1) Ramonda’s death actually has a point beyond giving Shuri a reason to kill Namor. After T’Challa’s death, Ramonda encourages Shuri to continue researching how to create the heart shaped herb so that there can be another Black Panther. But Shuri dismisses the idea, arguing that the Black Panther is a relic of the past. And what happens? Wakanda is attacked and her mother is killed. What if Shuri had listened to her mother and developed the heart shaped herb? There might’ve been a Black Panther to protect Wakanda and fight off Namor, in which case her mother would’ve lived. That’s why Shuri hoped to see her mother in the ancestral plain. To seek forgiveness. But instead, she sees Killmonger. He isn’t there just to serve as a mirror of what she could become. He’s there to represent what she’s feeling in that moment, which is rage. But it’s mainly rage at herself. She’s angry at herself for not being able to save her brother. She’s angry for not listening to her mother who turned out to be right. 2) The inclusion of Ironheart is clearly a setup for her TV show. But she still serves an important function in Shuri’s character arc. In the first movie, Shuri is the kid sister while T’Challa is the wiser older sibling. In this movie, Riri is the kid sister while Shuri is the wiser older sibling. By having her act more like T’Challa, the movie is laying the groundwork for her to take on T’Challa’s other role, that of the Black Panther.
100% agree with point 1, but I disagree with point 2, because based on Riri Williams inclusion it didn’t suggest that was her intent because their relationship wasn’t really thawn out, I still think Riri Williams distracted from some of the movie instead of raised its level.
@@huesoftheheart139 Riri's involvement with the invention to find vibranium was important to the plot and upped the conflict point, but then they just didn't do much with her character. She clearly has a life and personality, but she wasn't a dynamic character to the film itself.
@@amorfatikhb Riri was certainly better than the Flash (I felt he was annoying) and Aquaman (thankfully his movie salvaged him) in the theatrical cut of Justice League and the members of the Justice Society in Black Adam who just existed to get into fights with the title character. This might be a hot topic, but I do feel she had a better first outing than Hawkeye did in Phase 1 since he didn't get that fleshed out until Phase 2. But she didn't make as good a first impression as Spider-Man and Black Panther himself did in Civil War. She was at least fun, and I am willing to give her show a chance, but she didn't quite have enough room to shine.
Tchalla was dead for 5 years after Infinity War so that would have been perfect to honor Chadwick then and have a post credit scene when Tchalla gets blipped back then he’s off to endgame. They honored Chadwick but Tchalla is still alive and they can recast him through the multiverse
I kinda felt Ramonda had to die for Shuri to break and embrace her rage. I felt like up to that point, she was angry but holding it in check. So that finally tipped her over
Just gonna make two brief counterpoints: 1) Ramonda could've been placed into a coma or on life-support and Shuri could've still embraced her rage 2) Shuri still didn't embrace her rage after Ramonda died.
@@famousthaneus9810 I can agree with your first point but as to your second, she did. It was like she was blinded by it (for example when Griot told her the ship could explode any minute, she was more concerned with hurting Namor than seeing that setting off her explosives inside the ship was not a good idea). When she spoke with M’Baku about her heart, she told him she just buried it with the last person who really knew her. And when he later spoke with her as the Black Panther, she yelled at him about her mother’s hopes and dreams being gone, how Namor killed her mother right in front of her, and for him to stop talking as if she were still alive. He was the voice of reason, him and Nakia, but she wasn’t hearing it. I feel like had Ramonda not died, I’m not sure who would’ve visited Shuri in the ancestral plane. The fact that Killmonger did just solidifies how full of rage she was, including the fire lighting up the throne room as she spoke to him. Even her theme music was dark.
@@Veryy_Victoriaa I figured you'd raise those examples, but that's all just her being angry. Her embracing her anger would've been killing Namor, or at the very least beating him to within an inch of his life (she only weakened him). If she'd embraced her rage, it would've taken more than just a spirit vision of Ramonda to get her to spare Namor's life, it would've also taken someone like Nakia being there to physically try to get her to come to her senses. As it stands, she was just angry, through the whole movie she was angry, and Ramonda's death did nothing to enhance that. Completely unnecessary death
@@famousthaneus9810 what remains is what M’Baku said was true; Namor was a god to his people. Killing him would mean the fight would never stop. It took a spear to the gut and the vision of her mother to finally make *her* stop. I’m glad Namor didn’t die. He had some wild ideas but he’s one of the best antagonists the MCU has had along with Thanos, Killmonger, and the early version of Loki before the writers made him more likable since he was a fan fave. The god killer in Thor Love and Thunder could have been another one but his arc was poorly written. Anyway Shuri buried her whole family. I still believe something in her finally snapped after her mother. Her Panther suit was even like Killmonger’s, which should make it clearer without words how vengeful she’s become. It was the whole reason she chose to try the herb, not because she truly believed the spiritual aspect of it (as shown by the water earlier in the film).
@@Veryy_Victoriaa Exactly. In addition, she didn't care about having eternal war with Talocan. To Shuri, it didn't matter how many of her people, or anyone's people, died as long as *she* killed Namor. M'Baku said that going to war would be worth it, but questions Shuri if Ramonda would have wanted eternal war. Shuri clearly deflected the question by stating M'Baku could not know what someone who was not his mother could have wanted. It's why I wasn't rooting for her in the final battle. Perhaps @Tamous Thaneus has a definition of rage we are not realizing.
