let's not forget that Toph's Earth/Metal bending was so advanced that she could feel the bits of metal inside Korra's body. She also held up that giant library as a 12 year old. (Must have been several 1000 tons that damn building) I'd definitely say that prime Toph would have obliterated Kuvira. She would feel the metal coming her way. And Toph's seismic sense was lightning fast. The moment The Boulder put his heel on the ring, he was a goner. And toph also demonstrated some agility when she took down the OP fire benders on the airship. She can throw some decent kicks too.
@@atlast7035 over power fire bender. Everyone seems to forget that toph feels literaly the whole earth to the point that she know what is happening to her daughters and the world even if she's in the swamp all years alone. In that, u all know who's gonna win folks
Not to mention, that Kuvira mostly used metal bending with the metal plates on her armor. I could see Toph using her own armor against her. Toph was very strong, I think she might have been able to overpower Kuvira's control of the metal, literally disrupting her ability to bend metal while fighting.
Not only was she holding a several thousand tone building she was holding it in the physical world as it was it was trying to escape into the spirit world she was physically holding something to barr it fom entering a diffrent realm.
Is no one going to mention how old Toph casually mentions that she can "see" the ENTIRE WORLD?? "I'm more connected than you'll EVER be." If that doesn't tell you what's probably not even half her power and ability then? Despite her bad back killing her, she'd straight crush Kuvira.
Get Shwifty just chilling she can see the whole world. She can lift mountains of metal. Literally just swallow that upstart with a mountain and shove her to the mantle

This isnt a fight it's a massacre and the only winner would be Toph...
A grown and angry Toph wins. She developed the techniques Kuvira practiced her whole life. Toph would probably see her every move coming before she used her seismic sense. Old Lady Toph probably could have just restrained Kuvira in her own armor and threw her in the corner like a child. But like old lady Toph said its not her fight.
I've always wondered why no one thought of that. Like, I'd understand if the armor was platinum but she was using it for bending and those epaulette-like things her soldiers had were also made of a bendable metal, as proven hen she tried to drop Varrick on the train tracks. I guess it would've been too dark of an idea for a Nickelodeon show (though they did show a murder/suicide and bloodbending was also pretty dark)
Toph thinks outside the box. That‘s how she invented metal bending. She was like „Can I do this?“ and so she did it and is on a much higher level than Kuvira, who only follows the way she learned it and doesn‘t discover new things.
@@galinivanov1171 i think it would come down to actual time you need to get a grip on the armor. If you can't focus your abilities it doesn't really matter that it can work. That would be in Kuviras favor since she's light on her feet, making it really hard to get a grip on her armor. Toph might be fast with her reactions, but I doubt that she is able to instantly grab something that moves somewhat unpredictable. Yes, she can sense where anything is, if it is connected to earth, but her style of listening and reacting doesn't alllow her to actually predict something, therefore she can't just grab a metal armor after anyone takes a step.
Against a non-bender, or against one who wasn't as proficient, I'd agree that was a very valid tactic. But against someone like Kuvira, I'd have to believe that distance would make a difference. With the armor being in contact with her, I'd think you'd have more leverage in keeping control, as opposed to someone at a distance. However, it could be a great distraction attack. Force the wearer to keep focusing on their own armor to keep it under their own control.

Jonathan Tairov Kuvira could simply take control of the metal back....I feel anything having to do with metal Kuvira would have a far better advantage.. sure Toph learned the art, but Kuvira seemed to have been raised into it so definitely she sees it more than earth.
I don't agree there MrAstro, sure Kuvira had more time to master it, but Toph's understanding of earth and metalbending were different then essentially every character in the series. If both Toph and Kuvira were bending the same metal, Toph's raw power would easily give her the edge, futher more Kuvira will have never seen anyone use a style like Toph's giving her a massive advantage there. People forget got innovative Toph really is, Kuvira can kind-of compared, but not really. All she did was make a unique style of metal bending that depended on precision as opposed to power, but Toph most definitely has that level of precision aswell can she actually uses it a considerable amount against foes she could easily overpower to win.
Toph held up a massive library building for like 10 minutes as it was fighting against her to sink, while she was standing on sand, as a small child...
@Rj-Lamar uh no not necessarily. Speed does help. But just because ur faster doesn't gurantee victory. Plus toph is pretty fast herself. And her holding up that library just shows how strong her bending abilities are.
Kuvira, rules with an iron fist Toph, is the iron fist Prime vs prime, Toph would win Give Kuvira another 40 years, maybe MAYBE she will adapt to a new style that Toph might not be able to handle, who knows.
I disagree, Toph was a prodigy, during the events of the original series, she was already considered one of the best earthbenders out there... at the age of 12. It is non-sensical to assume that Toph would remain as an traditional earthbender, considering that she invented metalbending and its applications for the police corp. If anything, modern earth and metalbending would have been heavily influenced by Toph's style. I would agree that stating that creating metalbending does not necessarily mean she is the best metalbender, however, considering that she is still a contemporary of Kuvira, it is unlikely that metalbending had evolved so much as for Kuvira to have a dominant strategy. We can even see the extent of Toph's power in LoK, she can bend without using her arms in a very fluid manner.
@@jemmapaxtonhiggins6335 she cant see anything, but feels everything. If anyone, toph would be the only one who can bend without moving since her mind and imagination is the size of the entire world basically.
Toph was able to sense even very small amount of metal poison in Korra's body and since Kuvira's strength is predominantly metal bending , Toph will be able to redirect any attack on her and hence win the fight.
