I'm a big thrifter. I hit up the stores in the wealthier parts of town as often they donate things after only a few wears. I once found a newer version lightweight 20° Coleman down bag for 25 CENTS. 😂😂
Definitely do a round two, maybe with Nick finding some deals. You can also find some decent used cast iron and stainless steel cookware for camping in there as well. Thrift stores are fantastic, when I was in high school in the early 90s we used to hit them at least once a month.
I always look for cast iron in the thrift stores! I would love to find some good thrift store deals for Nick. I think that will be a lot harder because there's not nearly as much men's stuff to choose from. It will be a good challenge!
I love thrift stores!! Would love more content like this. Also, do you have a video about the types of fabric to wear for different seasons while hiking/camping? Normally I like cotton but I gather from this video it's not good for hiking? I'd love to know more 😊
Yes! She made a video a couple years back about what to wear hiking - I found it super helpful: th-cam.com/video/lDWekb3hcgg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=76ndikSPcmdKexcc
Round 2 please!! This first round was great!! My family always look for camping clothes at thrift stores; especially warm clothing for those chilly summer nights in the Alberta Rockies ❣️
I personally like cotton because wicking shirts are too hot and get smelly fast. If the weather is questionable then yes wool or fleece. I always carry something with me but I prefer cotton or a blend most of the time. The sweaty shirt makes natural A/C. 😅😅
Round Two!! You’ve definitely inspired me cause I am in need of some warmer base layers. I really liked the video and thought it had good information. Quality was also top notch, I’ve watched for a year or two at least and it has only gotten better!
Yay! A new video! I've missed your content. That's an amazing deal 👍 Just out of curiosity, did you happened to noticed if the places you went to carried plus sized hiking clothing?
Happy to be back after a little break! 😀 I don’t recall if there were specific plus-size sections, but in general, I thought there was a big selection of clothes and sizes to look through in most of the stores!
I found a pair of patagonia pants for $6, 2 - Chaco hiking sandals for $8 and a brand new alpaca sweater for $9 at a thrift store in the past month. They are all my current favorites...so comfortable!
I thrift regularly, finding the right material is always the key as well as something that catches your eye so that you are excited to wear it. Great video❤
I always love what I call a 'shopping conquest'. When I was still working I'd get some crazy deals on eBay for dressy office clothing and shoes. We have a thrift shop in my town that specifically sells used outdoor gear. I buy my brother a gift card there every year for his birthday and he has scored some really great deals. A day pack that he said was usually well past $100 for something like $15, wader boots for fishing, etc. It's so cool.
THRIFTIN IS SUPER FUN - TO WATCH - JUST NEVER WOULDVE THOUGHT OF GETTING CAMPING ESSENTIALS - AS WELL - GOTTA DO MORE OF THESE - KIND OF VIDS - PRO TIP / LOOKING FOR MENS JACKETS - ALSO TRANSLATES FOR WOMEN - JUST GOTTA GET 2x SMALLER SIZING ... HAPPY THRIFTIN... ( : ) ) ...
Great video! Can you do an informational video about your favorite fabrics for hiking / camping? I know you really like wool for the winter, but what about spring, summer or fall? Thank you. I love your videos / content ☺️
She did one a couple years ago that touched on some stuff around fabrics that might be a helpful start! th-cam.com/video/lDWekb3hcgg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=76ndikSPcmdKexcc
ROUND 2! Love your channel! Would you do more on solo camping, please? Apologies for being off topic but: Do you "do" your brows yourself? They are great! What is the brand/color of your eyeshadow? Love it! Lastly, although you do not care for pink, it looks very good on you. 🤗
Thrift stores are fantastic. I have found some really great pieces in Oregon and Washington when I’ve visited. I found some great hiking pants here in CA. I love merino wool. I have never found that at a thrift store but I have found good deals at REI in CA and online with sierra trading post. I love the vest cuz it is so versatile. I have one I got from Patagonia cuz I live where their headquarters are located. But I wear it a lot. Always wise to thrift store first. Then look for sales. If you are patient, you can find great things. I will def keep my eyes open for merino wool or smart wool. You really want to pay attention to fabric and quality of the fabric. Keep up the good work
I love the idea of thrifting in theory, I just can't make it work for me. I never see good stuff like you found here! Some of that is regional - I assume the outdoor gear that gets thrifted in Utah or Seattle is going to be better than here in the mid-Atlantic. I think they key is going to the thrift store frequently, but doing that (and digging through everything) just takes a lot of time that I don't have. I also find that, like with the two polyester shirts you bought, I wind up getting things I don't really need or love just because they seem OK and are so cheap.
I assume you were shopping around Utah? I can definitely see a high amount of outdoors clothing being donated in that area. A little sparse in the flat Midwest for find in thrift stores here. But I really enjoyed watching this video and seeing your finds 👍
Every year our local marathon has an expo before the race. The local Goodwill saves all the donated running clothes throughout the year which is also good for hiking to sell at the expo. They have clothes for all seasons and I find all kinds of awesome clothes and deals at the expo every year.
I have never though to look for hiking gear in thrift shops. Now I need to schedule a girls thrifting day with friends. I do look for really good flannel shirts when I go.
Great finds on the Kühl stuff. Aside from quality gear they have awesome customer service. They repaired the snap button on my pants, no questions asked. The whole procedure to 10 days start to finish. I’ll be a lifelong customer.
I definitely want to keep looking for gear and clothing at the thrift stores! The cast iron pan I use all the time when camping is one that I found at an antique store. Thank you for watching!
My hiking wardrobe is 100% thrifted (well, minus socks and undies 🤣). I don't live in a hiking area, but there are a lot of people that run marathons here. We have a consignment sale in the area twice a year that is geared more toward kids, but there is a "teen/junior" section and I have found so many synthetic shirts that are perfect for hiking. I just buy my pants used off ebay. Not only do I save money, but I don't have to worry about ruining a $100+ piece of clothing out on a hike when I paid far under the retail price for it.
Round two! Yes please! Great finds! I feel like I will not have that luck here in Ohio. Utah yes where there are so many people doing outside activities. But I still want give it a try. Love your videos!
Love this video idea! Some of my favorite outdoor clothes are thrifted! Whatever I can wash on "hot" seems brand new to me 😊 can't beat $5 merino base layers!!
I will definitely try thrifting next time. Laughed my butt off because I have the exact same camo Columbia pants you were looking at. I never buy unless on sale but I'm sure mine were still way more expensive than the thrift version.
This was a fun video, I like thrifting...love how you showed the other options in store, to encourage others and show that there can be a lot of options.
I saved so much finding great hiking clothes at benefit shops. Patagonia base layer shirt, Arc'teryx fleece, merino wool beanie, and a lot of synthetic shirts & shorts. It also got me to buy clothes & colors that I don't normally wear to get me out of my shell so to speak hah. Great video.
Round 2! I very rarely buy new gear. There is so much available at the thrift, specially if you check back a handful of times. I understand the getting carried away aspect too! You definitely need to always have a list in your head to stick to. This reminds me of Stacked Golfs channel but for outdoors! They do so well on their channel with essentially the same premise!! My best find to-date is an Icebreaker Westerly MerinoLoft anorak jacket for $20 CAD… I found it online for the original price of $509.99 USD!!
Next time I'll definitely look more at the men's stuff. There's a lot less to choose from, so I think it will be a good challenge to find some items that Nick likes. I'm excited!
If you google Deseret Industries Thrift, you can see if there is a location near you. Probably going to find more hiking things in areas where outdoor sports are big like Utah, but those are great prices and I'm sure everything is priced reasonably.
I'm a big thrifter. I hit up the stores in the wealthier parts of town as often they donate things after only a few wears. I once found a newer version lightweight 20° Coleman down bag for 25 CENTS. 😂😂