Honestly Shuri having Queen Ramonda die really parallels T'Challa having King T'Chaka die, with both events causing them to go on a quest for vengeance, leading to then coming to peace with both killers. It was perfect.
Tchalla was dead for 5 years after Infinity War so that would have been perfect to honor Chadwick then and have a post credit scene when Tchalla gets blipped back then he’s off to endgame. They honored Chadwick but Tchalla is still alive and they can recast him through the multiverse
@@tmac731I don’t think it was a good comparison though. T’challa had the entire movie to go through his revenge arc but the death of the Queen happened 2/3 in of the movie, it was a complete switch of the already lack luster plot of Shuri’s grief and Nahmor’s overly simplistic and lazy desire for him to conquer the surface world.
Still gets a W because of the lack of amount of humor in it which is good to see someone actually make an MCU movie again where the humor doesn’t feel forced and comes natural if anything
Honestly I agree I love humor but DSMOM and She Hulk, I am f-ing disappointed and I like Love and thunder says a lot. Batman, This movie and Black Adam don't force humor and I love it.
The only section that had forced humor was when Okoye and Shuri first go to get Riri but there it's thematically appropriate because the stakes are lower. When they move from the college to the garage the humor becomes more sparse again.
I didn't mind their risky moves & themes but if they had cut out the American government scenes & RiRi for more focus on M'baku & Nakia and Black Panther action it would be a much better movie to me, overall i dont feel as divisive about it as most, it was fine.
I agree that Riri was mostly just in this just to set up her Disney+ show, and that Ross’ subplot was completely pointless, but it didn’t cut too much into the screen time or take away from the overall plot. The obligatory setup for future projects didn’t distract me too much and I actually am looking forward to learning more about Ironheart in the MCU. I’m thankful that they didn’t do anything like the Illuminati in Multiverse of Madness which I felt was the studio at the last minute forcing them to cut out the 2nd act and replace them with a showcase of characters they now have the rights to. But that’s just my opinion.
@@FilmSpeak I have to disagree. The American govt sub plot adds real world politics into the film. This is one of the few films that depicts a realistic CIA and the realistic treatment of whistleblowers aka traitors when you're caught by them
@@goldsilvervscrisiscollapse4320 I feel like this movie should've just focused on Namor wanting to attack the US govt in general, because of the Vibranium thing, instead of shoehorning Riri in the plot. The writers could've written a more effective back and forth between the tension among Talokans and Wakandans and the U.S govt trying to get to the bottom of things. Maybe Ross would've been that guy who's trying to prevent shit from happening on the U.S side.
For me, Wakanda Forever is the 5th best MCU movie because there is a level of care and genuine emotion that is not in most Marvel productions. It feels like the cast and crew we’re passionate about making one final send-off to the T’Challa character and not Disney mandating the show to go on. But while I do believe Wakanda Forever is the 5th best MCU movie, I get the feeling that if Chadwick Boseman would have been in this movie as T’Challa, this probably would have been the best MCU movie ever made.
For me its #1. I expected to hate Shuri as Black Panther… but Coogler made that shit work. Damn near every complaint I’ve heard about this movie was bogus
Namor is one of my new favorite movie adapted comic book characters, period. Right behind Heath’s version of Joker. Loved the origin story, and that dude is about to be a huge part of the overall MCU arch moving forward. You’ll see.
I'm still in awe of what this movie managed to accomplish. It is a genuinely moving and entertaining film that explores grief, vengeance and family that manages to overcome the curse of losing it's main actor. One of the best MCU films to date, I loved it.
This movie is called Black Panther Wakanda Forever and thus is not just about the Black Panther but Wakanda as a whole. I have only watched this film once but I throughly enjoyed it. It's emotional, therapeutic, well-acted, well-paced and visually stunning. I really like the characters especially the new villain Nemar, the story/ plot and the cinematography. I love how long this movie is to fully flush out things and characters. It's certainly not perfect but it doesn't feel rushed and instead feels like a labor of love. It gets a 7.5 out of 10 for me. I will watch this movie again after Thanksgiving for my birthday. This was a good breakdown.
You mean Wakanda by the Sea? In every other movie, Wakanda had minimal water- lakes, streams, waterfalls. All of a sudden it’s Wakanda by the Sea and there is water everywhere because the plot needs it for Namor to be involved. And btw, how did Namor get through the invisible protective barrier? If Namor was able to destroy Wakanda and kill their Queen, why does he need Wakandans to join him? Seems kind of pointless. This movie makes no sense. What a mess.
@@jjones9822 if you watched the movie you'd know What Namor was wearing was made of vibranium and even Shuri found out vibranium not only landed in Wakanda but other parts of the world why do you think the government sent people under the sea to look for it which caused Namor and his people to attack
@@jjones9822 did you really say why does he need them to join them if he could just kill them he didn't even want to he did it because he came peacefully to ask that they help keep the government away and live peacefully and once he was denied and it was believed they killed one of his people that's when he killed Queen Ramonda
There is nothing so deep about this movie that it's hard to understand. It's themes/messages are laid bare before you; it just doesn't work for everybody. The movie, like the person above me said, is just all over the place.