Yeah, I think most people don’t realise how one sided this fight is. Toph’s sense of metal is so good that anything kuvira attempts would be thwarted. Like shooting metal strips to cuff her or a metal cable. Toph can easily bend that and redirect it away. This will come down to an earth bending brawl, and let’s face it, we all know who would win that. And also, I’ve seen many people bring up, but Kuvira is agile! “She is so much faster” Pls, she’s fast, but is she as fast as Aang? And airbender? Hell no. Only that level of speed could possibly catch Toph off guard. Toph was twinkle toes’ teacher, she has definitely sparred with him many times. If Toph can react to an air bending master, she can react to Kuvira’s strikes just fine.
@@dominiosss1474 Toph has fought Aang, and every time shown has continued to struggle with keeping up with his speed and agility. And just like metal, Toph has been shown with the capability to sense earth. However, even with this ability to sense earth and metal, she has none the less been hit and caught off guard by earth based attacks.
Being able to sense an attack does not mean Toph can always defend or avoid it. Toph can sense earth as well but has been caught off guard and taken attacks from the likes of the Dai Li and even then, she relied more on her seismic sense. Toph has trouble sense earth and metal that isn't on the ground and would most definitely have trouble sense and then evade/defending metal attacks from Kuvira

this is exactly what I bring up whenever somebody says anyone would beat toph. nothing less then the avatar state or perhaps ozai could contend with her
@@Spiceodog I honestly think without the comet, Ozai couldn't beat Toph. She would eventually land a kill shot on him and win the battle of attrition. Toph is a hard counter to almost anyone in her lifetime.
It comes down to Kuvira's reaction to Toph when she showed up in person. Toph singlehandedly took out Kuvira's groundforces and mech's. Kuvira didn't LET Toph leave, she intentionally didn't KEEP her there. Pressing an attack on Toph would have resulted in retaliation. That says it all. Kuvira feared Old Toph. In Toph's prime, Kuvira would have been a mild annoyance at best.
@The one who knocks I think the point he is making is that Kuvira didn't want the smoke with an old retired Toph, so she defintely would not want it against a young prime Toph.
Toph literally invented a new bending stile took down an entire fleet of airships full of firebenders during sosins comet and became the best earfhbender it the world all at the age of twelve
That argument is incredibly flawed though. She created it, that doesn't mean she mastered it. It would be better to say that she was so advanced with metal bending she suggested her daughters, the lead metal benders in the world at the time, "never got the hang of it." Suggesting she is well and above people who are considered masters at metal bending. Kovira certainly wasn't that high above Toph's daughters in metal bending skill, just combat ability. So it would be good to argue Toph would be well above Kovira's ability to bend metal. To restate this point; the metal bending we saw from Toph in ATLA required her to touch the metal she was bending, Kovira was basically working with liquid-y metal that was floating next to her head. It was innovated after she invented it, it would be better to argue that she is still one of if not the best metal bender in the world. And the airships don't have much to do with this. She used some metal as armour and pulled on some of the ships to redirect them. That has nothing to do with how well she would fight another earthbender. It would be much better to point out how The Dai Lee are some of the most skilled earthbenders of the time and Toph easily slaughtered them. How before she even reached her prime she could go toe-to-toe with Boomie one of if not the strongest earthbender at the time (who was past his physical prime but that doesn't make him weak by any means.)
@@haruhirogrimgar6047 in the comics, she taught children how to bend metal mid-air like how Kuvira does it. Toph IS can do everything Kuvira does and does it even better.

@@lizardo8675 My argument is because she created something doesn't mean she mastered it. There is plenty of other evidence she gained mastery over the element. Do you think the first people to ever draw became master artists? Do you think the first person to put some squirrel meat over a fire became a master chef? Was the guy who finally cracked the code on how to make a car that can propel itself a master driver capable of winning against anyone else in a street race? No, those are ridiculous assertions to make.
Toph is not hyped up because of her sass. She’s hyped up because SHE INVENTED A COMPLETELY NEW BENDING STYLE AT THE AGE OF 12; completely opening up a new sub-element to pass on. She’s a legend.
I think hes talking about her being overhyped in straight up combat. And to be fair a couple dai li almost took her down. toph does get a bit overhyped. Still awesome fighter but i think his point was that toph does have prescedent for struggling with fighters like kuvira and is not invincible as some fans tend to claim. She made metal bending but when shes as old as she is in this vs fight she wasnt actually all that great at it yet it takes her a bit to use it she doesnt have the same precision with it yet etc.
@@Akbar_and_Shaa Toph is at an extreme advantage in open space, Dali attacks didn’t phase Toph in the courtyard, but in close space their movements were more effective. Even then it took multiple to brea through. Simply put unless Kuveria could have looping attacks constantly coming from multiple angles Toph would win. Not to mention if she filled the battle field with dust she could regroup. I’d give Toph a 7/10 advantage
@@jamesh684 kuviras entire fighting style is attacking from multiple angles with numerous airborn metal projectiles. And since shes better at metal bending and carries numerous metal bands to throw off stance and separate people from the ground by your own statement she would win almost every time.
"Stone wall it with her ability, not through an acrobatic flip" well as someone who does martial arts, and has seen how Kuvira moves, Kuvira wouldn't do an acrobatic flip either. Her defensive style is that of a boxer and movement comparable to Muhammad Ali and/or Bruce Lee. The way it was stated in the video made it sound as if Kuvira would move like Aang. She's nimble like Aang but no were near as diverse in movement.
