We went to Gangtok from Siliguri by road in Dec 2022. I had seen the construction at that time. The pillars were huge. Nostalgia feeling seeing the same roads and rivers again.

Ever questioned what take this so much times 75 years !!! 75 ! to connect the North East States with the rest of the country !? Why !! Are these States are not part of India?! Are they not Indian !? Why a Indian living in border village will not get the facilities what other Indians getting it in Delhi and other cities huh !?

This project includes 41.55 km in West Bengal and a mere 3.5 km in Sikkim. The two terminal stations, Sevoke falls in West Bengal and Rongpo is at the border between West Bengal and Sikkim. So, I dont really think the project is Sikkim based. Additionally this project was started in 2008-2009, when Mamata Bannerjee was the railway minister of India.
It will reach to the Sikkim in it's 2nd phase. And Mamata Begum didn't even developed the North Bengal. In Siliguri we aren't getting the tap water for weeks... We all have to travel far to bring water. And in kalimpong and Darjeeling they don't even have it.
@AnikSamanta Lol! The actual work of this project started 3 years ago. Sevok to Rongpo line will be in 1st phase and in 2nd phase up to Gangrok.

@@harankumar7745 it got delayed due to some wildlife concerns and the final judgement of the SC came after a prolonged time. However, it was indeed a project which was proposed by Miss Bannerjee and it was she who laid the foundation stone. As for the extension, it's just a plan and no real work has started. No money has been sanctioned for the extension. So, we still don't know whether it will happen or not. It's India and things get delayed by not months, but by years.

Sorry for your inconvenience, but at certain moment for better viweing with a 16:9 screen, I rotate the map 90° where the north was at right hand side, so may be this was the moment where you found Sikkim at right side which was not east, it is north. Requesting you to watch the video without skipping,
