    When Chrissy articulates the anguish and fear of passing along her childhood pain and people pleasing impulses to her children, it is so raw and real... and I feel that fear! Thank you to Chrissy for sharing this and thank you, Mel, for the guidance. I needed to hear these words!

    I prayed to get my power back!

    Most people are too self absorbed to even give a single thought about you - just as you worry about what they may think about your outfit or hair etc - they are thinking about their wrong choice of shoes or health concerns- learned this on some ones podcast and it helped me

      @@palestar828As far as I understood, it‘s about stopping the unproductive worrying about what others think in terms of catastrophique thinking and lowering one‘s self-worth because of the IDEA of somebody not liking you. For sure you want to have a good reputation, you want to be liked, have loose and high ties and establish relationships where you not only invest in but also profit from. But all of this to a certain extend.

    Hmm, this is a hard one, given the online bullying she done herself towards teenagers, and Michael Costello. I did really enjoy this episode though, and I do relate to Chrissy in the sense of people pleasing when younger, and how your body wasn't your own. This has definitely given food for thought, and a lot of emotions to ponder. Thank you.

      You might want to do some research on Chrissy Teigen & her bullying tweets. She is not someone I would ever want to “feel less alone” with. She was a cyber bully, even encouraging a young model to kill herself. She’s since apologized, but she’s a nasty person.

Thank you Mel 💛

    my fear of losing my relationship with my kids because they just didn't understand me. I spent years trying to explain myself, destroyed me. They never did understand, and yes I Iost my relationship with them. I struggled for years wishing we could go to counseling so we could understand each other. To this day we still don't speak. They are so critical of me and how I lived my life. They made me believe I truly was a ugly person. You see, we are all the victims of loving an alcoholic person. So, here I am listening to learn to let go, to let them.

      Chrissy doesn’t need to get stuck in their drama because she creates enough of her own. I would do your research on her. She is a cyber bully & has said some horrible things to & about young people.

    Being good means being accepted and loved. If I’m not accepted and loved then I may end up all alone and that is the scariest place in the world to me. When you are your true self people usually don’t like it especially if you have always been “good” and they leave you. Then you are alone. I haven’t gotten to the place where being alone is better than being “good”.

    • @bethmessineo2194
      @bethmessineo2194 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      I understand what you are saying intellectually but what do you do with the guilt and uncomfortable feelings about how you made someone else feel because you didn’t care what they thought? I know I’m not responsible for someone else’s feelings but I am. It feels selfish and -itchy to not care. I’m always filtering what I think, feel, write because it may offend, hurt, or make someone mad or sad. I’m also hurt by other people not caring what I think or feel. I want them to take that into consideration before they speak or act. They aren’t responsible for how I react but I think we should be considerate of others. How do you find that line or boundary?

    • @whatlifeisabout
      @whatlifeisabout 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      When we start being authentic that's when they might see the good in us. When we try to please, we come off as desesperate and it doesn't help. But do not wait for someone to like you, that's the main message, cause then you become a slave to them.

  • @MissSothePeacefulObserver
    @MissSothePeacefulObserver 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +6

    I think this is especially hard for women, because we are raised from the time we are little girls to be "people pleasers", caregivers, etc.
    I was so painfully shy and quiet for most of my life. It's only been the past 15 years or so that I finally removed the filter between my brain and keyboard and now just say what I think.
    The problem is, I've gone so far the other way, that sometimes I can be abrasive, instead of just confident.
    It can be hard for women to figure out the balance between speaking our opinions or being harsh, because society judges us for our opinions so harshly in general.
    So sometimes I regress and get quiet again (or passive aggressive) if those old insecurities start showing up again.
    If women are too opinionated, we're seen as "problematic" even if our opinions are valid.

    It's two different things. People talking about you is one thing , but powerful people who manipulate, attack and torturing your life, with conspiracy, sabotaging, threats, intimidation and more, is another thing. It's a very serious situation. In such situations, only the power of God can protect and deliver someone from that such conspiracy!!!

I try not to judge because who am I to judge her, she may be a great person, however did she consider what impression she would give off upon writing those terrible tweets. However I wish for her to overcome this issue and live a happy life.

    So, does that mean we should not think about what others think of us at all? Because I think it makes sense because if we have a decent level of self-awareness, we already know who we are almost if not 100%. And I think many people are just too impatient to Label or Tag you something because they operate based on Anchoring Bias that is they are too quick to judge even if they don't have complete data about you based on mere physical appearances or just first interactions. And I think as Mel beautifully pointed out here that we are doing good in our own lives that is the ultimate goal of life, and I think we automatically get some validation as a byproduct. So "Let Them" is that short code which fits in many situations to take care of all that anxiety and stress that we need not to carry with us every time.

    I didn't really think it would be a life-changing to listen to... But I was wrong. I am changed.