I had a problem with that too. He compared Kuvira to an airbender who could literally reduce their own drag and almost float on the earth surface. This was the only reason Toph had trouble "seeing" Aang. His full weight wasnt pressing on the earth. Plus like you said, Kuvira uses more of a boxer's fighting style. More ducking and weaving than flipping and twirling. She would be in almost constant contact with the ground, thusly she would be almost always "visible" to toph.
We have seen her do acrobatic flips when necessary tho - like in her fight at Zaofu with Korra. (I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just saying we have seen Kuvira evade in that way when necessary)
I noticed that too. It's weird to assume she'd acrobat her way away from an incoming boulder when we already see her deal with a boulder flying towards her by splitting it in half with her metalbending.
I think for tactics Toph is actually pretty good. She also likes to change the terrain to her own terms; she produced cover many times by making ground avalanches, blinding her opponents. She was precise enough to stop Azula from stabbing Sokka. She could sense earth/metal in mid air too, so long distance attacks from Kuvira just wouldn't work as with other benders. I strongly think Toph would win.
Remember when toph shows up to save everyone and kuvira just watches , that's because she knows if she attacked her she would of been obliterated and probably crushed by her own armor , this is why metal benders should wear platinum armor
Hear me out... I agree that prime Toph would definitely win in a 1 on 1, but lets not sleep on Kuvira too much. Personally, I think it would be quite a good match. We've seen Kuvira match up pretty well against a prime Korra so that in itself is pretty impressive. Yes, I have no doubt that Toph would win, but the fight would be a good one for sure
Round One! Fight! Kuvira, decked out in her metal armor gets into battle stance and prepares to unleash a barrage of attacks. Meanwhile, Toph just smirks and brings her hands together. A sickening crunch is heard throughout the valley. Unfortunately for Kuvira, Toph used her metal armor as a metal death trap, crushing her in one blow. This is why wearing metal armor doesn't make sense when battling other metal benders, kids. --------------------------------------------- It honestly baffles me how the writers thought that it was a good idea to make metal bending commonplace, and then have the world's armed forces decked out in something that can be commonly used against them. It's like arming people with crossbows that only work when aiming it up your own nostril; you're just going to get yourselves killed.
THANK YOU!!! FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT!!! Not to mention, Toph also survived a fiery attempt at destroying the world with pretty much nothing but the clothes on her back. She don't need no armor to save the world!
Personally, I think that Toph would beat Kuvira since she actually "converses" with the earth unlike Kuvira and a large majority of Kuvira's tactics would be rendered useless or ineffective by this ability to converse with the earth.
Even teen toph would. Teen toph was the champion of the arena. Teen toph invented metal bending. Kuvira is nothing against that. She is highly trained and motivated but Toph was and is on another level entirely.
@ron Teen Toph was pretty much a metal bending master at last season. Yailing did not beat Toph, that was just a fanfin not written by original authors that has lost its validity because original authors decided to continue series themselves so all continuation comics are not canon.
We must remember the comment that Toph made to korra when she was training her! Toph said, "Imagine me in my prime, I would have destroyed you." So taking this comment into account, I wonder how kuvira would actually fair against a younger Toph, in her best health and condition!
It wasn't 'made' weaker. Korra simply had a different mental approach to being the Avatar than Aang did. Aang was a much more naturally spiritual person, so those aspects of being the Avatar (connecting with the power of his past lives) came much more naturally to him (It could also be thought that he was a much more controlled individual, so the associated emotional outbursts that activated the Avatar state were much more powerful by necessity). Korra is much more grounded and simply sees the Avatar state as a power up, as opposed to a deeply sacrosanct bond to every Avatar since Wan himself (She gets better, as we see when her State slowly grows stronger).
Toph would win, I mean she literally can detect the smallest particle of metal within her reach. And bend it without making too much movement thus making it efficient and straightforward. Unlike kuvira would dance a lot of movements just to move the metal. I bet toph could even metal bend all metals in kuviras body.
Toph is a master not a god, she's didn't even beat bumi in the 1v1, I think a tie or spit decision is good. Kuviras unique style is def more that respectable for her to hand with the best.
I think a really important distinction is that Toph sees with her seismic sense, while Kuvira sees with her eyes. Toph can see the start of Kuvira's movement while her arms are still behind her back, while Kuvira can only see what is in here eyesight. Here, the metal armor of Kuvira gives her a severe disadvantage, because Toph can sense metal.
@@CelVini toph kids were the best metal benders around and she said both of her daughters didn't pick up metal bending "that well" ... imagine being the best and still got looked down on by the creator.
Bending Toph: Power and Creativity Kuvira: Speed and Precision One thing to note Toph stated that her daughter was never as good as her in metal bending. So that tells us she's equal if not better than Kuvira in metal bending as well. Winning point: Sensory, Only Aang or other air benders are Tophs over all weakness. You see Kuvira's style is all about openings--- evading and countering until she gets an opening. Toph's style is the perfect style to counter Kuvira's because Toph is a counter attacker. To top it off, she stays in position until her enemy attacks or lingers too long to warrant an offense. Making Kuvira doubt and think it off if she should attack or wait. "Doubt" which makes it even easier for toph to read her movements. I think toph got this 7/10
I would venture to say that even airbenders are no weakness for Toph. Before meeting Aang, Toph had never encountered airbending in a fight before, so it was new to her. She probably went on to become completely devoid of any real weaknesses as a fighter. People forget that Toph was only eleven years-old at the time of the show.