This was a great video. I love your hiking ones, but one of these every once in a while is perfect!
Thrifting is the way to go. I loved this video and definitely want a round 2. I would also love to see shoes / sandals you like to hike in.
Round Two!!
You’ve definitely inspired me cause I am in need of some warmer base layers.
I really liked the video and thought it had good information. Quality was also top notch, I’ve watched for a year or two at least and it has only gotten better!
This is so cool! Two of my passions: thrifting and outdoors ❤
Yay! A new video! I've missed your content. That's an amazing deal 👍 Just out of curiosity, did you happened to noticed if the places you went to carried plus sized hiking clothing?

Absolutely! So glad you enjoyed this one and thank you for commenting!
Love this! I hadn't thought to look a the thrift store for hiking clothes.
Loved this ! Amazing finds ! Tell me why you don't wear cotton...and you didn't mention whether you like polyester or not. Also a fan of smartwool !
I’m a Thrifty not a Swifty…. 😂😂. Awesome. I’m so doing this. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️

Yay!! I love thrifting, too! You found some amazing items! 😍
* going to a thriftstore.
Hereby that is added to my to-do list for when I am ever going to America.😅
Those prices are just....😳....

This was one of the best videos!! I love finding hidden gems. Part 2 please and part 3
ROUND 2!
Love your channel! Would you do more on solo camping, please?
Apologies for being off topic but:
Do you "do" your brows yourself? They are great!

Round 2 please. Do we send you our sizes?

I wish we had even decent thrift stores around here. Not so much sadly ...
I love the idea of thrifting in theory, I just can't make it work for me. I never see good stuff like you found here! I am a huge fan of the thrift store. The majority of my outdoor apparel are thrift store finds.

