses but damages the car again. -Then as the alien turn ends, the car explodes which kills the priest at the back of the conga line and sets off a chain reaction. The priest buffing the sectoid was being buffed by the priest in the back so he dies and since that priest was buffing the sectoid, the sectoid dies as well. *RNGesus giveth, RNGesus taketh away*
I don't understand why you couldn't simply focus your fire on the first priest or just spam esplosive to make the car go off so you can finish him later. NOOB. The chain reaction is a souble edged sword, you could have saved everyone!!!

BTW that 'tactical analysis' thing is a faction power, it cuts the actions of exposed enemies by one if you reveal them in your turn. It's broken and easily the best power in the game.
Most ridiculous combo I've found so far is Icarus armor plus Sharpshooter with the Darklance and High Ground ability. Infinite shots with the most damaging weapon in the game, basically. Had a UFO shoot me down and my Icarus sniper pretty much soloed the entire map in 2 turns while a Reaper ran forward to spot the generator. No damage taken and 20+ enemies dead by the time everybody had made it safely back to the Avenger. None of my other soldiers even fired a shot :P.
Honestly I love this. I know strategy game fans tend to be obsessed with balance, mostly thanks to the [ugh] multiplayer scene. But when a strategy game just throws caution to the wind and introduces an overpowered element to the game? To allow the player to do something ridiculously powerful? It's fun! And sure, obviously the game shouldn't spoonfeed you that power from the start. But XCOM War of the Chosen made me feel genuinely rewarded for killing the Chosen. Now I have a soldier with a katana that pierces armor and never misses and a powered suit with a jetpack, who can easily murder an entire pod of aliens in one turn by themselves. It's a unique cathartic feeling that you don't usually find in modern RPGs and Strategy games.
The reason why they didn't slaughter him is because Tactical Analysis makes enemies unable to move and attack on enemies' first combat turn. Notice how the archon runs up to him, but then doesn't even attack.
Necaradan666 That is so useful, it makes gunslingers the perfect lost exterminators And nothing is better than going face off for the expedience while having quick draw
I want that, with my templar who has faceoff, on a mission where there is a Horde sitrep just get in the middle of the map have my reaper remote detonate a car or two then KILL EVERYTHING like I'm freaking chuck norris

I think it does that whenever it tries to autosave, since my game has it set to save after every round for some reason .
Tactical analysis is an order that you can choose by the way. Makes it so that when you reveal a pod, then only get 1 action point on their turn. Really useful for this strategy
you think that ranger is alive? he has a gate keeper and like 3 other top units after only him... you need like 2 decoys and aid protocol AGAIN just to have a chance
And he can literally run out of that entire mess. He's one move away from where he made his first super move to. He can easily regroup with the squad, away from the Gate Keeper without a lot of fuss. The Spectre and Andromedon are far more threatening in that position, but that's before leveraging anything else.
XCOM is always such an amazing journey, at the endgame your squad are living gods melting through alien hordes like the red right hand of death, and you think back to those early missions when they had a 45% chance to hit an Advent soldier who was three inches from their face.
welcome to xcom2! You can either: A) die instantly because of RNG B) use a single soldier to murder half the enemy team! C) die instantly because of RNG
I'm glad they found a way to make the already insanely overpowered Rangers even more overpowered... Although, i also found the sharpshooter to be amazingly powerful now. Give them the Hunters rifle, Icarus armor and bluescreen rounds, jump them to a roof right in the middle of a group of enemies and watch the show unfold! With some careful planning, i have had my sharpshooter take like 6-10 killshots against regular Advent in one turn, as the rifle gets free reloads, only needs one action to fire, AND the sharpshooter gets the benefit of Death from above! When they said the Chosen weapons were powerful, they weren't kidding...
I have a story of my own: and I know it's a mod so you can argue it doesn't really count, but it's not usually an overpowered mod. With Grimy's loot mod I got a ridiculously unbalanced sword. What it does is it increases damage by 2 every reaper kill instead of reducing it by 1. Lost mission comes up: my guy dances through the lost one slice at a time killing about 10 lost adding 20 damage to the sword. Then multiple alien pods activate, they run towards him making a horrible mistake as his sword is completely overpowered by now. After killing some humanoid aliens and some more lost on the way one slice sectopod kill. He did take some damage from the blast, but it was totally worth it. Meanwhile, the rest of the team just stands back a long ass way watching the unbelievable carnage. His teammate needed to give him another action point to cover some ground, but he alone in one turn took down most of the enemies. The katanas are picking up dust back at the avenger
i love the expansion because it gives you some safety net options when you fuck up with the companions and this isn't as insane as the sniper is in xcom one a high level sniper could kill every player in sight if posistioned right
The player could also activate the objective on that same turn, if I'm not mistaken. If the trooper is not the last to move, they can still activate an object after using up the moves.
There's no denying that this game is fun as hell. But I find a lot of the systems and mechanics to be extremely cheesy. It feels more like a game than believable sci fi world. This video is a perfect demonstration of how silly it gets.
