Thoughts on the "new" ck3 dlc? I really wish they added some traditions for the new ancient cultures you can get. Also I had originally tried doing this video on reviving the Trojans but the Legend didnt even give me the heritage when I completed it -_- Also, yes, I did fail at getting this video out in a reasonable time, but its a slippery slope, the longer I take to make a video, the better I feel it needs to be and then the longer I spend on it. Anyways sorry about that, hope you guys enjoy!!
I think the idea is good, but we need some time for updates to work out the kinks. I'm pretty happy at getting an option for migration campaigns and stuff. Lots of potential, but not yet there.
I seen Last Roman legend , does it give Roman culture that existed in the game for one or two years at this point which is unoptainable except the character creator.
Okay the intro is seriously well done, super interesting and it avoids being pretentious in the way that other youtubers can sometimes make the 'history reference' trope
This was awesome. Really fun idea! Totally agree that it's a bummer you don't get more from the cultural heritage. Should 100% be some unique traditions mixed in there too, Hopefully they add that in an update! And as always, an absolute treat to see a new Zieley video pop up in the feed :D
Glad your back with a new video had began to worry about you have been rewatching your other videos for awhile now while waiting on this thank so much for a great video
More Bookmarks+ actually has the Gothic culture that has its own gothic language and gothic aesthetics, but it is set to East Germanic Heritage so you could combine it with the Gothic Kings legend to create an actual full gothic culture.
48:34 the event spam in this game while you're trying to do stuff is insane 😂 It's always the most random shjt too. Or events with one option. Does that really need to be a popup?
Nice run. Did the reverse run, so I'm familiar with Kerch. Especially in 867 start is valuable because it's the first and only 2x castle+city combo as far as I know in all east Europe, and everything is tribal around it, except the north side of Bulgaria. Not sure how long ago exists, but there is this exploit I do, landing lowborns in secondary castle grants them a house membership, usually the name of the holding, for norse it's random, for asians is double the name. Landing them in counties gives them perks too (usually 5-9 based on age and education level, but random traits like scholar, theologian and architect unlocks the full tree and then another, even if they never were landed) but it's hard to revoke and recall them to court afterwards. Being part of a house, starts generating renown, they get 2 more kids and more fame, their kids also become more valuable, but in reach for a marriage. Might worth for high learning guys, I was able to land, fabricate claim, revoke, recall and had 37-40 learning priests and physicians, but until you get 3x amenities on everything, diplomacy and paying travel cost won't cut it. Friends, hooks and family member spouses might do the trick. It's just a quicker way to breed superior courtiers and family members to land them in cities, +2 kids while landed, quicker checks on fertility, until the female is 45 she can get to her kid limit quickly then you swap around. You marry old females for good knights, high stats and traits, then marry those for prestige, work up the prestige and repeat, let them breed in cities until you get high stat kids to marry to vassals. With enough cities (around 5-8, my top was 19, that's too much) you can get really high stat people in 2-3 generations. The thing you missed: Kerch is a Táltosism holy site. Probably Tengri or Khuzarite too. Horse breeder is a very common cultural pillar over there in the steppes, so you going for the long route felt weird, you could of hybridized for it later. And the reason they got it, is the Horse archers/Konni, not the cataphracts. Horse archers top Cataphracts and Konni because the counter efficiency. They are skirmishers countering their own category, which makes them stronger than Konni with higher stats. And the holy site comes with a cathedral in feudal, which gives 2-3? gold for 1000 investment, but also prowess and martial buffs. The other reason why it was optimal, is Kara Kerman, the bottom side of yedisan duchy, right next to Bugheac, over the Donav. That's another holy site. 3rd is Sarsyn which is more inside the Zaphorosia kingdom, Don valley, you didn't held that early, quite close tho. The last two are Budapest (Viegrad duchy, not the capital, that's for Krstjani) and Pozsony (Bratislava) in Slovakia, close to the trenchin gold mine. So you could easily gotten 3 sites to reform the faith how you want it. But just switching to Táltosism (if it still exists for Pechenegs) would of done the same as reforming Orthodox. Actually if you reform properly, your own holy orders are less busy so they add a lot of protection and stability. Most cultures tend to have horse breeders and the other cavalry related pillars, especially in 867. Getting 2-4 stacks of horse archers beats everything. In my runs, topped greeks in mountains, not on the plains, and they needed Camels to break my counter efficiency. Not sure why you dropped Byzantine traditions, gives the eunuchs and the blind/castrate options, formation strategy is interesting but might not worth. When I hybridized with Norse and russian, I only kept the Byzantine traditions and the mercenary tech in another run. I love military academies. Main capital I go tax office, maybe monolith but 2nd or 3rd duchy I use for academies (3rd when I got higher prestige level so counteracts opinion penalties for having 3 duchies). Actually having a young knight as a caravan master, while training knights is a crazy