Hi Noel, love your reviews! I'm trying to choose between the Storm and the inferno 72 as a daily driver in french waves (2-6ft). What are the main differences between the 2 for you? Thanks!
The I72 has more speed and flow rail to rail. The Storms seems to have a little more of a HPSB feel to it. Making it a little more demanding... The I72 seems more forgiving and a little easier to surf.
INFERNO 72 X STORMS LOOKS THE SAME READING READING THE ASPECTS .BOTH CAME FROM DISCO INFERNO.SO WHATS THE DIFERENCE ?????? YOU ARE THE BEST GUY ON REVIEW !!!
The Storms surfs a little more like a HPSB… tighter turns in the pocket but you gotta work a little harder rail to rail to generate speed. The I72 carries more speed, glide, and that makes it easier to shred.
I72 offers more performance compared to OG and a bit more flare in turns. They both paddle good... the OG might be a little more user friendly. The Sub Driver 2.0 that I had seems a bit long for me in the stock dims so I ordered a new one. No comment on that model yet.... sorry
The I72 is faster in 2-4' surf and it fits in a tighter pocket better due to it being shorter. I also like the I72 better as a Daily Driver.... I don't have to work as hard for down the line speed. The Fever is a legit HPSB.... on of my all time Favorites and when the waves are pumping 5-8' Surf that would be my first choice.
Hello Noel! Another great review on what seems to be an amazing surfboard! Thanks for that!👏 Here is my question, how would you compare the I72 to the medina model, both the P.U construction? Overall which one do you like the most?
Two great boards.... the Medina might be a bit faster down the line and smoother rail to rail but the I72 is more radical in the pocket and faster rail to rail.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Hi Noel, it's been long since this review and I'm not sure if I will get an answer but betwen the two boards Luy mentioned, could you say any of them make it easy to catch the wave? Where I usually surf is getting more crowded day by day... in all this competition I feel I need a board that goes into the wave as soon as possible so I cant stand up a split second faster. Thanks a lot!
Great review! How would you recommend it for the lower intermediate surfer who's a bit heavier in stature? Worried it might be a bit too high performance.
I prefer the I72 I’ve the SD 2.0. The I72 seems to be faster and easier to surf. The SD 2.0 suits a front footed surfer better as it likes to driven from the front foot. The I72 seems to be more neutral… so it works good for both front footed and back footed surfers.
Hi Noel great review as always! Just a quick one does it have enough nose rocker for a front footed surfer. I’ve learnt that I surf more off my front foot and that my board I ride currently is too flat in the nose and waves that I should make the drop in or ride end up catching on the nose rail. Keep up the best reviews on TH-cam mate! Cheers 🇦🇺
you were F'ing ripping on that board. Looked better under your feet then a lot of other board reviews. Looks like an epic board. I wonder if better then my Pyzel phantom or JS Monstabox.

