Thanks for this reaction! It's very difficult, if not impossible, to get an idea of what BABYMETAL really is after one or two, even 10 tracks So varied is their catalog. What they have in common is talent, sincerity and creativity.

Babymetal is the 800lb gorilla of Japanese metal. They are also the biggest Japanese band outside of Japan by far. Plus they are just fantastic.

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey 🦊🤘🔥
This song is fine to start your journey but without giving you the whole context around it is not.
There are a lot of good songs and live performances you can enjoy from early era between 2010 and 2017 to understand first what is this group all about and appreciate the evolution.
Monochrome is part of the concept album released last year called The Other One and the whole setlist got more serious and mature tone overall unlike songs from previous albums.
Anyway I'm gonna leave in my next comment more suggestions where to get proshot clips of their best live and MV performance safe to react if YT allows me to do it.
    Meanwhile next suggestion:
    - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official MV (2015)
    - Headbanger!! live at Legend 1997 (2013)
    - Megitsune official MV.
    See you next time 🦊🤘🌈

Here's the list of live performance clips usually safe to reacts without any filters so you won't need to rely on live compilations, there might be some exceptions:
      - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997, SuMetal 16th Birthday in 2013, they got MV of this and is fun, but live is a blast.
      th-cam.com/video/LNFiDWJh2FA/w-d-xo.html
      - Akatsuki, live at Budokan 2014, this is a SuMetal solo.
      th-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/w-d-xo.html
      - Megitsune, official MV is my first recommendation but is usually blocked if you don't put filters, so if you want live and safe to react, check it out Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/dU38CYkpBvI/w-d-xo.html
      - Akatsuki Unfinished Version, SuMetal solo again but with only a piano behind special performance at Legend 1997.
      th-cam.com/video/nwsinmxTxbo/w-d-xo.html
      - Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997, this is the big finale, you're gonna blow your mind with this one.
      th-cam.com/video/jRc9dbgiBPI/w-d-xo.html
      - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/ng8U_j0gpLI/w-d-xo.html
      - Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, sometimes the official live MV isn't so friendly so you know what to do.
      th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html
      - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, another SuMetal solo but way different than usual happy songs.
      th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html
      - Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday).
      th-cam.com/video/BSjv9OYtWZ0/w-d-xo.html
      - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live.
      th-cam.com/video/Yj-UQIlqsIQ/w-d-xo.html
If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 it is.
      th-cam.com/video/ESzY9dL613Q/w-d-xo.html
      - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal.
      th-cam.com/video/1dT1ywYR5So/w-d-xo.html
      - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, here live at Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/5sCvYVNeD0w/w-d-xo.html
      - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this with a short interview intro.
      th-cam.com/video/FKOL6v3Md2c/w-d-xo.html
      - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official live MV, be careful with the blocked by putting some filters just in case.
      th-cam.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BsVOSExS25Qndy1H
      - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts.
      th-cam.com/video/M8FKumvh-w8/w-d-xo.html
Here's a song you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), a helpful place to get watermarked logo clips of the original live version to curve the annoying algo.
      - GJ! live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song.
      th-cam.com/video/Hg0Rylcg8F0/w-d-xo.html
This is BMRR short vid to follow instructions and get the spreadsheet with the full list.
      th-cam.com/video/q40VmTHSh4c/w-d-xo.html
And here's a BM guide (the long one).
      th-cam.com/video/aIb2xEthdSg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EnEYU4nN3tuiY3WL
There's a beginners guide at "Briaghh" called "So... What is BabyMetal?" is more short and with some fair update until last year unlike the other one with full updates till this year.

Fellow German here (writing in Englisch so most people can read, too). Yes, Happy Metal. But not only that, they have a vast portfolio of very different songs. From very poppy to super heavy, dark even. They started when they were kids! You should explore them, you will be VERY surprised! I´m a fan since 2016, but only experienced them watching videos so far. Last year in November I saw them live and in person at the Palladium in Cologne, it was an amazing, outstanding experience! They are a one of a kind thing, they won´t fit in any box you could think of.
At this performance from 2023 you saw and heard Su-Metal (Vocal and Dance), Moametal (Scream and Dance) and Momometal (official member with this concert, Scream and Dance). Su-Metal does the main vocals most of the time, but there are performances of Moametal and Momometal taking lead. They are both very good singers, too! All three ladies are incredibly talented.
Try "Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)" from 2015 next. Su-Metal (the main singer) was 17 years old at that performance, Yuimetal (former member, left the group in 2018) and Moametal were 15.

Monochrome performance is great, but it's not a good song to show what's Babymetal about, in fact, most of their songs are vastly different, some heavy, some poppy, there are rap, ballad, power metal, indian bollywood,... but overall they're happy vibe combine with epic live show. That's why the collab with EC is the best this year, they both doing the FUN metal, they don't take themselves seriously but they take their work very seriously.

There is an amazing stripped-down "Piano" version of this song on the Japanese You Tube channel The First Take that got a Million views in the first 24 hr.s.
The more you look into to BM, the more you will learn, aside their visceral appeal, there are messages for everybody, but they leave it up to the listener to find the messages that they are ready to receive. BM is very Japanese and many of their songs follow The Way Of Zen.
For instance, this an up-lifting song, Queen Su-metal has told us as much. But I suggest you watch the First Take performance or the animated lyric video w/ sub-titles and bare in mind that Su was born in Hiroshima and see how they effect you. Every rendition can evoke a different emotion.