I remember cornering the king viper with 3 bladestorm rangers and mox with retribution. Every ruler action it made it got minced. Fastest ruler kill I ever made
Best I've had so far is a pair of snipers cleaning 3 pods in X-Com2 (All expac accept WotC) Only Mod I had was bigger pods. 4 Archons 2 Codex's (= 1 Pod) 6 Ravagers (The ones that ate you in X-Com enemy within and turned your soldiers into zombies before they exploded making more) A red robot, and a bunch of others. 2 Snipers, 20 targets down. Both had death from above, both had serial, and both had the advanced stocks (2 free reloads) And one was a gunslinger with Faceoff. Wish I had recorded it as it was Epic. And yes Blademaster is great along with Reaper, you can get some REALLY cool stuff to happen. Spot an enemy Patrol while in stealth, Run ya ranger right up to whichever is a guaranteed kill, slice there face off, they become immune, pod triggers and they all try to run away, Blademaster procs on em all :D
Last mission I had my Templar on reaper and used rend with a Shockwave that killed 4 ppl allowing me to run him to the back of the map in one move. His mobility was 20 cause I sent him only on mobility increasing covert actions
Full Throttle on Skirmishers grants +2 mobility per kill on your turn. "Your turn" includes bladestorm kills during the Lost/Aliens turn. Throw on a Speed PCS, a few covert ops that give +1 Mobility, Combat Serum, and you can cross the entire map on a blue move. The funny thing? I discovered this by accident on a Lost Supply crate mission.
Have done something similar several times, cause both my sniper and my ranger have the death from above perk, which means every kill grants a free shot, and if that shot kills, another free shot. Chosen sniper only requires one action and can be fired as this free shot. Free movement on high ground is granted by snake and archon suit, and the rest of the team only have to provide shred and rupture, and supply action points.
That's where you are wrong. Yes on paper it says "only cost one action and does not end your turn", but in reality it is achieved by refunding 1 action point after the kill shot, same way as implacable or momentum. Try it with the chosen sniper or find another class who gets the ability from training center, you'll be surprised.
nah. bladestorm with between the eyes means you can just leave a ranger entirely unprotected in the middle of a horde of lost and they'll break on her sword like water on rock
You could also use inspires on him to break the combo even more ridiculus point. (At most 3 use since skirmisher, bondmate and the main dish already clamps 3 slots)
Mine was when one of my snipers one-shotted the berserker queen with a normal repeater with 20% of probability of hitting the target... So sad and angry for not recoeding it though.
Not sure if this works but if you run and gun shoot/slash on the turret before giving him the second advanced teamwork, you could have killed it with a second slash and keep reapering. Is that right?
I really want that to happen now... imagine playing as one of the enemy faction small leaders you kill, that’d be a great way to provide story and bring more remembrance to a forgettable character
EvilNecroid they can't be shot while moving, which makes them immune to overwatch. But on your turn they just stand there in humanoid forms which are just as easy to hit as the average trooper
Now Imagine if RNG fucked him and had one of them copy his serpent character! Its good to get strong characters but not when you let these guys copy them.
the lost make it a looot easier to rake up multikills tbh. with the arashi and a good shot you can pretty much have a 10+ lost killed on one round and one guy, provided there's no "superheavy" lost and they are all in range. works with pistolero build snipers too. saving the sniper for the enemies that have 9+hp, mopping the rest with the chosen pistol (which is EPIC) i had a battle against 34 lost over that very map for intel, these things fall to overwatch and rangers like flies. it was over in 5-6 rounds.
I once had Lost and Advent... was out numbered, resources were thin, just started dropping bombs on the stairways and the doors to isolate my squad up there and just continue to drop the rest of the bombs on Advent below, after that took cover and waited for Advent and Lost to wipe each other out... one Muton was left and surrounded by 6 total box rows of Lost, he was doing his best.
MrYanCia it is the serpent suit from alien hunters. Serpent suit grants frostbite grapple and some stat boosts. Oh and also a chance to panic vipers with suit's presence.

I discovered this by accident on a Lost Supply crate mission.
wait what the fuck. any video recording?
wut? it works, what the hell, that's one long ass move, you turned my stoorm troopers on olimpic runners.
Damn that was cool. Thanks for posting and its perfect to me!
Have done something similar several times, cause both my sniper and my ranger have the death from above perk, which means every kill grants a free shot, and if that shot kills, another free shot. Chosen sniper only requires one action and can be fired as this free shot. Free movement on high ground is granted by snake and archon suit, and the rest of the team only have to provide shred and rupture, and supply action points.
death from above reduces shot action cost to be 1 and non-turn ending it shouldn't be giving any free actions.
And I'm continuously missing 97% shots... I love this game!!!
sharpshooter with face-off and between the eyes order. yeet
nah. bladestorm with between the eyes means you can just leave a ranger entirely unprotected in the middle of a horde of lost and they'll break on her sword like water on rock
you gotta give him the berserker queen armor. extra move distance and a free melee attack
You could also use inspires on him to break the combo even more ridiculus point. (At most 3 use since skirmisher, bondmate and the main dish already clamps 3 slots)
Or: ADVENT's very bad no good day
The mission isn't over once you hack the workstation, you still need to kill all enemies on the map
The craziest turn for me is when I one-shotted a Chosen using Mox's bullpup. Equipped with a Superior Repeater of course 😆
Mine was when one of my snipers one-shotted the berserker queen with a normal repeater with 20% of probability of hitting the target... So sad and angry for not recoeding it though.
