You know what? This is a much easier review to understand for a regular non-connoisseur drinker. I'm sick of hearing about wood and fruits, it's booze to me. When she talks about "burns" or "easy to drink" I know what she means. I'm gonna buy a bottle of Plantation now...
Plantation is one of my favorites. Nothing like a smooth sipping rum that goes easy on your nose with each sip.
Plantation is my go to sipping rum. The reason its above the rest is master distiller Don Pancho Fernandez. "El Ministro del rum". The complexity of his rums are unparalleled. His latest project is a rum from Panama called Nativo. Available in

And overproofed. If you like plantation I recommend to try these. I had them in Miami and they were fantastic!
I really like the glasses she was sampling the rum in! I saw the Plantation Guyana rum at one of the nearby liquor stores. Good review.
What is the purpose of asking to a newbie in Rum which one is the best since, what she's looking for is easy and sweet stuff? Of course, she'll go for the candy sirup Plantation instead of the more subtile rum without added sugar like Mount Gay XO. Its a no brainer! But the best of them all is the Mount Gay : More rich, complex without added sugar.
Plantation xo is verry good but That's just what I think.

Listen up buddy: people differ like tastes and one man's meat can be another man's poison! I , for instance, like various kinds of liquors: whiskey, rum, bourbon, cognac etc. Sometimes I'd rather my rum had some sweatness to it and in most cases this is so. if i feel like drinkin' something heavy and "dark" or rough-I'm into Ardbeg 10 or something in the lines of that, if I'm frozen to the bones-I'd rather be drinkin' a shot of rye which goes a long way on a cold evening, if i'm in kinda philosophical mood-i'm into cognac, but if I'd like to fancy myself a pirat-then of course I'll be drinkin' R.S. Seal! It all depends maty! But I 'm never categorical on what's better Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva or Zacappa 23 Solera (it ain't a shitty stuff at all) or Mount Gay XO.!
they actually age the mount gay rums in old Kentucky whiskey white oak barrels (except for the "black barrel edition, which goes through a finishing process in bourbon oak barrels). I'm fairly sure of it :) enjoy

That's plantation XO 20th anniversary. It's ages between 12 to 17 I believe. And it's aged in cognac barrels.
8-10 years on bourbon barrels, then 2-10 years on cognac barrels in france.

My. Gay is one of my favorites and I use it to introduce my bourbon drinkers to rum. If I want a more molasses taste, I would go with an Appleton Estates.