@@surfnshowreviews7777 Hi Noel. How would you compare the I72 vs the Driver 2.0? I know the Driver 2.0 is a HPSB, however I've heard it goes well in 2-4' surf. Which one would you pick as a daily driver?
Air 17x is a great board but it did not make my Favorites list. The I72 is faster rail to rail and it carries more down the line speed with a bit more flare in the pocket.
Hey Noel, I have a quick questions. How does the dark arts hold compared to Epoxy or PU? I generally ride Epoxies a lot however I find when I have a lot of speed or the wave is on the larger side I have a hard time holding through my bottom turns and I don’t usually have that problem with my PU boards. So where does the dark arts construction land between the two?
Hi Noel, I have a I72 test drive board in dark arts 5.10 19 and 2.50 28L, to test it and then decide between PU or DA construction. Can you tell me what futures fin set is the most similar to the ones you used during the review. The board has white painted rails on top of the glassing, did your DA have the same painted rails? Does sharpeye does this way? Cheers!! Miguel
Hey Noel. Sick review. I am trying to decide between the mini ghost or the Inferno 72. Both look super fun, but the Inferno keeps sticking out. My hang up is that I surf in really cold water so need some extra volume, therefore usually between 31 and 32 liters. That pushes me into a 6'0 Inferno or a 5'10 mini ghost. I'm 5'11 and don't love surfing boards longer than me. Should that push me into the MG or get that hangup out of my head? Plan on using from thigh high to overhead.
Hi Noel, Amazing review keep doing your great job. I got a question about this board. I saw a lot of surfing clips with this board but it always looks like this board going to the bottom of the wave. Is it right? Because I am considering between the HT2 and the inferno 72 and I'm afraid that this board won't be good in beach brakes and closeouts.
The HT2 might be a little more high performance and sharper off the bottom in hollow Beachies. The I72 seems a little faster down the line and easier to surf.
Hey Noel, love your channel! I bought the P2 after your review great board, surfed in 2ft to over double overhead, but I find it a little narrow for me sometimes and lacking a bit of squirt. Looking for a quicker squash tail that's a bit wider and more stable, do you think this would fit the bill? My other boards are a Glazer, DHD black diamond. I think you would love the Glazer. Cheers 🤙🤙
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Hey Noel, thanks for the reply. yes I've used AM2 techflex, jordys, Pyzel set. The Pyzels thrusters are pretty good and I put the Quad set in for heavy, hollow days. I use those same fins in another board and get a lot of squirt, so I was thinking its more in the board design? If they are too similar, what would you recommend in a Squash tail? I'm 6'2, 178 pounds, intermediate. Liter range 30-34 and normally like an all rounder between 6-6'3 long. I've been eyeing up a Rusty Keg as well, might be worth a review :)
Hi, great review as ever! A quick question if you have a moment… I am 183cm / 6ft and looking to get the Inferno 72 in their E3 epoxy construction, either 5’10 or 5’9 length… I can make either work to give the volume I want. Normally I use a 5’10 for my HPSB but wondered if there might be a benefit in going 5’9 for the Inferno 72, to fit in the pocket of smaller waves a bit better than a 5’10? I know it’s a trade off between rail length/hold of the 5’10 working better in bigger waves and the 5’9 maybe fitting better in smaller waves/for manoeuvrability. Just which way to go :-) Thanks
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Thanks for your input 🙂 What would you say the most suited wave range would be for the 5'9? and what wave range for the 5'10? I am looking to use the I72 in 1-6ft
The Shadow has more rocker compared to the I72... so the Shadow will offer more traction/hold on rail but it will slower in smaller waves. The Shadow is a legit HPSB and a better comparison would be the SharpEye 77. Both of these boards will work best in waves with some power or hollow waves. The I72 is more of a Daily Driver or Small Wave performance board... best in average to less than average waves.
Hey Noel. Patron here. I’m choosing between this board and the fever for a daily driver in Indo for a couple months.. which is better and any others you might recommend? Cheers
The Fever is better in 4-8’ surf… you can hold the rail Better in overhead surf. The I72 shred 3-6’ surf and it’s a great daily but it’s not my board of choice in 6’+ surf. Hard to bury the rail in bigger surf
Hi noel, I bought an inferno 72 in the standard pu construction instead of the light team construction. It's a good board but it feels stiff. When I'm in full speed, it's really difficult to control it. I'm wondering if your pu board it's in the light team and if you think it would make a considerable difference? Cheers, I love your channel and surfing!!
@@surfnshowreviews7777 I started using the AM1 honeycomb (futures) and then changed to Hayden Shapes HS2 for more pivot. It improved a little bit but I just don't feel in control at all at full speed with neither set of fins. It reminds me of firewire timbertek construction I used to have. It was so stiff that it was hard to turn at high speed. I also have a CI Fever in ultra light and a Pyzel Ghost in the same volume and both boards feel amazing at full speed. This is why I think the standard construction in Inferno 72 what is causing the problem.
@@facundosaid5490 Team Light glassing will offer a bit more feel and flex. It’s also easier to put the board where you want in the lip quicker due to the board being lighter. However the board being heavier at high speeds should give you a bit more control not less. Unless your are struggling with the board being stiff in flexing.
hi Noel, excellent video, what surfboard do you think is better as a daily driver for intermediate level and keep progressing, an inferno 72 or Pyzel Phamton? thanks for your videos. Saludos desde Chile.
The Phantom is easier to surf... it paddles better, it’s faster down the line with more glide, and it carves better. The I72 is sharper in the pocket, gets vertical quicker, and more radical for progressive surfing.
Hey Noel, how did the inferno 72 compare to the HT2.0 from Sharepeye? What’s your thoughts on a single concave board like the HT2 compared to a board that has a single to double concave? Anything stand out?
The HT2 seems to have more rocker. It’s a legit HPSB so it takes a bit more rail surfing to get it going. I also think the HT2 is more demanding…. You gotta be on your game. The I72 is more forgiving, it Carrie’s has more glide and speed down the line with less effort. The I72 is more of a Daily Driver or Small Wave performance board.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Ah yip, so the HT2 could have a better wave range say 3-7ft than the i72? Do you notice anything different about boards that just have a single concave instead of a single to double?
@@joseande9627 Hard to say if I could tell the difference in bottom contours with the rockers being different. The HT2 does have a better wave range 3-7’ surf and the I72 is 2-6’ surf. I highly recommend the I72 for intermediate surfers. If I had to choose one… I say I72
Not a big fan of dark colored decks due to heat attraction however you can customize a different color with them. You should look into Coil Industries Alien Technology out of Florida with their patented golf ball like construction because the projection is similar. Also if you've ever tried a CI MTF-A it's another amazing sprung forward surfboard due to it's tail shape!
Hello I currently have a Rocket Wide Squash Tail 5'7. I'm looking for a second board for winter waves or stronger wing day. My question is whether Phantom, Pyzalien 2 and Inferno 72 would be good options?
P2 has the best wave range at 3-10’ surf. The Phantom carves best out of the 3 and it’s the easiest board to shred. The I72 offers the most progressing in 2-6’ surf... more radical rail to rail out of the 3 boards.
Hey Noel, can u help me out - is rocker important to get into hollow waves, or can low rocker do the trick since you’ve got more speed coming in? Trying to figure out if the seaside can handle steep waves down south. Thanks man love the content!
Hey Noel, love my sharpeye in DA construction. First one I got was in PU with FCS 2 loved it so much went custom to fine tune and in Dark Arts BUT it came with future boxes… other than your fin what would you recommend rake template?
Not at this time. That board needs a good wave… Not ideal for our waves or our community. I really don’t have much desire to ride those rockered out HPSB’s these days.
The I73 offers a little more performance in overhead surf compared to the Storms. The Storms might shred small waves a little better though. I like the I72 better…
Another great review Sir Noel, just wanna ask what you can recommend for futures fins or for future finbox types of fins that would be suitable for this I72? hope to hear your response cause I'm getting this sled by end of the months once my salary arrive hehe.
You can ride the Al Merrick fins or the new Jordy's will go good too. I highly recommend my MS-Raked Template. There is nothing like them... check them out here.... www.shopsurfnshow.com/collections/fins/products/surf-n-show-thruster-rakes
Hey Noel. I watched this review and the Sharpeye Storms review back to back and they sound like the same board :) What would you say are the key points of difference? Thanks.
They are pretty similar on paper… the I72 is a bit more user friendly, it carries a little more speed down the line and more flow. Two very important attributes for me.
Hi Noel . I have a neckbeard2, CI Happy for better days at home and a local shape step up for 8 plus. Im torn between this Inferno o flatearth to sit above neckbeard2 o when repair this o happy when surfing. Any advice?. BEST regards and great Channel
There is some wave overlap on the NB2 and I72. The NB2 is faster and pivots a little quicker. I say go FE with my Pivot Twin + Trailer…. It’s so fun and very high performance lines. You can also shred the FE as a Pure Twin with my HP Twins in shoulder high surf and have fun. For me the I72 is epic and I would have it as my daily or HPSB for So Cal Waves.
6’0 150lbs. I run a 5’10 27L PU driver 2.0 and a 5’9 26L light speed driver 2.0. I enjoy the pop of the lightspeed. Do you like the dark arts IF72 or light speed driver 2.0? Should I keep my volume in the same range as my light speed?
Hey Noel! I'm trying to decide between this and the Pyzel Phantom as a daily driver for 2-6ft surf; just wanted to know which one you personally would like better for all ranges of waves in SoCal from weak mushy to powerful hollow waves and breaks?
The Phantom paddles better, easy to surf, carries more speed and like to carve. The I72 offers more vertical pocket surfing and shreds waves like a HPSB but easier to surf due to it having less overall rocker. The I72 carries excellent speed and it’s more user friendly compared to a normal HPSB but the Phantom has less rocker and a bit more glide.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 what would you suggest in terms of sizing? im 5ft 6 and 145lbs and currently riding 28.5l and I consider myself to be an intermediate surfer.
Fever goes better in 5-8’ surf, it has more foiled rails so it cuts through the water easier. The I72 goes better as a small wave performance board / daily driver. I would be stocked with either. My choice is I72 for 1-4’ shredding in EPS or Dark Arts, and the Fever as my HPSB best in 4-8’ surf PU/Poly.
The Phantom paddles better, likes to carve more too. This I72pivots quicker in the pocket and it a bit more radical too. The Phantom is easier to surf and a little more forgiving. Both boards are insane and you want to push your progress surfing and draw tighter turns in the pocket then go I72