I don't normally leave comments on video's but You gave this all the empathy and respect it deserves and took the time to truly look at the film not just as another marvel movie, but as a real stand alone movie. you took notice to the themes and character's in a way I think a lot of other reviewers missed out on. You just get it and my hat goes off to you. I almost gave up hope on someone giving this a proper review. And, in time hopefully other people will have a better understanding. But I truly appreciate what you've said here
Crazy how people are mixed this is one of the most mature mcu movie made. It reminded me of the grounded X-men first class. I loved how it just focused on the characters. Yes I could have gone without the Ross story everything worked. I hope they don’t look at the box office and become afraid of making more grounded and mature storytelling.
@@VashXTrigun They were literally about to take out Shuri, though. One had her hand pulled back to throw a spear, and the other had a knife to Shuri's throat. No choice.
First of all, as a survivor of childhood brain cancer since weeks before my tenth birthday in September 2013, I can only imagine how much had to be revised on short notice. Managing to integrate both Boseman's death and the emotions that naturally follow into Wakanda Forever's plot was a pleasant surprise. Coogler chose to stick to his formula from the first Black Panther movie, despite the Mouse and everything else, and made it work beautifully. And even that "need a glass of water?" line is perfect.
I had saw people talking bad about the movie and how messy it was before I saw it. But I really didn't think it was that bad. The end where she sees T'Challa had me in tears and the little boy... omg that little boy and his big smile and dimples, looking like a mini Chadwick.. omg my heart. I wish it really was his son. But very nice video, as per usual
I saw this in theaters and withheld judgement until seeing on TV at home. Then, I watched it again. Then again. And to make sure I was being fair, I watched it again. There's no easy way to say it but to all the people who found something wrong with the story line, go watch it again because you probably missed something that made what you misunderstood make sense. I found that damn near 98% of every plot point was on target with moving the story forward, and the use of callbacks to further this story also worked. This movie honestly was probably the best story told in the MCU yet and what I mean was there wasn't very many if any, scenes that did not fit perfectly into the overarching story. Even the foreshadows into future characters and stories was thorough and rounded out. In my opinion, the story on screen was perfectly told and delivered in perfect time through the main characters and while a few of the secondary characters left a bit too much off the table, it was done deliberately in order to prepare the their own IPs being given the greenlight. The forthcoming Wakanda Dis+ should pick up with the sub plots that people wined about not fitting or making sense. Damn it people just give the cast and crew their roses because this film stood up when everyone had doubt in some way. We dont need connections from Riri to Tony yet, her story is just being introduced. Nothing has taken place to warrant the criticism this guy makes just for the simple fact it is the first time we are introduced to her. The comic books somehow make people feel like they are know whats to come and its not true. This is the MCU and they have made huge changes to storylines to fit the screen...INFINITY WAR!!! Not one Xmen character or better yet, not one other superhero outside of the MCU who actually fought in the comics was in the film and for those who dont know or remember, it was damn near every Marvel Comic superhero on Earth fighting Thanos in the comics. The movie had 19 or 20 superheros featured. Relax and stop hating and begin appreciating. Man I'm drunk and high as fuck lol and if you read this bullshit to this point, I want some of what you been smoking because it must be some dank.
Riri and Tony don't need some super deep connection for that bit of her inclusion to work imo. Both are geniuses, both went to MIT, both clearly have family struggles and have some unfinished baggage with their fathers albeit Starks is more so feeling unloved whilst Riri's is missing the man that put her on this path of engineering. Both see the harm their actions have caused from their genius be it intentional or otherwise unintentional. Riri dawning an iron suit does feel compressed but she also didnt have to make a mk. 2 suit in a cave with a box of scraps. We already saw her mk.1 in her garage that's reminiscent of that. Coming to Wakanda to make the mk.2 suit legit sped up the process since their tech is centuries ahead of the rest of the world's so by the time we get her in suit we get a vision of what she can be now that she's fought for a cause greater than herself, doing right by people that have treated her compassionately and saved her life. My one issue is the tonal disconnect of her just happily killing Talochans in the final battle, but aside from that gripe her inclusion was very natural and enjoyable and I'm actually looking forward to what her show will cover after this crucible. Only inclusions in this movie I genuinely don't like in this film is Valentina, she serves no point and there's hardly any Thundebolts setup so her inclusion just feels like mandated bs. One token white character was enough in Ross since he has a stake in the plot somewhat.
13:51 - okay I haven't seen the movie in a while, so I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the movie made it clear that the world leaders actually did recognize wakanda's grief, but saw that instability as the perfect timing to invade.
Ye I completely agree, a lot of this film seemed like it was underdeveloped because it had to compensate for the lack of T’Challa. And even though Riri was very much unnecessary for this film(and literally isn’t necessary for the main conflict and drive of Namor’s fury in the end) I love how they didn’t pull an America Chavez and ruin a powerful movie by having an uninteresting and annoying character steal the films major conflict from the title character without justification or foresight. Also Namor stole the show for me, he was awesome and probably the most entertaining part of it, even with the emotional powerhousing of Shuri’s emotional evolution. Also love how they didn’t force feed representation to us with the first major(and watchable) Hispanic Superhuman in the MCU, it was creative, unique, moving, and organic and genuinely made me conflicted as to who I was rooting for till the invasion of wakanda.