+Random she probably did. All I'm saying is that her fighting style due to her handicap is gonna find it hard to fight an Air Bender. She not only can't see the enemy, she also can't track him down due to them always flying around. And with gusts of wind throughout the area she will only get confused by the noise. She relies on the ground too much.
instead of just being angry like the rest of the comment section I will explain why toph is the best in my opinion. it's the scale on which she bends , the rest of the earth benders throw small to moderate rocks and metals (kuvira included ) while toph levels entire battle fields . SHE BENDS BIG and she does it with the same accuracy and competence as the other earth benders do with their tiny rocks
i dont think toph would win just because he invented metal bending she may invented it but kuvira mastered i mean teacher teach their students stuff to improve it more
In the fight scene between the boulder toph was able to detect his movement in milliseconds and literally made him do the splits by attacking in the time it took for him to put his foot down. Ku iras speed means literally nothing if toph can counter her attacks in less than a second.
Toph's greatest strength is in controlling the battlefield itself. Area denial, destroying the footing, boxing in an opponent that works with projectiles. All she needs is to force the battle into this type and things would turn upside down. Quickly and literally.
Exactly...as someone who fights like a boxer against someone that can throw rocks which you cant evade with simple little movement.... and tofe is also know to the Atake the STRONG STAND! What is needed to erthbanding in the first place... i think toff is disappointed in the metalbander becaus the not even understand the basics ...
I know this video is like 4 years old but I'm just curious why you decided to skip the actual encounter they had in LoK. When Kuvira and her army is attacking her daughters Toph comes in and lays out her men plus Mechs, points and says "You give metal benders a bad name" And then leaves. And Kuvira just watches. Now I'm not saying Kuvira was shaking in her boots or anything but she didn't even try to stop them which is saying something. IMO Kuvira had a much better chance at defeating that Toph than any other aged Toph and I still believe she stood no chance.

Toph literally held her own against a small army of earth benders, invented metal bending, and even when exhausted held her own against Mai, Ty Lee, and Azula. Toph literally held her own against 2 Avatars without even trying the only reason she lost to Aang the first time was she didn't know she fighting an Airbender. Toph also held her own against a blood bender and when Kuvira and Toph met on the battlefield you could see it in Kuvira's eyes that she KNEW she was outmatched. When your opponent doesn't even try and just looks completely defeated you know you've won and that's what happened when Toph and Kuvira met. Kuvira gave up when she saw Toph (not even in her PRIME) because Kuvira knew she was no match for Toph whose senses heightened her tactical abilities. Toph would let Kuvira exhaust herself because Kuvira is so proactive while Toph saved her energy for the right moment LIKE SHE TAUGHT AANG TO DO! Aang said it himself that Toph had been teaching him to not focus all his energy into any one move while trying to take out the metal monster Azula created to take down Ba Sing Se.

Kuvira's fast swiftness weren't due to her earth bending skills, it's because of her physical ability. She would use everything around her for her benefit in fight, but Toph used the true traditional Earth bending skills, specially, the neutral Jing. Kuvira never used neutral Jing. She mostly used positive Jing and rarely used to negative Jing. She was far more into fighting than grasping the essence of metal bending, whereas Toph went beyond her abilities. Through her skills of waiting and then striking, she even figured out metal bending! So, I completely disagree with you in this.
Plus considering that toph's fighting style is only really strengthened by an opponent's aggression, as it is something that Toph is naturally equipped to fight against, Kuvira is at a pretty bigh disadvantage
Daniel Hounshell correct: the more that Kuvira fights as Kuvira, the more at an advantage Toph is. Kuvira may be precise, but Toph can be so, as well. And, we've actually seen her fight highly advanced military type earthbenders prone to dodging in the Dai Li: while they were not to Kuvira's level, Toph's reaction to them shows an approximate of what would happen. The video author said one thing in particular that nails it: Kuvira lives and dies by her dodging skills. Toph is especially good at negating dodging skills.
Hello?! Y'all forgot that Toph have seismic sense right? Whatever moves Kuvira makes, Toph can see and sense it before making a move. She took down several earthbenders after she and aang was captured in that ring and beat them at their game. She invented metal bending. @@naturalcurls9740 She was a better Earthbender than King Bumi and Aang as well. As of the end of the series, Aang had yet to master Earthbending. In the Avatar state, the Avatar would beat Toph (as we can see ridiculous feats like Kyoshi literally earthbending a peninsula away). As for King Bumi, he was likely a better Earthbender when it comes to raw strength, but we see his feats at an old age while we see Toph arguably at his level when she's just a child. In her prime, it's doubtful that Bumi would have been better. Not to mention that once again, Toph has the advantage of being a Metalbender (and likely the best Metalbender ever).
One of the few things not covered is the fact that Toph invented metal bending. We are talking about one generation difference between Toph inventing metal bending and Kuvira being trained in it. As much as Kuvira may be a great bender, she was trained under the forms of Toph, which means Toph was the expert in all the metal bending that Kuvira may have employed. It is possible that Kuvira was good enough to expand upon this and improve metal bending, but Toph is also clearly a savant and brilliant bender. I would say that Toph was most likely better at both metal and earth bending. Although the reasons for choosing a very young Toph are given, it is obvious why this comparison would be flawed. I am glad that this is acknowledged by the author and applaud the decision that it is inconclusive. This is primarily, in my opinion, due to the fact that you are pitting a child against a fully trained and vastly more experienced opponent. Yet, with that said, Toph was very accomplished in her young age. it is clear that Toph would have been far more formidable in her prime (say, the same age as Kuvira). If Toph and Kuvira are relatively close in comparison when Toph is so young, it is probable that in her prime she would have been able to defeat Kuvira. I agree, however, with the original verdict. Since there is not enough evidence to make a proper analysis of the two in a similar state of age/training/show of skills there is not definitive way of proving who is the superior in a match.