buff to top out prowess on the caravan master, since he is there in travels, and you get 2-3 increases in stats, usually lands on him, I was able to buff up like 10-15 prowess on 20 year kids. The horse related pillars also come with travel safety which is usually rough for most runs, if there are wars or control reductions, that makes long distance hunts totally safe. In one of my runs, accidentally raised troops too close, lost my warbanner for losing a fight with a few levies, it's interesting because you don't have that artifact until you lose it. I got it back and it was a higher quality one than usual since I had a lot of army. It's random but it can be a buff of 'number of knights +2' which is a bit unbalanced compared to most of the other tapestry and house banners. In the same run I captured another 3 with the same buff. Now, there is the military academy, and the books, and other stuff, like gallant tree 4 perks, etc. Found out that if you raise the number of knights, the bonuses to piety/prestige from other perks are quite good, but also setting my marshal on the training commanders gives recruits way more often. Seems like some sort of percentage check, like it gives higher value prowess options than what you got in those 14-20 knights you already have. Since the base is so low, like 8 knights, going +2+6 above, will grant you quite a few weak ones too. Micromanaging them, like forbidding old guys with infirm and forcing any military educated ones, seems to do the trick. It's a common event that they send courtiers to you and making them a knight is an option, it's basically the same as forcing them, so it can backfire if you got too many forced ones. What i found out, is that prestige is working reversely, high prestige knights tend to be selected for stat increase from 'random' training for both the academy/travel and the train commanders function. In that case, infirm/old age guys drop quite a lot in stats, so forbidding them or landing in cities to remove them, will drop the buffs on younger guys(I also keep one young councilor just in case my genius wife would train one). Especially useful if really high martial guys get prowess or high prowess gets martial, in case of military education. torturers can have high prowess and some steward hunters but still better to forbid them. Acolytes are cool, there are a lot of thug/marauder ones, but occasionally found a few other ones. Hunter+ travel safety (not sure which trait was that) is cool for hunts, had herbalist/gardener and one time a son born as a maxed out wise man (taltos) and he was picking up like 10-12 flowers during hunts. 40-80 gold each :D The other was disciplinary which reduces cost of upkeep for man at arms. Then ofc the troop specific ones, it's more rare, but with good knights I had pikeman/infantry/cavalry etc buff +2 to the stacks which stays after you max it out and even after losing that specific knights, you retain the units. Seems like they require some traits or stats to belong to same group, and the rare ones are better as you get good ones from searching for them compared to common ones. It's a weird thing that you got them in the menu but you need to go around and force those knights first to use them as successors. Also it seems that they can change their secondary functions on succession. Tldr, having many knight number modifiers with training them often is quite strong compared to other types of buffs. I had a literal 24 knight army, with everyone over 25-40 prowess, they basically killed every single ruler in Khazaria during 2-3 fights. I left them with baby rulers. Kind of missed out on legends, I think it's part of base game, I even saw the settings for it, setting it higher and more frequent is achievement safe but I totally missed out the window for it? :D Gotta check my last run.
Small correction at 6:48; As far as we know the Goths inhabited modern day Sweden (Gotland) and Poland (Pomerania) in the 5th century BC to the 2nd century.
You inspired me to do a similar playthrough, this is fun. It seems this legend generate claims to the Empire of Hispania. I think I will migrate to Spain after completing the legend ir order to roleplay.
After Zieley mentioned Monaspas as being his favorite unit, I tried giving Georgians a shot and holy hell. I wont lie, its tough playing them at first because they are surrounded by ridiculous enemies, but if you manage to survive and take over the Byzantines, they become destructive powerhouses. Its almost unfair how strong they are, esspecially if you get horse based traditions like horse breeders and cataphracts.
Zieley. I absolutely love the content you're sharing, I learn a lot -- even if I think I'll always prefer to watch you play CK3 than to play it myself -- and now I have to tell you something else : I really appreciate the fact you dont make commentaries on every single female character. keep it up, love watching u, cheers :*
Yeah, the larger TH-cam CK3 community is pretty trash. I don’t get the incest obsession thing either, seems like a lot of people love this game for the human breeding aspect 😬 very weird lol
It seems to me that Gothic Kings legend is for Iberian Struggle, and there you have some Visigothic traditions you can take there like Visigothic Codes. You won't have them available in the Pontic region.

don't worry bro, take your time, quality is better than frequency
I seen Last Roman legend , does it give Roman culture that existed in the game for one or two years at this point which is unoptainable except the character creator.
I was legitimately getting worried. Happy to see you back!
When Zieley said he was going to attack his blind brother in the middle of a plague, it reminded me why CK3 is one of the best games out there.
Yeah his brother definitely didn't see him coming.