Hi Noel. I recently got 2 shadow surfboards in both PU and Dartarts. both are the same thickness 2 5/16”. I have noticed dartarts seems have fuller rail and thicker than PU. I am just wondering if it happened to you as well and i want to clarify if its natural to dartarts. I have asked supplier for it, though. please, let me know your experience.
Hi Noel, would you recommend this board for an early intermediate as a daily driver or is it too advance and would be better to progress from other alternatives? Have being thinking between Pyzalien2, rocket redux or this one
@@surfnshowreviews7777 hey Noel I know you recommended the phantom which i do find really cool, but I’m really interested in getting a eps board and for some reason Pyzel no longer makes on that construction. Is there any other alternative board you recommend which might be close to phantom? Thanks
Why are standard dims for this model so thick? I got one and it works great as a groveller (wave pool size) because it has so much lift, but as soon as it gets overhead it is really hard to sink the rail.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Mine is custom ordered but I was so thrown off by the sizing, I jusf went with stock dims. Sharpeye said not to be thrown off by the thickness because the board is so foiled, so a 2 1/2" would feel like a 2 3/8".
Roughly the same… the SD 2.0 suits a neutral to front footed surfers better. The I72 seems to suit all 3 orientations better making it a little more user friendly.
Noel, hopefully not too late for a questions. I have been surfing a 6'1 x 20 x 2.625 (32.4L). I am 6'2, 183lbs. Board feels big to me, feels like it sits up on the water too much when cutting back. What're your thoughts on my dims/how I can correct if I were to re-purchase. Thanks
I suggest trying a medium raked set of fins like the Al Merrick fins. Maybe you are getting a little to much lift and a medium fin can sometimes help the rails engage more and make the board looser