That is a fallacious argument. That’s like saying James Naismith would beat Michael Jordan because he invited basketball. The foundation of that argument is flawed. Being the creator of something is not synonymous with superiority. Consider a video game for instance. The game developers are not automatically the best players of the game. There are other arguments for Toph that place her above Kuvira, but being the creator of metal-bending isn't one of them. One could say Toph’s skills and the way she used them are superior to Kuvira, but not under the context of her simply being the pioneer. (I think I should do this as a rematch with Old Toph)
I agree - assumedly, Kuvira's fighting style would be a bit more "evolved" than Toph's given that Kuvira trained her whole life with more techniques accessible than Toph did -- Toph invented metal bending. Also, as you stated, Toph was only 14 or less In the fights referenced. Kuvira was an adult, and by the time modern metal bending was taught, it seems like the different bending types had mixed more than in Toph's time (i.e. Iroh's lightning bending being a secret and derived from water tribe bending, and how in Kuvira's time, lightning bending is not really a rare occurance).
I think you're mistaken. If you know anything about martial arts or even human progress, you'll know that things are always improved with time. The kung fu of today has been honed and improved and expanded on for thousands of years. Sure Toph may have invented metal bending, but since she had no fore-bearers she probably (almost certainly) based her *metal*bending on *earth*bending forms which would have had inefficiencies and flaws. Thomas Edison may have invented the lightbulb, but take a scientist or engineer 60 years later and they could make you a way better one. Which is exactly my point, over the 60 something years since Toph invented metalbending others would have taken up the craft and improved upon Toph's metalbending. This is the metalbending that Kuviura learned. Earthbending on the other hand, well I don't think we've seen Kuvira earthbend enough to accuratly judge her skills in that department since she seems to mainly metal bend.
Well, toph does say that her 2 daughters never really learned metalbending to the extent or proficiency that she did, which is why su thought she'd taken all the poison out of korra but toph could clearly detect more, so we know toph holds metalbending advantages in some aspects, at the very least she's the most adept at picking up its presence. Whether she'd hold a combat advantage over kuvira in metalbending is obviously up for debate as it isn't explicitly shown how skillful she became
Kuvira might have been skilled enough to be equal to Toph in metal bending, but Toph seemed to have more power, so in an equal skill where both fighters are using the same materials during the fight, I would think that Toph would have a greater advantage. She could literally overpower Kuvira's metal bending and turn it against her. If Toph could do that at 14 years old, then in her prime, she might have been even more powerful.
Wtf, of course toph will be the winner. Why are you decide kuvira would win just because you are water bender? Hey, did you remember when kuvira was meet toph? She was just silent and released her enemies.
Lmao Kuvira wasn't afraid of her Why didn't they just go take down Kuvira if Toph was so much better? By ur logic they were scared of Kuvira cuz when Toph got there they still couldn't beat her
@@CustomFitted toph only wanted her family back if she wanted a fight she would just woop evryones asses she even said herself that once her family was back she wouldnt partcipate in the fight
Edit: tl;dr at the bottom, cuz, damn... You mentioned them, but it seems like you didn't consider Toph's fight with the Dai Lee when judging her bending. They would more closely indicate how Toph would fair against a less grounded, more maneuverable earth bender. Toph's mastery of neutral Jing compared to Kuvira's positive and negative is the key question here: can Kuvira's skill with the positive and negative overcome Toph's mastery of neutral Jing? Kuvira HAS to to attempt to overwhelm Toph's defense, because she can't play the waiting game against someone with Toph's power and technique. And remember, Toph's no fool; she has plenty of experience with Ty Lee, Azula, Mai, and the Dai Lee in facing speedy, mobile, and precise enemies. That will inform her decisions going into this fight. She might even neutralize Kuvira from the jump, like she did Ty Lee in the Earth King throne room. So can Kuvira overcome Toph's defense while avoiding her raw power? I don't think she can. We saw when she fought Korra, she clearly had the upper hand for a while with her speed and technique, up until Korra had her dead to rights when she hit the Avatar State. Kuvira doesn't appear to have the knock out power needed to seal a fight outright. When she fought a more healthy Korra, she held her own quite well, but still couldn't get the job done. We saw in her fight with Su her adaptability and quick thinking, but no definitive show of force. She beat Su by outsmarting and out fighting her. No real display of power. She would absolutely need that against Toph. Toph just has too many different ways she can neutralize Kuvira's technique, that Kuvira would need to rely on power more than speed or technique to counter Toph. Remember, Toph might not be able to see with her eyes, but in this fight she would have the advantage of full awareness at all times. Kuvira is quick on her feet, but she's still an earthbender, and Toph does have incredible reflexes to counter Kuvira's attacks. Remember Mai, and her dust ups with the Dai Lee. Anticipation isn't enough in a fight, you still need to have the ability to stick and move. Also, Toph's experience in actual combat can not be overlooked or disregarded here. It has to be a factor, because it can map out how Toph would approach a fight with Kuvira. Toph is an exceedingly capable and experienced combatant by the time of The Rift; and not just against Earth Kingdom insurgents and bandits like Kuvira, but against other skilled fighters, secret police, Earth Kingdom palace guards, and hardened Fire Nation soldiers. She'd have a general idea of what to expect from someone like Kuvira due to her fights with Ty Lee and Mai. By comparison, Kuvira's only experience fighting someone who could be mentioned in the same breath as a Toph is Korra, and her best outing was when Korra was far from 100%. *TL;DR* , I'll be damned if I didn't write an actual whole essay on this: Ultimately can Kuvira's skill, technique, precision, and speed, in conjunction with her mastery of positive and negative Jing, overcome Toph's experience, technique, and raw power in conjunction with Toph's mastery of positive and neutral Jing? I don't think she can. I think it will ultimately have to come down to raw power. Toph can just wait Kuvira out. If Toph decided to shield herself in rock armor or bury herself in a berm of rock, what could Kuvira do? If she created a dust cloud like she did in the underground arena, how can Kuvira counter? If Toph decided to pull a move like she did to Ty Lee, would Kuvira be able to react and adapt fast enough to avoid Toph's follow up? *TL;DR* again...jeez: I don't believe Kuvira can beat Toph because Toph can wait in a hole, and Kuvira isn't strong enough to dig her out.