It’s definitly their live shows that sold me, ALLWAYS amazing production! This song is kinda on the more chill side, I prefer the more epic ones like Road of Resistance (a must watch), Arkadia, Syncopation or Kingslayer with BMTH!
But yeah, I highly suggest to almost allways go for live videos with the exeption of maybe their latest song RATATATA with Electric Callboy (banger video) or Megitsune (older video)!🫡🤩

Welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole🦊and great first reaction. This was a good choice for your first time seeing them, but as you were thinking might be the case, every song is different to the last.
BABYMETAL are like nobody else you have seen or heard. The name BABYMETAL was chosen for different reasons (their age not being a main one even though when they started in 2010 the girls were only 12 and 11 years old).
One of them (Yuimetal) last appeared in October 2017 and missed 12 months because of poor health before she left the band in October 2018. Su-metal and Moametal continued as a duo supported by dancers taking turns in the third spot until April last year when one of those dancer (Momometal) was revealed as the new third member.
The name is about them creating their own new sub-genre of metal - a fusion of Metal with JPop (not KPop, that is Korean) hooks, melodies and aesthetics - including choreographed dancing for every song ... but not dance as you may know it from pop and other acts where they use many of the same moves over and again and it is just about the beat or rhythm. BABYMETAL's choreo is interpretive, it relates to or helps to translate or explain the meaning of the song or a lyric and they work with one of Japan's very best and most creative choreographers.
It also leads the audience, gives them their cue when to jump, pump their fists, chant, sing along and pretty much become part of the performance ... no band has better crowd control and interaction than BABYMETAL.
The name BABYMETAL is also a pun or a play on words as it is written in Japanese and sounds almost identical to Heavy Metal (bebimetaru v hebimetaru).
They have about 70 songs now. Some are straight metal, some lean towards their JPop roots and they do everything in between.
They have songs in virtually every metal genre, but they will also mix and blend in so many different musical styles and genres with the metal.
Some songs are pure fun, some are deep and meaningful, some will make you bounce around with a big smile, one or two may even make you cry. You will not know which type of song it is until you hear it.
All you can predict is that the music will be quality, the instrumentals (played by the Kami Band in all their live shows) will be impeccable, Moametal and Momometal will be getting the crowd involved and having fun and Su-metal's vocals will be amazing.
Enjoy 'RATATATA' with Electric Cowboy - that is just fun start to finish ... and if you react to more BABYMETAL expect the unexpected - try 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 from abr metal.

Nice first reaction! 🤘🦊🤘 Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance!!! BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Download, Sonisphere, Glastonbury, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, they released a new amazing album last year and they just finished a world tour where they had many shows here in the US. They also recently released a new music video for their song called "Metali" that features Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello. 🤘🦊🤘

Nice reaction. More of Babymetals amazing audience participation. And in the middle of it we get the heartwarming moment when Su calls Momoko Momometal for the first time on stage. And Su and Moa stood arm in arm Su reaches out to Momo to join them center stage. A Welcome to Babymetal for all to see. This is the day she officially became part of Babymetal and got her microphone. Kawaii. They've been through a lot starting 14 years ago when Su and Moa were literally just kids. And now they just did a music festival in Japan called FOX_Fest that they produced. They've come a long way baby, The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.

Definitely check out the EC/Babymetal collab next. Afterwards, return to Babymetal:
*Road of Resistance (Official Live):* An epic power metal anthem from Jan 2015.
*Metali (Official Live):* A newer fun festival song.
*Headbanger (Legend 1997):* Dec 2013’s show for lead Su-metal’s 16th BDay. A classic early Babymetal sound.

Babymetal is a fusion of Japanese Idol and Metal. They were formed in 2010 so there have been some changes. Yui Mizuno left in 2018 and was replaced by Momoko(usually on the left). Originally they were backed by Japanese session musicians but now it's been mostly Americans since 2019. The girls were extremely young in the beginning. Babymetal was a wild project and such talented girls would not have been available for such a weird idea if they were older. Imo. Babymetal was an experimental side project until they became so popular their agency had to take them seriously.

Very nice reaction and a great pick for an introduction. Thoughtful comments. You have barely scratched the surface of this amazing band and honestly they always have a great audience...because Babymetal is just that good. This band has a complicated, interesting, sometimes very rough but always inspiring history going back to 2010. They are known for their legendary live performances. I like the energy and sensibility you brought to this reaction and as such would very much like to see you experience some more Babymetal. FYI: All those bands you mentioned at the outset owe at least some of the opportunity they are now getting to the path making of Babymetal. For a recommendation I'd say "Road of Resistance" from this same concert. Really rocks hard and very uplifting message (link follows). th-cam.com/video/XpGRYhY897E/w-d-xo.html

Nix gsagt is scho globt 🙂BabyMetal has a wide range of songs from really heavy to more pop-oriented, using different Metal genres and music styles. Monochrome is more in the middle or more on the pop-side. Heavier songs are e.g. Megitsune, Ijime Dame Zettai or Road of Resistance. E.g. Road of Resistance is an outright PowerMetal song, which DragonForce helped to realize. BabyMetal has a long history and they started very young. They were amazing from the beginning and their youthful energy and fearlessness is astounding, but you may choose performances of later concerts (2023 PIA Arena) first to get used to BabyMetal. After 1-2 songs you can start from the beginning, watching their growth is amazing.