Wakanda Forever is such an outstanding movie. Definitely well within my top 10 MCU movies. There is so much depth to it that so many people miss. Shuri's arc of science vs spirituality through her grief is just so expertly done. Namor was great and Angela Bassett and Letitia Wright were amazing. There is nothing messy about the movie at all
Tchalla was dead for 5 years after Infinity War so that would have been perfect to honor Chadwick then and have a post credit scene when Tchalla gets blipped back then he’s off to endgame. They honored Chadwick but Tchalla is still alive and they can recast him through the multiverse
Genuinely the best phase 4 has been for me (I love No Way Home and Spider-Man is my favorite superhero, but there are narrative issues that keep it from the top spot imo). This one has issues as well for sure, but Letitia Wright delivers a fantastic performance along with the legendary Angela Bassett. The film connects for me in a big way that I simply did not think it could because of the overall quality of phase 4 since NWH and the Herculean task of writing past the death of Chadwick. This gives me hope that Marvel will soon pull the reigns back a little and allow their directors and writers to focus on telling good stories about complex characters and delivering their messages with NUANCE. Something I personally feel the MCU has been missing heavily, especially in the last 2 years.
Agreed! Queen Ramonda's death was overkill!! Being in a coma could've been a more palatable motivator for Shuri. The movie is so heavily drenched in grief already. I groaned in frustration SMH
Tchalla was dead for 5 years after Infinity War so that would have been perfect time to honor Chadwick then and have a post credit scene when Tchalla gets blipped back then he’s off to endgame. They honored Chadwick but Tchalla is still alive and they can recast him through the multiverse
I actually like Wakanda Forever better than the first one ngl. While Chadwick’s absence is a detriment over this movie, I genuinely enjoy this movie better than the first one. I believe Wakanda Forever has better action, cgi, score/music, better timed jokes, and an overall better tone. Shuri’s character was also vastly improved in this movie. I found her kinda obnoxious in the first movie, but with this movie, They managed to make a better female led Marvel movie with this than Captain Marvel and Black Widow
@@coopercraven1370 No, it didn't, actually. They literally said that Far From Home marks the end of Phase Three. Please do research before trying to correct people.
My biggest problems were namors goals and riri. You could take riri out, rewrite one scene and the movie would be the same. Did not care about her character and her weird Gundam suit at all. For namor, I think they were so close to having great motivations for him. After his first encounter with shuri and Ramonda, his plot doesn't really make sense. He captures riri and shuri and has a chance to kill riri and just doesn't because.....the plot needs him not to. And then he ambushes wakanda on their own turf and completely has the upper hand. Kills Ramonda and his hovering mere feet from riri while the entire city is in disarray and could've once again killed her but instead says he'll be back in a week because? The plot needs him to. I think the motivation of him wanting wakanda to join him to take on the world is a way more interesting plot line but they don't set up with that. Instead they set up with the riri stuff but then kind of switch halfway but not really. It was just very messy and nonsensical.
@@jaaz_fr4318 I think what they meant was RiRi as Ironheart was unnecessary. She could've been any rando scientist who was just a scientist and nothing more
@@emilabbey11 what are you referring to? I'm saying it doesn't make sense that he snuck attack wakanda and then had a chance after that sneak attack to kill riri, his main goal, and instead said I'll be back in a week.
My thought about this film is that its well written and action packed, but SOME PEOPLE did not want that from this movie. I enjoyed all 3 hours but in the back of my mind i knew when the credits rolled i knew that people would see this movie as another black panther movie instead of a villian origin story with Shuri
I too didn't agree with the creative decision to kill Queen Ramonda, nonetheless my overall experience remained unharmed. Although, what bugged me a bit (as did u) were the uninteresting IRON MAN callbacks thru IRON HEART, without establishing a clear link of inspiration. Also, the film felt a bit long towards the climax. But, this movie really ended the 4th Phase on a high. 🤩🤩
when i heard the story to this movie, I couldn't help but wonder what could've been if dr victor van doom wanted the vibranium (sorry for the misspeling), and wanted wakanda and namor to go to war with each other. the two align to stop doom's plan, at least introducing him for phases 5 and 6. So the queen isn't killed because doom's plan was revealed instead.. and namor and the new black panther form an alliance to face a new enemy. And I perferred shuri seeing the young father t'chaka (sorry for the misspelling) when she became the new black panther.
Loved it. So much better and more beautiful than what Marvel normally gives. Namor was awesome. Anywhere from an 8-9 for me. My grievances are more cultural than technical. Top tier movie.
This movie just gives me chills. The loss of Chadwick Boseman was such a tragedy. It was treated very well in this movie, and while he died off screen, it still gave some form of necessary catharsis for me when I watched it. There is a finality in it, which is comforting, because we know that they're not going to just replace Chadwick with another actor and brush off the fact that he was THE Black Panther. Rather, they paid tribute to him and his work, and then helped the audience move on, knowing that the Black Panther isn't just one character necessarily but rather a mantle that another can pick up without rendering the previous Black Panther less than. The emotional bits and the more poignant parts were very well done. I didn't care so much about the action/superhero parts but like you said, it IS an MCU film, which would have all these elements that would distract from the emotional parts. For an MCU film, it was okay, but as a film that deal with grief, it was wonderful!