Hi noel, I am your big fan. I just started riding a shortboard a month ago. I rode a [5.10] MICK PANNING EUGENIE (33L) as my first shortboard. It was very difficult, but I was able to do riding and pumping in about 3weeks. And now I'm practicing turn. it's a just little turn for cutback. but not a perfect cutback. just little turn. I go to the wave pool almost everyday to practice surfing, so I think my surfing skills are growing faster than others and i am also very good at sports. I think improving skills much faster than others. I changed the board 3 days ago. It's a [6.0] x [19 1/2] x [2 1/2] 31L epoxy board, but i feel it's too long for me, so it's difficult to practice turn. So, I'm thinking of buying a new board. Please recommend one out of three. 1. INFERNO72 - [5'9] x [19 1/4] x [2 1/2] _ 27.9L 2. PYZEL PHANTOM - [5'9] x [19 1/4] x [2 7/16] _ 28.60L 3. Disco Cheater - [5'9] x [19 1/2] x [2 1/2] _ 29L My Height 5'8" My Weight 150 lb I usually practice takeoffs and side riding on the waves at 4 feet, and now I'm trying to practice cutbacks little by little. I know those boards are hard to control for Beginner/Intermediate. but I want to try and practice every day so I can get used to it. Please recommend a board so I need your help. Last question. Would it be better to keep practicing turns for cut back in the 4 foot wave? I can't turn and cutback yet, so it wouldn't be right to try takeoffs and riding and pumping on bigger waves.
I suggest the Disco Cheater… it paddles better, it’s faster, more stable, and easier to surf. Keep doing what your doing to progress and surfing the pool will get you better faster. However it’s very important to surf in the ocean too… you learn to read waves and grow in surfing that you can’t learn in the pools.

