When I lived in El Salvador my mom taught me to shine my school shoes (we had to wear dress shoes with our uniform every day) And I shined my shoes every single Sunday night from second grade all the way to ninth grade. This takes me back so much!!

It’s better in person. I like getting my shoes done when I go visit. It’s so satisfying relaxing not sure how like I get chills even. There’s something to the art of shoe shiners. I always try to tip them well

Boy this takes me back to when I was serving in the Armed Services there where guys outside would take your worn out boots and turn the into mirrors. Shoes I sworn were smiling back at me. Don't forget to tip these guys.

My grandpa made me a shoeshine box when I was a kid I used to shine his shoes for him, man I wish I still had it. When i shined his shoes it was just me and him, he is probably the most influential person of my life, and I miss him everyday.

Went to a casino in Louisiana the horseshoe, before the covid they had a shiner out in the lobby. Forgot his name but he was an artist also.

When I was a kid, my Grandmother Always said that how a person takes care of their shoes was a good indication of how they paid attention to the other things in life. I'm 68 and to this day, one of the first things I notice is a person's shoes.

Bringing back about 10 years of memories in the Army before we switched to tan suede boots. I used to sit up every night and shine my boots before bed. This dude would have made a killing working outside any military base until about 2007 lol
That shine would pass inspection. We had several guys who wore patent leather jump boots, '71 to '74!

No machine can do this and bring up that warm feeling of appreciation to another man's effort, energy, passion and talent to provide such a service to another human being. At the end I felt like I was seeing my own reflection watching this video on the man's shoe. Yes, we live in the machine, AI & tech era yadi yada... but at the end there is nothing above the human experience. Nothing beats the human brain and hands at work!
As a Marine who used to shine my own boots, I really appreciated this mans talent. Way better at it than I ever was
Back when I was still married, he was in the Navy and I got really really good at shining shoes and ironing lol. I always tried to make sure everything about his uniforms was squared away so he didn't have to worry about it.

When in the army, i shined my boots a lot. But i did not remove the old top layer, cleaning, oiling, and impregnate the leather. Before putting on a new layer of cream and wax, and polishing. Thats what made this guys work better, he took it all the way.

I swear everytime I thought that the shoes were clean enough and thought the job is done. The guy would come back with another concoction to make it even better. Superb job, the shoes did come back to life.

Shoe polishing is an art. Restoring the shoe shine to its near orinalty is more than art and creative. I salute such artists and they need to be showered with praises including recognising their art and hard work. I pray our Indian cobblers and shoe shines get due recognition of their profession.

I had to learn to clean and polish my own boots and shoes in the military. I have a lot respect for people who do this for a living. I remember a lady in Tampa Bay who had a shoeshine stand inside a prestigious hotel near the airport. She dressed elegantly in a business suit and she had a lot of hotel patrons as her customers.
