I love that Antwan is willing (and able) to shampoo/condition and prep his daughters’ hair for their braids. I love my Dad but he never went near my hair growing up. However, he did find a really good braiding shop in Harlem NYC. He or my Mom would drive me there. Thank God for parents who sacrifice for their children.

I like it. It seems like a cultural thing for me. Saturday was wash and braid or hot comb day. For church on Sunday and the full week of school.

It doesn’t matter if they have a big house or a small house. The family chose to shampoo their hair where it is convenient to them. Growing up, it was a family tradition/ thing for all of the female relatives to gather in the kitchen to get their hair done every two weeks. The kitchen is sanitized afterwards but it was just the way it was!
That’s what works best for them and shouldn’t matter to you.
I’m sure they sanitize the kitchen down before cooking after Shampoo Day.
Culture is everything. In my culture, you wouldn't dare wash your hair in the kitchen. That's done in the shower or wash room. It's a matter of culture. I too find it extremely weird that people wash hair in the kitchen.