Hello Noel!
Another great review on what seems to be an amazing surfboard! Thanks for that!👏
Here is my question, how would you compare the I72 to the medina model, both the P.U construction?
@@radiokaput The Medina has less entry rocker… so it paddles better compared to I72.
Great review! How would you recommend it for the lower intermediate surfer who's a bit heavier in stature? Worried it might be a bit too high performance.
It might be a little to high performance
I still curious for the DHD Phoenix review!
I’m still waiting for my boards that I ordered last Nov/Dec.
Noel can you compare two of the most hyped small wave performance boards of 2021. The disco inferno and the Sub-driver
Cheers 🇦🇺
Yes, the I72 has good entry rocker and it wont bog in the nose area like flatter entry rocker boards do for you.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Great thanks Noel!!

Yep! Id also like to hear ya answer on this one Noel!! Driver 2.0 vs I72 !?
Hey noel,
I have the air 17x, wondering if there is any similarities between them and which u preferred? U were ripping on both models.
Cheers!!

I say MG without a doubt!!
Hi Noel,
Amazing review keep doing your great job.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 very helpful, had the same doubt!
Cheers 🤙🤙
Pretty similar to P2… maybe a little more responsive but not sure you will get more squirt. Did you try different fins on the P2 for my Squirt?

Hey Noel how does this board compare to driver 2.0?
Awesome review
Does this board need to be on its rail early or is it a bit more forgiving?
I say somewhere in the middle... not to early and not to forgiving either.
The PU looked smoother under your feet or maybe it's just what i'm used watching from surf comps.
I say 5’9” for quicker pivot in smaller wave pockets. If your focus for this board is small wave ripping then the 5’9” will suit you better
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Thanks for your input 🙂 What would you say the most suited wave range would be for the 5'9? and what wave range for the 5'10?

Absolutely
What would you prefer the flat earth or I72 for everyday waves/conditions 2-4foot.

another comparison request! please compare i72 with pyzel shadow? what would the difference look like in 3-4ft surf.

My board was team light PU/Poly. What fins are you using in yours?
Hi Noel, which board will be better in small choppy 2-3 feet? Storms or Inferno 72? what are the main diff between both of them?
I say Storms…. It will carry more speed

2.
PYZEL PHANTOM - [5'9] x [19 1/4] x [2 7/16] _ 28.60L
3. Disco Cheater - [5'9] x [19 1/2] x [2 1/2] _ 29L
My Height 5'8"
My Weight 150 lb
I usually practice takeoffs and side riding on the waves at 4 feet,
and now I'm trying to practice cutbacks little by little.
