I'm watching the old storylines again and realized the Luke really loves Noah, even if Noah keeps on pushing him away. He never gives up. Even with the current Nuke storyline. It's sweet!
I say in situation like this, we gay people are always going to be the one getting hurt. No matter how people treat us like shit. We still love them so much and still care for them.
Noah is gaslighting Luke in this scene. Noah is the one that set this whole ordeal in to motion by kissing Luke. The reason why he even kissed Luke in the first place was because he was already drawn to him. Noah had this internal conflict within himself for years and was growing comfortable around Luke, possibly believing they were kindred spirits. Since Noah has never out loud expressed who or what he is to himself let alone anyone else, he is obviously denying his truest of feelings. Luke wants so much for Noah to just relax and feel comfortable around him so he can come to his discovery without judgement and with understanding. Luke truly does care about Noah and Noah certainly knows that deep down.
The moment between them at 3:02: "It doesn't matter" "It does to me." is so soapy and beautiful. Luke is so in love with Noah, and Noah so wants to admit his own feelings.
I was THIS CLOSE to jumping into the TV screen and punching Noah in the face when he tells Luke to go to hell. My God. Luke never did anything wrong. Never. Noah made all the mistakes and just because he's in denial about who he is doesn't give him the right to blame someone else for his actions. God, why does Luke like him?! I don't see it!

Ugh, these words and the looks on their faces made me melt faster than a popsicle in July, especially when Luke is talking. You can really see how much he cares when you look in his eyes. It makes me so sad that Noah always refuses Luke, although Luke only wants to help. It's just like in "Brokeback Mountain" and when Jack dies in the end, Ennis realizes how he fucked his life up by always refusing Jack's and his own feelings - his heart breaks.
If Noah's dad talked like that about my little sister, I'd destroy him. I don't care if he was a colonel, I'd destroy him. No human being deserves to be talked to like that about one of their family members.
I agree that Noah was overly harsh when he told Luke to go to hell, but I think some people are being too hard on him. Remember, he's been told that being gay is wrong his entire life and now he has to deal with the fact that he is. Luke isn't blameless - he keeps pressuring Noah to come out instead of giving him the time he needs. I had to agree when Noah said that Luke wrongly thinks he knows what's best for everyone - he's like "YOU HAVE TO COME OUT NOW". Though he does care about Noah.
Man, I'm starting to see why Van was nominated for an Emmy. Luke has those one-hitter-quitter lines. With every excuse Noah makes, Luke gives him hard-hitting questions.

Why is Luke always the doormat in this friendship triangle? I feel like this show is presenting him as the central character in this storyline and everybody else is just there to abuse him and hurt him and therefore make us cry.
