  • This video summarizes our most recent camping adventure in the high peaks wilderness in the Adirondacks. We camped at Draper's Acres near Lake Placid, NY. We spent 5 nights camping, two of which we camped in the rain. Since we knew we may be camping in the rain we purchased a Kodiak Canvas tent that is waterproof. We hiked Algonquin Peak as a family, we found Labradorite in the Keene Valley area, visited the Almanzo Wilder farm as described in the book Farmer Boy by Laura Ingals Wilder. We also went to the Wild Center in Tupper Lake for the first time and saw lots of cool animals and wildlife there! We enjoyed our time in nature that always seems to sooth the soul and relieve the stress of life. One important note that was not included in this video is that we put our tent away while it was still wet from the rain. Whenever you put a tent away while it's wet it needs to be dried out as soon as possible. We had to set up the tent again when we got home and let it dry outside and then put it away again when it was dry. Happy camping!

This looks like so much fun! I love that you bought cots “in case” it rained.

Yep! Just for the rain. It had nothing to do with a comfortable nights sleep 😉