Toph would be able to beat Kuvira in 5seconds using Kuvira bending against her Toph learned earrh bending from the original earth benders while kuvira learned from Toph children that another reason why Toph can beat kuvira in one attempt
I know this is a common movie thrope, but I'm going to ask it anyway: Can anyone surpass their parents/masters? If not, you're right. But I think we all agree that you can become better than the guy who trained you.
@@An0niem4 Depends on the situation. Perhaps an example in real life can explain it: Still, no scientist to date has even come close to achieving what Sir Isaac Newton did 400 years ago before he even turned 16. The guy essentially thrust science into a new age, and impacted so many fields. For most famous scientists you can sum up their most important work with their name alone: -Maxwell's Equations -Hooke's Law -Darwin's Theory of Evolution -Einstein's Theory of Relativity. With Newton, he created so many theories that people still debate what his most impact work is. Was it his theories in thermodynamics (called cooling at the time), theories of gravity, theories of fluid mechanics, etc. etc. No one has come close to having such a large impact in science since. Not even Einstein. There come people who stand out for one reason or another, and unless their children or students inherit that special trait, the student simply cannot surpass them. And I really do think toph was one such person. She was such a powerful bender. Probably shown to have the most raw power behind aangs feats in the original series. Perhaps buumi could be seen as more powerful at that time, its debatable. People forget she single handedly kept the entire hidden library afloat when Wan Shi Tong was trying to sink it. Let alone the fact that she was self taught. Someone who learns to learn by themselves never runs out of material to learn. By the time korra was born, she could see the entire world from her swamp. Kuvira is impressive. But her finesse would do little against toph. Toph can metal bend too, and cannot really be sneak attacked. People love to point out that aang got her with air bending in their first meeting. Those people forget that aang lost the rematch once Toph knew what to expect and wasn't expecting him to be an earth bender - once toph started teaching him - and she asked for her belt back funnily enough. It would ultimately become a match of raw power, and I fully believe toph would win.
At the age of 12 toph had a 1v1 with boomi... they where equally matched, kuvira in the series wouldn't stand a chance against boomi let alone toph, the inconclusiveness of this vid displays the lack of knowledge of either characters
According to your logic Zuko in season 1 was stronger than Azula because he defeated Katara without the full moon, and Katara defeated Azula. Or that Zuko is stronger than Iroh because he defeated Azula, and Azula defeated Iroh. Or that Azula is stronger than Ozai because Aang defeated Ozai, and Azula defeated Aang. It doesn't work that way. Kuvira perfected metal bending techniques that 14y.o. Toph didn't come up with yet. Toph's seismic sense allows her to see attacks coming for a split second sooner, but with Kuvira's speed she may not be able to react soon enough to all of them. We're not talking about power here, but about who would win. And power doesn't always guarantee you a victory. Toph lost a fight against an earth bender who was weaker than her, but exploited her weakness, which is definitely something Kuvira would do, especially considering the fact that Toph's blindness is not a secret for anyone anymore.
@@Spherrum Because at that point the characters were still developing in power. Yet toph at that young age was able to stalemate bumi. In her prime she would cream kuvira no doubt
Toph wasn't my favorite character, and I think Kuvira was the best villain in LOK, but you're over estimating her evasion a lot here mate. Reason is you're comparing the evasion ability of an Airbender to an earth bender, no matter how good kuvira is she will never reach Aang or Tenzin or even kid Milo. Air benders have a tendency to use airbending while evading, just watch Aang vs Toph in the ring the very first time. Can you honestly tell me Kuvira glides through the air and lands on her feet with barely and force? Can she stay in the air for an extra 2-3 seconds? Toph fought with someone a lot better at evasion than Kuvira, an Airbending master. Someone with both skill and the bending to make it near impossible to tag them if it's a 1 v 1 situation, and Toph tagged Aang... I know it's you're opinion and all but this is an objective fact Aang is better at evading than Kuvira, by literally miles, but you're scaling them as if their even? You've literally made Aang seem a lot weaker than he actually was which is what I had an issue with... I get it you may or may not want Kuvira to win but do you have to drag down Aang to do it?
Toph can see smallest basic living unit of life with her blindness than any human being, remember when she said to Aang about the ants? And Aang didn’t find it?
Imagine their fight: Kuvira will attack first with metalbending or earthbending, whatever she attacks with toph will be able to feel or sense it and skip or redirect it. Then she will be able to sense her next move and hit right in the place where to take her down. If that not enough she will act quick and hit another time/ times in the right places again and eventually take her down. Also she will be able to feel the metal on kuvira's uniform and use it against her which gives her even bigger perk and chance of winning. In the whole process toph will be focused, calm and confident in herself, and kuvira will be competitive and maybe even nervous or scared knowing toph's abilities. This whole thing may take around a minute in my opinion. To summarize, NOFU*KINGBODY CAN BEAT TOPH BEIFONG!😏
I think Toph would have crushed her using her own armor even before she attacked honestly. Her body has way too much metal 😆😂 Thats why she doesnt stand a chance. Her armor will betray her LOL 😆
@Tommy Natantiel Korra's avatar state was weak as sh*t, The people who are on par with her are probably Aang's avatar state and bumi (Her and Bumi actually fought and it ended on a draw).