HUGELY missed opportunities for a story unique to Shuri in this one. What we got wasn't awful, in fact it was good and Letitia crushed it. In the comics T'Challa and Shuri aren't that different from one another anyways until Shuri comes back from the dead. A transformation from the comics I think they missed the opportunity to loosely adapt. Instead of a story where Shuri overcomes revenge I would have had a story where Shuri's grief and prolonged mourning over her brother results in heightened insecurities and doubt over her place in Wakanda as a clear non-traditionalist. Over the course of the movie she'd have to deal with the pressures of dealing with the blip fallout (largely Ramonda's role but with Shuri trying and failing to help) and the pressure people are putting on her to create a synthetic herb garden... which she struggles to figure out and questions her skills following her failure to save T'Challa. It would be a story about mourning and restoring faith after grappling with faithlessness. The people of Wakanda would play a larger role (doubting their rulers like in the comics), Namor and Talokan would play a slightly smaller one (but not too small).. and I would have introduced the character of Bast instead of Riri Williams. Marvel already cast her actress and apparently she was in Thor Love & Thunder. She would act as a spiritual guide for Shuri after first appearing disguised as an average patient in the hospital where Shuri is studying the disease that killed T'Challa... then towards the end of the 2nd act she reveals herself as Bast. She would point Shuri to a place she can find the underwater plant to synthesise the herb and after this disappear completely leaving Shuri to wonder if she was real or just a mental construct since Shuri is very clearly agnostic. Namor still wants the same thing and would have earlier raided Wakanda and injured Ramonda severely after she risked her life to safe some trapped citizens. Shuri ends the movie by setting a trap for Namor, challenging his authority in front of his people and then beating him up forcing a truce as the new Black Panther. Movie ends the same way or with another UN scene attended by Ross and Val.
@@emilabbey11 Absolutely. It's a confusing choice to leave her out. Any appearance she could make after this will open up a pandora's box of plot holes. Maybe if it turned out she was killed by Gorr that could explain it but supposedly she appeared in Zeus's city where the gods were safe.
@@thembanitheone It was an easy movie to understand. All the nations want Vibranium, Riri created a Vibranium sensor, Namor wants her dead so Talokan cannot be found. Shuri doesn't want to kill a child. They fight, form an alliance for when the world eventually tries to take Vibranium from either of them. And the only big "plot twist" is at the end when we learn about the child. What made this film hard to follow for you?
I’m glad there’s finally a video that talk about how this movie is fundamentally about grief which is presented through Shuri’s character marvelously. Are there other issues, yes, but that was done very well and propels the movie to be solid in and of itself. 💯
I loved this film, kinda not a fan of the overall theater going experience/watching it in the theater bc it felt like going to a funeral but THAT was why I went so whatever. But the one thing I disagreed with in your video is a minute detail, but still one i think deserves mention. In regards to your statement of RiRi Williams having no tie to Tony Stark, I have a "theory" that might explain why I disagreed with that sentiment. So in "Civil War" Tony is introduced giving a presentation to MIT students, and announcing a grant program for their work and ongoing studies (The September Foundation, I believe it was called.) Then we see RiRi attending MIT and working on an Iron Man esque suit. Watching that scene, I inferred that maybe the grant program was ongoing beyond that one time we heard about it, and all the imagery between the two is meant to show that he inspired a new generation of thinkers and heroes as well as just tying back into the comics where she found an old suit and repaired it for her own use. Hope that helps anyone who is also bewildered by that imagery parallel.
I never felt they were trying to evoke Tony Stark for Ironheart, especially with how she pushed the comparisons aside, but I guess its unavoidable with the nature of the character. And I thought the subplot was fun although I'll concede it's the one-part cuts could've helped with. This was a tough movie but a great one. I really liked Phase Four a lot more than most people but this was definitely ending on a high point.
This movie is deeper than just these words spoken by the narrator...in the fact that it is mirroring the actual lifes' history of the "Underground People" that many have spoken about and how the "nations" of the world have gone out of their ways to take from a "People" that are and than they that took and destroyed when they had their chance to conquer. The story is not finished.......it is just beginning. Make the connections to what is actually happening inthe world...at current.
If they were going to kill off Queen Romanda in this version of the script I think they should've had T'Challa end up in a comma and be placed in isolation so Shuri can make a copy of the heart shaped herb from his DNA earlier in the film leading to Romanda taking over as the next Black Panther. Romanda ends up dying in combat against Namor which leads to Shuri being next in line as the Black Panther and once everything is settled T'Challa is said to have awaken from his coma but not shown.
They needed 2 hrs to tell that only thing vibranium isn't able to do is save a life. " They were trying to built unified world, sharing the resources to the one needed and helping them" by openly saying they won't be sharing their resource.
they won't be sharing vibranium because they know that other countries would use it wrong, but the point was they would be sharing their wealth to try and help people
@@mikemorro140 So now they r a fortune teller aswell. Now it's clear wakanda isn't the only one with vibranium and the better part they haven't used it wrongly. So what made u come to that conclusion?
Also I think Letitia wright did a good job and I really do like shuri but I don't think she's a great black panther. She still just feels like a good side character. I really wish they would've either recast tchalla or wrote nakia as the new black panther. Nakia is a good character that they keep shafting with the scripts. I don't get. Lupita is probably the best actress currently in the MCU and the just refuse to give her anything to do in these movies lol
We need to revise the use of the word "mess" to describe movies. It's so overused that now it just used for "it's not what I wanted, or not too simple, so I'll call it 'mess'". There's only two movies in the whole world that can be described like this, for God's sake. Let's rethink how we use this word on critics.
@@FilmSpeak Yeah, I know, I'm just commenting on how this word is being used too many times on movie critics 😅🤗. Haha'. And, for real, I think is preferable a full movie that makes audiences take time to process everything that happen than one of those that ended up being boring for not having nothing else beyond the main plot to tell 🤔😅.