11:49 - Gatekeeper straight up kills Evanescence. And them brings her to life lol
That was absolutely incredible.
Not sure if this works but if you run and gun shoot/slash on the turret before giving him the second advanced teamwork, you could have killed it with a second slash and keep reapering.
Is that right?
Reminds me of the Eversor assassins from Warhammer 40k.
so that was basically the turn based equivalent of "Ninja anime guy cut everything in half at the speed of light"
Great video brother have a safe and amazing night! God bless!
I like how they call the squad "menace one five" = M15... Or Miss.
The squad is Menace 1, Menace 1-5 refers to the squad leader. Menace 1-6 would be the commander, and Menace 1-7 would be Central.
lol if this was in real time he would be moving at the speed of sound or smth, flashing all around the map and slashing aliens down
*teleports behind you*
this guy is playing 3d chess while we’re playing checkers
I really wanna see this as narrated by Videogamedunkey....
Phoenixon If only Dunkey didn't dislike turn based games.
so this is how warframe would look if it was turn-based strategy game
I really want that to happen now... imagine playing as one of the enemy faction small leaders you kill, that’d be a great way to provide story and bring more remembrance to a forgettable character
What was the armor on him from, the serum?
You get it from the Alien Ruler DLC. The one he's wearing is from killing the Viper King.
Positively Rabbid, I'd say...
Demiath I see what you did there...
the slack notification at 1:41 gave me a damn heart attack
If you wanted you could have added a psi-operative with stasis and some other nice things to ensure your yolo-ists survival
Where did ur ranger get 6 points of armour from?
Just realised how bloody difficult this game is. ^^
10:54 how do u kill those fuzzy guys?
EvilNecroid they can't be shot while moving, which makes them immune to overwatch. But on your turn they just stand there in humanoid forms which are just as easy to hit as the average trooper
They can be shoot. They just got Lighting Reflexes. So the first shot is automatically missed.
Actually, I just killed one of those guys with overwatch. Granted my hole team (6 members) used their shots, but he's dead.^^
Now Imagine if RNG fucked him and had one of them copy his serpent character! Its good to get strong characters but not when you let these guys copy them.
how, i believe they invulnerable while moving like that.
What is the mod that skips the animation of each enemy pack when you encounter it for the first time in the mission?
the lost make it a looot easier to rake up multikills tbh. with the arashi and a good shot you can pretty much have a 10+ lost killed on one round and one guy, provided there's no "superheavy" lost and they are all in range.
works with pistolero build snipers too. saving the sniper for the enemies that have 9+hp, mopping the rest with the chosen pistol (which is EPIC)
i had a battle against 34 lost over that very map for intel, these things fall to overwatch and rangers like flies. it was over in 5-6 rounds.
I once had Lost and Advent... was out numbered, resources were thin, just started dropping bombs on the stairways and the doors to isolate my squad up there and just continue to drop the rest of the bombs on Advent below, after that took cover and waited for Advent and Lost to wipe each other out... one Muton was left and surrounded by 6 total box rows of Lost, he was doing his best.
omae wa mou shinderu
Nani?!
I got serial on one of my rangers, so all kills give him actions, got the arahashi early so he can solo most missions.
Got Serial on my ranger today, you can imagine what this would be like with that ontop of it all
Cranor I believe it's the Sharpshooters the ones that have Serial.
You can cross-train them with random abilities from other classes, remember?
Indeed you can, having your ranger run around shooting everyone down and getting back their AP is amazing.
thst's someone wet dream. assuming the RNGod didn't curse you.
My question is what difficulty is this? Before WOTC I played on legendary difficulty but now with WOTC I struggle on commander.
the struggle will end once you start taking out the chosen, also if u get "between the eyes" the lost are a joke.
Chosen weapons are great, (specifically hunter weapons and katana) they can be abused with their gimmicks.
What about a The teamwork thing and Psionics inspire?
What? No Metal Gear Solid song for the Snake man?
This was incredibly cool!
What armor is that character wearing
Kid Wesus Viper suit, from the Alien Hunters dlc.
Really doesn't surprise me. My first playthrough taught me reapers and rangers were absolutely op.
I made a gunslinger on one campaign. Took him on every Lost mission possible. One mission and in one move he killed over 20 lost with Faceoff.
I once got serial on a ranger so I could reaper everyone and then serial them all to death
I've done a few missions myself in a single turn. It takes a lot of thinking, planning and using sleek combination of skills but it's very possible.
I don't blame the Hunter for not showing up for this one. He probably looked at this situation and decided he didn't want to deal with this today.
which helm and armor is that one?
MrYanCia it is the serpent suit from alien hunters. Serpent suit grants frostbite grapple and some stat boosts. Oh and also a chance to panic vipers with suit's presence.
