  • This time I'll take a look at cordless power tools batteries made by third party companies and compare them with original ones.
    In my videos I’m talking a lot about cordless power tools batteries. I did few DIY videos how to identify problems and repair bad batteries. This time I have opportunity to take a look at third party manufactured brand new 18V lithium batteries. Those came from company called: Shenzhen Rich Haoyuan Energy Technology.
    Company website: www.fhy668.com
    eshop link to get batteries on line: fhy.en.alibaba....

    Thank you for sharing this video. As a manufacturer with 12 years experience of these batteries, we are faced with more and more challenge. Not because of competitors like Rich Haoyuan, but because those who want a short term profit produce unqualified products. Every after market battery should be tested strictly, not only assembling! Please note that there are good and bad goods made in China, but do not try to find the cheapest one! Thanks for reading my comment.
    Oh, I nearly forget. This is Devin Lee from Shenzhen Jinjunye Electronics Co.,Ltd, if any question, please contact me kindly.
    Three-point shot🏀✌

    In fact, who is to blame for the birth of bad batteries are makita, bosch, etc. for their policy of selling original batteries at very high prices, in many cases it is preferable to buy a new drill.
    If they offer us original batteries at a reasonable price we would not have to look for alternatives.

      it is their business model, you can buy a decent drill for a price of a new Bosch 18v 5ah gba

    Samsung and other manufacturers of 18650 have different grades for their cells. Chances are the off brand is a low grade cell. Or it's possible they just put fake Samsung wrapping on the cells. Test the load capacity between the original and faux by drilling a large hole with a spade bit or auger bit. If the faux pack has cheap fake cells the drill will cut out when amp draw is extreme.

    The important question is: Does the 3rd party replacement have the balance connectors connected correctly?
    1:53 looks like the balance circuit is skipped over...

    Nice video but I would like to see the batteries tested with the actual power tools I am anticipating that the after market batteries have much lower discharge rate. At least this was my experience with one of them. Which meant that they will run something light like a screwdriver with no problems but with tools that Drew more current, like the circular saw, they were terrible they wouldn't even cut 1 cm into a piece of wood that original battery would cut easily for continuous 10 to 15 minutes.

    Thanks for this good video. But i disagree with you and i want to point out some important details. If you pause on 4:27 you will notice that heat sensor on the aftermarket is misplaced. This sensor should be placed between batteries to detect overheating properly. 2nd point there are some missing resistors on the aftermarket battery. Also (time 4:16) It is barely visible that there are some more missing plastic parts between cells and I assume that these parts are used for heat dissipating in the original one. So in hot environments if you force this aftermarket battery with continious high load use or charging it with a fast charger like GAL 1880 you will have a risk of fire. Another point i want to mention; these kind of batteries have no brand, so the seller/producer that you had bought from is some how a honest one it is obvious that they used good parts and cells in it. Since there is no brand people will have a risk to pick a bad quality one and they may have really troubles with them. Breifly I don't recommend any aftermarket batteries.

  • @ahmadwahdan
    @ahmadwahdan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You might need to discharge those batteries using your Skyrc Imax to make sure they are indeed 1500mah per cell or you can discharge the whole pack to make sure they are at their rated capacity.

    • @ivanstroganov5458
      @ivanstroganov5458 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahmed Wahdan you could measure the whole pack capacity for that. I wouldn't mess with the individual cells since those are perfectly factory balanced already, which is important because there us no balance charging with these power tool batteries.

    The problem with third party batteries is always you don't really know if they are honest and everything which is promised is really inside the battery. With this 2 examples the batteries were 100% OK, but batteries from other sources can be different. If they use fake cells or the spot weldings are bad, you don't get the power like original batteries, especially with high power devices like circular saws or chain saws (they can have up to 1000 w motor power) Original ones are more expensive, but in the last years prices have dropped and from internet shops you can get affordable original batteries now, often with a one or 2 year warranty.

      even online I'm finding it will cost me $90 for two OEM replacement batteries, but the drill w/ two batteries, charger, and flashlight set cost only $10 -20 more originally. Though it turns out I found the whole set again on sale for $70 shipped, so I guess it worked out ok for me.

      @@ionymous6733 I found the same thing !!! You can buy a drill, charger, 2 batteries for what they want for 2 batteries !!!! Why I have 3 skill drills, good since I have dropped a couple off high places and broken them, I just bought a worx 3/8" 20 volt lithium drill 2 batteries and charger for LESS money than 2 replacement skil 18 volt nicad batteries and the lithium batteries wer a higher AH rating, I already have worx tools so now i have 4 tools , 4 chargers and 6 batteries, go figure. skil has discontinued the older 18 volt power tools and batteries and since the company has new owners and a new line of 20 volt lithium powered tools, and guess what ???? The new lithium batteries won't fit the older tools !!!! Surprise
      surprise !!!! they want you to buy ALL their new tools !!!!! We were left out to dry by skil, so to hell with them I bought a different brand !!!

    are cordless power tool batteries balance charged by the charger (ie iMax B6) or just protected by the battery packs circuit?
    If you look at a makita battery and charger, there are about 7 or 8 terminals on top of the main 2 charging ones.

      I'll keep your info. We use quite a few of these batteries, and buying batteries is a minefield, so it great to see a manufacturer making decent quality stuff at a reasonable price. Do your packs still do the charge-failure-count such that the charger locks-out if the state is 'bad'? Half our 13 packs are now in this state but in fact still have 90% of original capacity and charge fine on a standard RC charger. Packs that simply didn't do this would be _better_ than OEM.

    I would order some of these replacement makita batteries but this company has a website without any way to order directly from them. Without a way to order off of the RHY website it makes this company seem fraudulent which will result in lost clientele ! No one wants to place an order through email, that does not give people the impression of a secure purchase.

      All batteries are a fire risk. OEM Dell batteries turn into potatoes all the time (flat batteries don't handle internal pressure nearly as well as cylinders).