I did not see the story showing Talokan utilizing divide and conquer on the US and Wakanda at all. Yes, there’s this subplot of the US assuming the Wakandas are responsible for the Talokan attack (an interesting point that does feel underdeveloped), but I don’t feel this is done to empahasize Talokan forcing the Wakandans to choose between an alliance with one or the other as the central conflict. In actuality, I see this showing the US’s imperialist nature leading them on an all too familiar journey of searching for resources in foreign lands to exploit for their benefit. In doing so, not only are they exploiting Wakanda’s generosity and humanity of wanting to find ways to share their resources with the world, they are threatening to force Talokan to be forced into that exact same predicament. Civilizations thriving after/never being touched by colonization now more than ever feel the pressure of an imperialist threat. Therefore, the US/imperial countries’ eager search for Vibranium pits the two strongest nations against each other, aka dividing and conquering them, with the imperialists actually being the shared enemy the two powerful nations should be uniting against. The cliffhanger that looms by the battle’s end since the two nations do seem to have some sort of lasting agreement as the threat of exploitation is still at large.
The movie was a good tribute to Chadwick Boseman. Aside from that, the movie felt like it didn't really know what it wanted or which way it wanted to go. Also, there was no proper introduction to Iron Heart IMO.
As a huge fan of Coogler’s Fruitvale Station, I’m a bit ashamed that I never made the connection that with Chadwick’s passing, there would NEVER be a better director than Coogler himself to make the sequel to Black Panther! No such thing as a perfect movie, so with its flaws and all Wakanda Forever is yet another iconic film portraying not just African culture but the culture of humanity itself!
Tchalla was dead for 5 years after Infinity War so that would have been perfect to honor Chadwick then and have a post credit scene when Tchalla gets blipped back then he’s off to endgame. They honored Chadwick but Tchalla is still alive and they can recast him through the multiverse
Rip Chadwick Boseman but he wasn’t T’challa.. gotta seperate the actor from the character they shouldn’t have made the movie for chadwick they should’ve made it for T’challa…. Loved it tho😊
I adore Wakanda Forever but even I’m not putting it in my most favorite movies. That being said, the movie felt genuine so I can’t find it in me to hate it. Plus Shuri is badass. Seriously I’ve been begging for Marvel to present a female character with an actual character arc and flaws.
I thought Riri was completely unnecessary in this film. In fact if her character was a villain instead it would have made a lot more sense for both factions to have an alliance in the end of the film.
I listen to your videos on my earphones while I do pretty much anything that I can’t think of right now because I’m mad tired but the SpongeBob bit got me laughing so hard and I love unexpected comedy. So I’m starting to love your channel more I do still consider myself a new fan
As someone who is not a fan of Marvel movies in general and finds the first Black Panther massively overrated I surprisingly liked this movie compared to everything else.

An American teenage/college scientist could’ve been anyone, so if they wanted to do a future iron man potentially, they could’ve used a whole different number of characters, like maybe his daughter, or the kid from iron man 3, or give this girl some more background like he suggested in the video
This was an extremely emotional film. I thought it was well done but it had problems the most outstanding being the loss of Queen Ramonda. It was hurtful and unnecessary. Shuri could have become the new Black Panther with her mother still being alive. I can overlook Ross’, Val’s and Riri Williams’ plot lines but Queen Ramonda’s death should never have been part of the storyline. Thank you for this video.
@@sopek1427 People do die in wars but Queen Ramonda didn’t have to be one of the casualties. That was a choice that I don’t agree with. It won’t change what is now canon but I’m definitely going to miss having Queen Ramonda’s beauty, elegance, intellect and power in the MCU.
I think they did it to make the cameo a surprise. Shuri goes to the ancestral plane, the people she would most likely see is her brother (can’t do that), her father(who she wasn’t really close with) or killmonger. It would’ve been obvious who she’d see if her mom didn’t die. Plus that drove her revenge arc. She wouldn’t have wanted revenge if Namur didn’t take something precious from her.
@@alishak9178 I have to respectfully disagree. Shuri was already angered over the death of her brother who, despite her incredible intellect, she couldn’t save. Wakanda was under attack, her people suffering and dying. Shuri had the motive as it was a betrayal by Namor. That her mother’s life was endangered would have been enough to enrage Shuri even further, imo. But it didn’t play out that way unfortunately so we’ll see how Shuri , the rest of the Wakanda people and the world deal with the new Black Panther. Thank you for your reply.
@@elizabethshannon5477 good point. Maybe she could’ve been gravely hurt instead of killed. That could’ve been enough to enrage Shuri to want revenge. I guess I was talking more about who would visit her in the ancestral plane. This was so people would assume her mother was gonna be there maybe? Idk I guess neither of us knows what Ryan had in his mind. Just speculation.
Riri Williams in Wakanda Forever is the exact same as Peter Parker in Civil War. Both introduced in the same contrived way and not one person complained about Peter Parker in Civil War.
Yeah but RiRi Williams is trash. Literally a trash comic book that was very poor selling but they’re going to use it in a movie simply for diversity. Just because there’s a comic book doesn’t mean you need to use it in a film. She sucks. She needs to go away forever.
Nah mate, they tried too hard to make Riri related to Iron Man and sell her show, while she is kinda good... It feels forced. Also, Spider Man is beloved by all, and back them people had no hope seeing Spider Man in the MCU (because Sony). I get your point, but they are too different to even being compared.
