Happy New Year Cole! Graphic design of the early '80s was something special. So many sexy typefaces. I adore that phone pin too! My god, I would wear it all the time.
It's so crazy... zany even! that Avon marketed Skin So Soft as mosquito repellent and so many people bought into the idea and still do. I have an aunt who still breaks this out when she has cookouts at her house. It is a terrible mosquito repellent and you end up just feeling greasy and perfumey but with a bunch of greasy, scented mosquito bites.
Wow - I had no idea! So funny that this catalog had a note on that exact myth. 🦟 Avon made everything under the sun, why not just make a real mosquito repellent too?
Does anyone ever wonder why there are so many perfumes/scents? I know very few people who wear it so it's mind boggling to me. Fun to look back, though.
Maybe there was a cultural shift away from scented things to more "natural" products over the decades? I know that scented personal care products are now frequently avoided by many people (including me) because they can cause irritation to the skin. BUT perfume is just so beautiful and fun - so I get it!

I never cared about typefaces until I got so invested in Avon’s branding master class
Oh, I definitely remember the "Skin-So-Soft as an insect repellent" era. Yeah, never worked. LOL
I’m fascinated by this whole thing! I never knew!