What do you think about wearing linen while hiking in the summer ? Comments anyone? 😊
I can’t find stuff like this in South Carolina …😢and finding pants for 5ft…nope
Every year our local marathon has an expo before the race. The local Goodwill saves all the donated running clothes throughout the year which is also good for hiking to sell at the expo. They have clothes for all seasons and I find all kinds of awesome clothes and deals at the expo every year.
Overnight in a thrifted tent and sleep system.
Thank you!!
I have never though to look for hiking gear in thrift shops. Now I need to schedule a girls thrifting day with friends. I do look for really good flannel shirts when I go.
Have you found camp gear while thrifting?
Ps- thanks for speaking about your pant size, im also a 6 or 8 tall and have tops that range from small to large depending on brand or fit.
That was a really fun video! I also love thrift and that was super real!! Nice work!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for commenting!
Love thrifting. 80% of my wardrobe is thrifted
I got a 8 man tent for $8 in perfect shape. Found a 4 man tent later for $5.
Used to be that buying from thrift stores was a mark of shame. These days, it’s being smart.
Round 2. Fun video. You found some great things!
Round two: Hiking and Camping Gear 🙏
Great finds on the Kühl stuff. Aside from quality gear they have awesome customer service. They repaired the snap button on my pants, no questions asked. The whole procedure to 10 days start to finish. I’ll be a lifelong customer.
That's so great to hear! I really love their clothing. The vest and pants I found are some of my favorite items!
My niece does that but resells on eBay.
Love this video! I love thrifting. ❤
I definitely wouldn’t wear polyester
Definitely Round Two!
Round 2…camping gear
Love shopping at the DI!
Really enjoyable video, thanks! It's motivate me to go thriftshopping also. What about gear trift shopping ? :-)
I definitely want to keep looking for gear and clothing at the thrift stores! The cast iron pan I use all the time when camping is one that I found at an antique store. Thank you for watching!
Loved this! I’m a big thrifter for my clothes but never thought to look for hiking clothes. Thanks for the tip!

Great idea for a video. Round 2 would be good, maybe if there's hiking/camping gear in thrift stores?

Round two! Yes please! Great finds! I feel like I will not have that luck here in Ohio. Utah yes where there are so many people doing outside activities. But I still want give it a try. Love your videos!
Love all your items! Great video.
Thanks for watching!
A couple years ago, I found a beautiful Woolrich plaid wool hunting jacket at the Salvation Army for $7!
Love this video idea! Some of my favorite outdoor clothes are thrifted! Whatever I can wash on "hot" seems brand new to me 😊 can't beat $5 merino base layers!!
My best thrift find for hiking was an Icebreaker base layer shirt for 10.00. I also recently found my friend a down hiking jacket for 12.00!
Awesome content!
If you enjoyed making the video, make another. I'm not a thrifter, but I watched this one , a bit of variety is always good
I will definitely try thrifting next time.
I love thrifting too. I look for natural fabrics for general wear such as linen, wool etc...
Round 2 for any outdoor stuff! Gear, clothing, etc.
Thrifting makes a ton of sense if you have time and patience, Round two!
Great idea for a video and it's helping make the outdoors more accessible if people discover there are some great second-hand bargains out there.
Loved this! Round two, yes, please!!
YES !!!!!! Round TWO please and thank you
WTG!
Thrifting is amazing!
I agree! It's like a little treasure hunt!
ROUND 2!! Loved this so much! I buy all my outdoors gear (other than boots and socks) second hand and its the best!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this one!! I definitely want to do more videos like this. It was so much fun to make!
That's an incredible deal!! Way to go! I definitely want to make more videos like this. I had so much fun!
Awesome finds! That $ tally at the end was super satisfying 😆🥰 love thrifting and getting amazing deals! This was great!
It really is fun and very exciting when you find a good deal!! Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for commenting!
Round 2 - go shopping for Nick! I used to poke around thrift stores and you've inspired me to check them out again.
Next time I'll definitely look more at the men's stuff. There's a lot less to choose from, so I think it will be a good challenge to find some items that Nick likes. I'm excited!
Loved this. I found a smart wool base layer for $4.00 last year! Was so excited!
That's a great find!!
Never heard of Desert Industries! Which state/ city are they in? Im in Tucson.
If you google Deseret Industries Thrift, you can see if there is a location near you. Probably going to find more hiking things in areas where outdoor sports are big like Utah, but those are great prices and I'm sure everything is priced reasonably.
Great content 👍🏻 please do a round two 😊
Damn! What state are you in?
I live in Utah but the hiking clips are from Arizona!
@@amanda.outside the thrifting is nice in Utah! Going to try to replicate from here in GA
I'm starting my hunt for clothing to enjoy the outdoors in colder and wet weather. This gave me a lot of good insights. Great video!😊
Enjoy!! I hope you find some great items. Thank you for commenting!