@@flaviomonteiro1414 How? They didn't even mention Iron Man in this film. There was like one scene that was an homage to Iron Man movies but thats about it.
If they didn't kill T'chala and make it a big deal, This movie is perfect for me. I am not saying this is a mess but this and Black Adam are greater than Phase 4 movies. Look at Paul Walker Fast and the Furious. They gave Paul an emotional ride without killing him.
I love it and I'm sure other marvel movies dont get this much hate ....but we all know why what it looks like box office love it and btw it not an avengers movies and 800millon good for movel but hey
I hated the first movie... Specially because they dialed back T'challa he was such a badass and stoic person in Civil War, but in Black Panther he was reduced to jokes and the plot of "king being dethroned by relative" is bad. They could have done so much more with that movie and concept... However, I do recognize the importance of it. With 2 I was expecting to see more of the same but one can't watch it without being emotional and love some parts specially the cast, even though it doesn't work for me... I think is more akin to the way Disney wants thing to be, rather a bad vision from the director (as love n thunder).
Tf, y'all are literally being too critical about this are y'all just racist. Cause a lot of the "reason" it's bad are completely subjective. Stop riding hype waves. You don't have to pretend every marvel movie is bad for clout
Ok the thing I don't get is if we think logically, in Avengers 4 there's time travel and I doubt the other Avengers had the machine destroyed. Why couldn't the Wakandans just go back in time and get a stash of herbs before Kilmonger destroyed them? I mean all they have to do is just grab a ton of them and it would save them a lot of trouble. Plus even then before the events of the first Black Panther, why couldn't they just make a Black Panther army with a select individuals, so that way if someone can't be Black Panther anymore like T'challa or Shuri if she needs a vacation can take over? Then in that way, they have someone to take over when the next villain comes to Wakanda and if Shuri is taking a break or dealing with something more Avengers level. Wouldn't that just make things easier?
Ima just be bold and say it, even tho it had its flaws (the flaws I find to be very minor) I think Wakanda forever was the MCU’s best non avengers based movie yet.
Yup. The good old " heroes" of Wakanda who, when the world was faced with so manner horrors , and trials and tribulations DID NOTHING UNTIL. The horror was at their very door. Until then they ignored just about 100% of the evil going on around them, displaying a " Not my circus, not my monkey" mindset. Is that's what we call a hero these days? How are these people heroes??? From what we are told they ignored slavery. They ignored invasions. They ignored world wars. They ignored alien invasions. They ignored pretty much every bad thing happening in the rest of the world, until Thanos. Until the problem was dropped on their own doorstep.
People act like we didn't have black representation in superhero movies when in fact we had Blade I & II. III doesn't exist for obvious reasons lol. I thought Black Panther was okay but I was glad black people were supporting it. Wakanda Forever though is way better than the first movie. I feel they should've recast T'Challa/Black Panther though. I like Chadwick Boseman but I'm sure he would've preferred it be recast himself instead of them being hampered by his death. Here's my problem with changing Namor's home from Atlantis to what it is in the movie. You're signaling the DC universe exist by doing it. F them let them worry about that because Namor was first.
In the movie, Namor pronounced his own name na-'mor, while outsiders tended to pronounce it 'ney-mor. I think the director probably did that intentionally so that longtime fans wouldn't feel bad about pronouncing it either way (since the character has existed in print for over 80 years now without a clear reference for pronunciation until this film).
It was beautifully shot but only good at best. Ramonda, Ross, namor, and umbaku were really good. Riri was unnecessary and forced. Nakia was misused. Shuri was too op. Okoye was overused. Ramonda should have survived but given up rule to the best candidate in umbaku. Shuri should have found the herb but then given it to the royal challengers umbaku, nakia, herself AND Ramonda and they'd have all been black panthers and able to overpower the super strong talokanians.
That sounds like too much of a fantasy and don't think nakia would have taken it due to her character plus only Shuri would have become the Black Panther, M'Baku would be Man Ape and Nakia probably have Crocodile abilities
America Chavez wasn't a MacGuffin. She and her abilities were directly plot relevant. You couldn't have slotted another Marvel character in for her. You couldn't have replaced her with the Maltese Falcon. Riri, on the other hand, could have been almost any genius because being Iron Heart wasn't relevant to the plot. She could have been Lunella Lafayette or even some unnamed genius. She was functionally a MacGuffin.
MacGuffins can also be directly plot relevant, hell they often are. Chavez was a MacGuffin, and the Book of Vishanti was a MacGuffin. Both directly plot related. Edit: A MacGuffin means "an object or device in a movie or a book that serves merely as a trigger for the plot," so yea, directly plot related
@@famousthaneus9810 "Merely" being the operative word. America Chavez wasn't *merely* a trigger for the plot. She was an active participant (which is what I was thinking when I said "directly relevant" but admittedly that's unclear). The Book of Vishanti was absolutely a MacGuffin (and I'd argue not actually plot relevant as it never actually mattered what it did exactly), but America was not.
I never felt like namor purposefully set the rest of the world against wakanda. It was more of a happy by product of their defensive isolationist policy.

They should've recasted T'Challa.
@@SpammytheHedgehog Yeah, agreed.
