- Actors Who Had To Perform Dangerous Stunts Behind The Scenes
Hey, TheThings fans! Welcome back to another video. Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean is a franchise that’s packed with action and stunts. We’ve been taught to look at most films as fictional, but the truth is that a majority of the sword fights, cliff jumping, and ship robbing scenes were filmed in full by the actors and their stunt doubles.
As you can imagine - these scenes often got dangerous. In this video, we’ll be walking you through all of the scenes from The Curse of the Black Pearl through Salaza’s Revenge that were treacherous to film and even sent some of the cast on an ambulance ride to the hospital.
However, you’ll be shocked to find out that a lot of these dangerous scenes don’t actually look all that dangerous in the final cut. Something as simple as a wet deck on a ship caused catastrophe on these films.
One of these scenes was so perilous it completely ended the career of one of the film's stunt doubles. And - if you thought Johnny Depp was a dedicated actor before, wait until you find out what he went through to bring Captain Jack Sparrow to life. Or the accident that happened on set to Keira Knightley when she was just seventeen.
Seeing the behind the scenes making of these dangerous scenes and what actors and stunt doubles actually put on the line for a film will completely change your perspective on Hollywood. The success of the first movie and the sequels got more ambitious and expensive in scale, with their use of practical effects and convoluted character dynamics serving to complicate the adventure format, with mixed results. It shouldn’t shock you then, to hear that each of the movies released so far had some serious behind-the-scenes battles to make them shipshape.
Yeah the sheer logistical scope of 2&3’s production was an Herculean task. From the on location filming to the massive production sets and crew accommodations, it’s insane they even finished on schedule. Problem was the writers really delayed getting the script fully written to the point the director was frustrated with them during the production which left literally no time to solidify the story upon completion
Even then, what was achieved visually in these adventure epics is incredible and testament to Hollywood craftsmen
Johnny loved being Jack Sparrow but Disney turned their back on him when he was going through this court trial with his ex Amber Heard , shame on them🤨🤨🤨

Many main actors aren't allowed to do stunts because it would hold up the production if they would get injured.

I fully respect the actors for risking them selves to make my childhood movie look amazing.
I'm also heartbroken on how badly Johnny was treated by Disney & Warner Bros before knowing the facts. And here Amber is still chasing Johnny and joining him in a hotel room to supposedly say good bye in a loving way - to hold him! I heard that she said she just wanted to hold him. Johnny's words: "Get out," get out!!" She finally said: "I'm going."

It is insane to me that anyone, stars or extras or stunt people, should be at so much risk for a MOVIE. Everyone in this video is being very cheerful -- "It was fun!" "I love a challenge!" -- but they are putting themselves at great risk for no reason. I have to believe that there were safer ways to get these shots. Someone was not being responsible here.

Stunt actors are the unsung heroes of movies. That being said, I’m fine with reducing stunt risk levels and/or using CGI to better protect stunt actors from such serious injuries, even if the result isn’t as cool

@Kristopher Prime I wonder if that line only applies to anything larger than small ocean fish, it would be hard to tell or keep track of animals like dolphins or sharks or whales dying caused by filming unless that statement was included because nothing actually got harmed (to their standards)(besides the fish they mentioned)

as much as I have a respect for those actors and stuntmen, I also question Disney's unprofessional stunt coordinating.
All these injuries and potential serious damages just show how irresponsible they are.