Toph: (takes out Kuvira’s ground forces) Kuvira: (sees Toph and stares her down) Toph: (thinking) “I wish that bish would try me” Kuvira: (chooses not to die early)
@@leodadeal1240 Respect may have been part of it, but Toph is one of the masters of using overwhelming force as an equalizer. And while Kuvira is a master at precision...I think Kuvira was well aware that Toph would if needed have the very earth swallow her whole, while Toph grew a mountain around her to crash in like a tsunami
Nah, I think Toph would have crushed her using her own armor even before she attacked honestly. Her body has way too much metal 😆😂 Thats why she doesnt stand a chance. Her armor will betray her LOL 😆
So what your saying is kuvira and 14 year old toph would tie. Then by that logic adult toph would crush her. And in one scene when toph arives kuvira stood down. And I think toph in her adulthood she had learned lavabending also. This is my thought so if think kuvira would win that your choise.
Lava bending is a talent that you are born with. Just like combustion bending. Very unlikely, if she could use lava bending most likely her daughter would have use already
oh nooo, toph isn't lava bending user.. she made it clear when she met bolin in avatar the legend of korra. she said that lava bender is so rare.. and if she can do that. i think that she will demonstrate it, but nah.. i think no
Wait bolin and mako are brothers right, and if mako could bend lightning it means that their parents are of earth and fire bending blood, which brings lava?
“ You may have modified your style but it’s still the same element, and in my element no-one is overpowered me,” Toph starts choking Kuvira with her metal collar
This was great! Excelent analysis, but I think Toph could beat Kuvira with her seismic sense. Even if Kuvira makes lots of movements and has this aero style, we have seen Toph anticipating acrobatic moves, she has even stoped Ty Lee con Legend of Aang. She couldn't stop Azula in the volcano room, you are right, but that doesn't mean she could always loose facing an acrobatic oponent. And there is something else I want to say. Toph, as a 12 year old got a 50% of chance against a soldier... That's impressive If we had seen Toph at her Prime, I'm sure Kuvira could have been defeated in a few seconds. But, forget about Toph (Who we couldn't see at her best) vs Kuvira. Just try to think about how epic it could be a battle beetwen Kuvira and Bumi. Man, that'd be awesome
Kuvira is just flashy in her fighting style. I think toph can most def keep up because she can detect everything kuvira can bend. In her main episode she was able to sense an ant, kuvira wouldn't be able to see it. She has never needed to act quick like kuvira because she basically predicts movements with her ability
I understand this is a difficult fight, but (and probably too late for this) you should take Kuvira's victory over Korra as a grain of salt, that first fight was against a victim of Post-Traumatic Disorder, Korra wasn't nowhere near her best, even without the metal holding her down. The second fight was way too heavily on close-combat wich is Kuvira's specialty. Toph keeping up with Aang already shows she is more than capable to handle anything Kuvira throws at her, most of the best reaction timing comes from Aang, Toph's speed reaction is on pair with his. Kuvira isn't on that level yet (or at least, no speed feats from her come close to Aang's). Awesome fight to see, but Toph takes this in speed and power, Kuvira's precision may be good if she were throwing something other than metal, but Toph will 'see' and deflect every attack while abusing the field. Nothing in the show suggest that Kuvira could defend herself against Toph's most powerful AOE attaks, her agility can only take her so far. However, if you make the battlefield similar to the head of the colosus, then Toph won't be able to defend herself, Kuvira will be too close to Toph and will dominate her with her superior physical skills.
drakewiz she would.. if you recall the scene in the airship when Hozia was mounting a full on assault on the earth nation. Long story short, while toph was in the airship made of metal... she went full body amour. The fire bender at their most powerful were nothing but helpless. Yes kuvira like closed spaces.. but any space that allows toph the ability to bend kuvira would stand a chance.
Damilola Emmanuel and Toph is also very precise in her attacks, having complete control over anything that is earth, including sand and dust. One of her favorite tactics is controlling the field and the enemy by making earth doors and just juggling them with earth pillars.
battle starts: Toph raises a dust mist leading kuvira blind, gg Round 2: Toph goes underground and is virtually untouchable while she can see Kuvira on the surface and atack as if she was in plain sight, KO and that's a 12y old... I'd say only skilled blood-benders and avatars can stand a chance against her
Azula and yakone/amon are the only ones that have the talent/skill to match her, I believe, and other then thouse people airbenders can beat her but only cause they can just float
I think she stopped because of pure respect. She wouldn't dare fight against the Legendary Toph Beifong. Besides... being called out by her must have really hurt.
So you are telling me that Toph master of earth bending, inventor en master of metal bending wouldn’t defeat someone that isn’t a master earth bender just en mostly just uses metal. Toph can see the attack before it comes of course she would win this fight. Toph would over power her with metal bending and earth bending. I don’t see Kuvira rolling through a door and making a full metal armor suit for herself and being able to fight in that.
Creating something doesn't mean your the best. But Toph is just plain overpowered. Shes able to bend a thick plate of metal easily like its a part of her body.
@TH-cam rewind She has skills too but really she is overpowered. Shes flexed her bending powered a couple of times and the only other earth bender who is as strong as her in bending is Boomie. Their battle had to be stopped or the city could be in ruins.