I liked it more than the first movie Namor is more interesting and 3 dimensional than killmonger
It was 🗑️
IT’S TALOKANS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ADD AN *S* CJ
No killing the queen was a terrible idea
Tchalla was dead for 5 years after Infinity War so that would have been perfect to honor Chadwick then and have a post credit scene when Tchalla gets blipped back then he’s off to endgame. They honored Chadwick but Tchalla is still alive and they can recast him through the multiverse
I kinda felt Ramonda had to die for Shuri to break and embrace her rage. I felt like up to that point, she was angry but holding it in check. So that finally tipped her over
Just gonna make two brief counterpoints:
1) Ramonda could've been placed into a coma or on life-support and Shuri could've still embraced her rage
2) Shuri still didn't embrace her rage after Ramonda died.
And both Ramonda and T'Chaka dying in a terrorist attack by a bomb
Whoa, I didn’t even catch that parallel. Amazing.
The parallelism is on point.
The marvel intro with Chadwick had me choking up right In the beginning
It was a beautiful moment of silence
Still gets a W because of the lack of amount of humor in it which is good to see someone actually make an MCU movie again where the humor doesn’t feel forced and comes natural if anything
Honestly I agree I love humor but DSMOM and She Hulk, I am f-ing disappointed and I like Love and thunder says a lot. Batman, This movie and Black Adam don't force humor and I love it.
The only section that had forced humor was when Okoye and Shuri first go to get Riri but there it's thematically appropriate because the stakes are lower. When they move from the college to the garage the humor becomes more sparse again.
@@toontrooper4103 Agreed I felt like the humor was used appropriately
I feel that way until I see knock off dollar store tony stark comes on screen 🤦
Definitely had better timed jokes than the first film did
I didn't mind their risky moves & themes but if they had cut out the American government scenes & RiRi for more focus on M'baku & Nakia and Black Panther action it would be a much better movie to me, overall i dont feel as divisive about it as most, it was fine.
Absolutely agree there. The US gov and Riri subplots just muddied up the whole thing.

@@goldsilvervscrisiscollapse4320 No. Ross is useless. Get rid of him entirely.
Come on now 😂😂
If Chadwick was still alive and playing T’challa the movie probably wouldn’t be the same as the one they have made.
I’m curious what your list is?

Not sure if I'd put the words beautiful and mess together for this film but I'll respect you're take.
Fair enough haha I think when it’s on, it’s beautiful. When it’s off, it’s a mess.
Shuri rose up to the task.
There is nothing messy about the movie at all
Sooo with Shuri being the current princess of wakanda does that make her a Disney princess??! Lol
Yep
I hope Kevin Feige learns from the Phase 4 mistakes.
And fires Ryan
Nothing to learn because Marvel is dead. And yes, Ryan sucks and should be fired. This movie is pure shite.

More should die since they got attacked. Cant be nobodi dies right? That be pretty boring.

There would be no movie without riri 💀 she’s the “scientist”

Compared to Love and Thunder, EVERYTHING WORKS in this movie
My thought about this film is that its well written and action packed, but SOME PEOPLE did not want that from this movie. I enjoyed all 3 hours but in the back of my mind i knew when the credits rolled i knew that people would see this movie as another black panther movie instead of a villian origin story with Shuri
Wakanda and Werewolf gives us the best from Tenoch Huerta and Gael García Bernal!!! Latino Pride!!!
Tbh this could have worked, I don't know why bast wasn't introduced in wf
@@emilabbey11 Absolutely. It's a confusing choice to leave her out. Any appearance she could make after this will open up a pandora's box of plot holes. Maybe if it turned out she was killed by Gorr that could explain it but supposedly she appeared in Zeus's city where the gods were safe.
@@emilabbey11 Convoluted comic story
@@suezcontours6653 I think it's actually *less* convoluted than the final movie script they went with
@@thembanitheone It was an easy movie to understand.
This is an awesome review!🤩 "We are more than what we suffer." This really resonated with me...
Only comic nerds know of Riri Williams. This is the first intro to mainstream audience

Romanda ends up dying in combat against Namor which leads to Shuri being next in line as the Black Panther and once everything is settled T'Challa is said to have awaken from his coma but not shown.

We need to revise the use of the word "mess" to describe movies. It's so overused that now it just used for "it's not what I wanted, or not too simple, so I'll call it 'mess'".
There's only two movies in the whole world that can be described like this, for God's sake. Let's rethink how we use this word on critics.

'It made a pretty bleak film even more bleak'. Me loving bleak movies.

This movie was fantastic
This was an extremely emotional film. I thought it was well done but it had problems the most outstanding being the loss of Queen Ramonda. It was hurtful and unnecessary. Shuri could have become the new Black Panther with her mother still being alive.

It truly was
Tf, y'all are literally being too critical about this are y'all just racist.
Well said

Marvel messed up by not recasting T'Challa.
Black Men: Please replace T'Challa and Continue His Story.
Marvel: Nah, Screw You Guys, We're Straight.
I believe he pronounced it “Nah-mor,” not “Nay-mor.”
12:38 Queen Ramonda is not T'challa's mother . She's the step mom. Ramonda mothered shuri

Honestly….. I hated it…
Didn't expect someone with your name to like it
They wait till half way through the movie before Namor even admits what he actually wants to do. This movie could have used a rewrite.
Honestly, I don’t like how indigenous Americans were portrayed as bad in this film.
And finally someone who admits riri is fucking shoehorned in here….. and absolutely no connection to Tony
