The thing I love about games like this is that you might wander into a sports bar and potentially play the world's #1 and never know it. Everyone can be a hero.
That reminds me of when our company was bought by a larger org, that had locations around the world. During our first all hands meeting, we discovered a few locations had some pretty serious fossbal players (while at a pub during the event). Shortly after that, most locations had bought a table or two, and the next global meeting we had a tournament. While none of us were "pros" the games were intense, and made for some proper team building or rivalries.
I love sports like this, air hockey, chase tag, paintball, all of that stuff. You get people playing because they love it. The passion, the emotion, the tension, the drama is all as compelling as it gets. There's something about the big league jaded athlete making more per game than most people make in a year, in an arena or ballpark or stadium where a seat can cost as much as some people make in a week that has soured me on those sports. I'd much rather watch something like this these days. It's always more entertaining and it's fun to check out something different for a change. Everyone involved here did a great job. I'm paused at the start of the 3rd set here, so time to unpause it and see how the rest of this unfolds. Cheers friends.

This has to be one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen torn ACL’s in disc golf and that’s understandable, but an injury in air hockey??? 🤣🤣🤣🫡
@@MPHshoots How are you confused? They use a lot of fast twitch movements and drive thrust through their legs. It's literally exactly how muscle injuries happen.. Literally look at the actions they're making in front of you and apply logic instead of reading the words air hockey and instantly assuming idiotic things.

He’s a fast dude for sure! Quick twitch muscles are essential in being the best at Air Hockey. Also, it’s about intuitively understanding where the puck is moving so you can get out ahead of it.
lol, yeah, the guys do contort themselves super fast at times. You wouldn't think it would happen, but it's more physical than you realize with fast twitch muscles.
I honestly think I could compete at this game at a professional level. I have played a bunch but never seen the way that the professionals play, but now that I have I think I really have a shot at it
You have every chance to prove that. We offer an open $1000 challenge. Defeat the channel’s own Jacob Weissman in a 4 of 7 set and we will hand you $1000 cash. We get to record it and we promise to post it - win or lose. You can also join the community on Facebook and find player groups to join - The Centerline Pro Air Hockey Group.
I don’t want to make a mistake: both these dudes are masters. But *at peak* Colin seems to possess an otherworldly, savant quality in how he constructs some shots. Jacob’s approach seems entirely different, playing more aggresively and therefore with more chances to score, but not as surgical.
How is posession determined after the ouck flies off the table? I cant seem to find a pattern. Sometimes it seems like it goes back to whoever had last controlled posession, but then other times it seems like it goes to the other person. But it doesnt alternate... How does it work?
When a puck flies off, the player who gets possession is the one who made the last defensive strike on it. Whoever made the last offensive strike loses possession. Offensive and defensive strikes are determined by whether the mallet is moving forward (offensive) or sideways/backwards (defensive).
I'm guessing by that point that his glasses were becoming an obstacle for him anyway. He frequently adjusts them in the last game, so I'm thinking they were probably sweaty and falling off of his face as it was.
(very late new comment) yeah I stumbled onto this video and I gotta say compare to these guys my free games i play i would have no chance to go pro lol
Join us on Facebook at Centerline Pro Air Hockey Group. You can find players in your area or get help starting a group. Also find out about the events!
Fouls exist. You can not put your mallet on top of the puck to stop it. Whoever makes the last offensive strike on the puck before it flies off commits a foul and possession goes to the opponent. You can not strike a puck if it is fully across the centerline. You can not touch the puck with anything other than your mallet. All these are fouls.

How is this not on the level of Darts yet?
Because it's not a suitable for an audience. The puck moves so fast you don't see it when they shoot. Also, this get very repetitive after a while. :)

Question: does this game have a room for foul or cheating?
Fouls exist. You can not put your mallet on top of the puck to stop it. Whoever makes the last offensive strike on the puck before it flies off commits a foul and possession goes to the opponent. You can not strike a puck if it is fully across the centerline. You can not touch the puck with anything other than your mallet. All these are fouls.
