I went there once in August-time 2003. Following the loss of my mother Káren Mitchell, my dad Steven dated this nice Portuguese 🇵🇹 woman called CLÁRIBÊLA SILVA. Cláribêla had four kids; Hildeina, Carlôta, Énrico & Alfredo. Alfredo suffered a lethal 4-storey fall from a balcony aged *18 months,* so Cláribêla only had three 3️⃣ kids; Hildeina (8), Carlôta (6) & Énrico (5) back then. Cláribêla lived in Sunderland not far from NORTH SHIELDS and we [my dad Steven & I, Cláribêla, Carlôta & Énrico] had a fun 🤩 day at *Wet ‘n’ Wild* in NORTH SHIELDS. It was amazing 🤩.
@@Flipsy_clipsthat’s my only regret, I went in July but only went around the back but couldn’t find a place to get in. Been going here since very early 2000s. Really sad to see now😢
Some sad nostalgia seeing this. My old primary school had multiple pre-summer break trips to this place back in the early 2000s. Remember the biggest slide being the Abyss which was connected to the tower, it was pretty much a straight drop. I was way too chicken to go down it at that age.
I thought they’d attempt to fix it back up, it’s such a shame to see a beloved childhood place demolished. Great memories especially of the lazy river haha
I can tell you Serco had 0 interest in fixing it up. Proposal after proposal was submitted to them, and they didn't want to sign off on anything. The most they would spend building up to its closure was on skeleton maintenance.
@@Tier3Myers can't do a Timelapse but will definitely be doing an update later in the week so subscribe and switch notifications on to get an update. Appreciate your comments.
It would of been nice if they let people have one last look around the place before pulling it down. Could of opened it up for a weekend & showed people behind the scenes & let them take photos and videos. Used to love going here in my teens would spend hours inside the place.
Bit of an odd demolition method. You'd think they would take down all the slides and staircase structures first, before setting to work on the building. Seems like they are trying to get it down as quickly as possible. If you can, it would be awesome to see another drone shot in a day or two as it don't look like it will take them long.
@@UrbexDroneView Cheers, always interesting watching something getting pulled down as you get to see parts that could never be seen whilst its complete.
The part demolished already did have several slides: the Twister, the Kamikaze, and the big blue one I can't remember the name of, hence why you can see the slide pieces debris. Maybe they just got rid of those slides and the parts closest to it first before tackling the other ones. Those 3 were the shorter steeper ones, rather than longer shollower ones which you can still see,
Hi @UrbexDroneView, hope you are well! Just reaching out from The Northern Echo. I was wondering if we could have permission to use this footage for an article - it's a fantastic video! Thanks!

What a sad sight. I had hours of fun their with my child and it is a shame that this wonderful facility has been lost.
Very sad 😢it will probably end up as offices
I'm glad I got in when it wasn't under construction and got every bit of it on tape

Great drone footage! Would be great to see a Timelapse of the whole thing😢

I will do that and record the demolition.

So does that mean it's not reopening then???
I went once when i was in primary school iirc and that place scared me. Plus i couldn't swim. Whats getting built in place of it?
Not sure what is planned for the site.
Bet nothing gets built there after it’s gone
I almost drowned in that place! 🤦♂️
This sucks. As if the north east needed less places for kids to have fun.
This seems like a total waste.