Toph Invented And Mastered Metal Bending Also Toph Was Tied for Best Earthbender regardless of Metal While Kuvira was almost Restricted to Metal and doesn't seem to have other Options
The problem is that this is a bad matchup period in terms of fighting style toph while not outclassing kuvira, has an advantage. In combat (both fictional and historical) there is a bit of a warfare triangle per say. Pure defense will counter agility and tactics because it doesn't matter how fast you move if you can't harm your opponent. A historical example of this would be a tank. Pure defense is countered by lots of firepower. You need explosives to deal with tanks and similarly izai would be a huge problem for toph, being able to suppress her defense and give her no room to move around with large blasts. Then firepower is countered by agility and tactics again. For example a sniper has extremely high firepower but can't do much if a troup of soldiers with rifles got close to him, but if that sniper was instead a tank it would be a very different story Kuvira is the earth bending epitome of agility and tactics, whereas toph is much more of the tank variety with rock solid defense and counters. Toph was a would class Earth bender not just because she invented metal bending but because she was simply the best and defending and countering which was the only style of earth bending known at the time. While kuvira could evade for a while, she has zero firepower, relying on small sheets of metal for her offense so if toph simply created a protective shell and used her sense to safely attack kuvira there isn't anything kuvira can do. She doesn't have the firepower to deal with tophs defense and if she dismantled it somehow, toph could simply build another bigger shell
I'm Sorry to intrude on such a touching moment, but My Name is Chief of the Magical Custody Enforcement Unit, Lahar Corast, And I'm afraid you will be coming with us, Jellal. You Have many Crimes to Atone For.
If they touch the ground, toph will wreck them. The only chance of beating her is is a master airbender or a MASTER waterbender. How can you fight someone who can predict exactly what you're gonna do three moves in advance.
@@AntoineBandele As soon as you touch the ground you're finished! Korra wanted to hug Toph, and Toph immediately put up a stone wall! And mind you, this is a fraction of a second! And if you're an airbender you better make sure you don't touch the ground at all, but Toph's hearing skills increased like crazy! She would hear those airslices come her way.
@@ABC-ABC1234 Yeah, it's quite ironic to think that the only people who can beat her are Zaheer and Amon lol. Both of whom are new generational types of benders haha. One never needs to even touch the ground and rest from flying, can fly infinitely, the other is a blood bender who to some extent can spirit bend and take away people's bending. Edit: Obviously the Avatar as well, with Avatar State of course.
@@dominiosss1474 Actually any water bender master who mastered bloodbending, can stop the "blood bending twitch" if they trained sufficiently against it. Kinda like Amon vs Tarlok when they were training when they were young boys, remember that scene. As for Zaheer, that would be increasingly difficult for Toph, since she can't see at all. However I think the one thing Toph would do is encase herself, so his airmovements can't hurt anyone. But you're right that would be hard.
I think Toph's bending skills far surpass Kuvira's, period.. however, Kuvira's hand to hand combat skills and "surgeon like" precision when it comes to utilizing her metal bending is extremely intuitive and I could see Toph being quickly overwhelmed in a closer proximity duel. Her accute sensory awareness gives her a distance advantage against larger bending assaults, so Kuvira would have to close that distance as quickly as possible and make her moves in a rapid fire succession of small precision based attacks to vital areas.
To me, Toph vs Kuvira has the same ending as Tenzin vs Zaheer if the red lotus didn’t show up. It would start with the upstarts(Zaheer and Kuvira) doing decently well, maybe even scaring some people watching into thinking the others will lose, but Tenzin and Toph have something Kuvira and Zaheer never have: The training of the original benders. We know for a fact that Tenzin was taught by Avatar Aang, who was taught by the monks and by the flying bison. Toph was trained by the Badger Moles, and as far as I know no one else in the series has that level of connection to TRUE earth bending. Let’s look back at Tenzin vs Zaheer, Z was pretty good, his martial skill combined with rudimentary air bending was actually impressive, but we all know he would have lost to Tenzin in a battle of Air vs Air. Same thing with Toph vs Kuvira, Kuvira will impress the hell out of Toph, but at the end of the day, no earth bender(other than the avatar) has the feats and training to match Toph. Kuvira is fast, sure, but so is Toph and Kuvira can’t hide from her, so eventually... she’s done
Toph's seismic senses were everything. The fact that vibrations travel around 15 times faster through the ground is how she beats the most agile of fighters. On top of that no one has her power over earth/metal bending. I would guess she could do a metal version of the lighting return attack.
Who would love a show about Toph at her prime?

(Must have been several 1000 tons that damn building) I'd definitely say that prime Toph would have obliterated Kuvira. She would feel the metal coming her way. And Toph's seismic sense was lightning fast. The moment The Boulder put his heel on the ring, he was a goner. Not to mention, that Kuvira mostly used metal bending with the metal plates on her armor. I could see Toph using her own armor against her.
Galin Ivanov I came here to say pretty much this
Against a non-bender, or against one who wasn't as proficient, I'd agree that was a very valid tactic.
At no point in her life would Toph ever lose against Kuvira. Honestly even LoK Toph would probably beat Kuvira.

MrAstrothousand98 I don’t get what you’re saying ?
cyrhas marshall I'm saying Kuvira has a higher proficiency to metal bending than Toph
All she did was make a unique style of metal bending that depended on precision as opposed to power, but Toph most definitely has that level of precision aswell can she actually uses it a considerable amount against foes she could easily overpower to win.

nah no chance, toph wins every time. In her prime and as she is in ATLA.
Almost as if she's walking on water, I wonder where she picked up that technique at. lol

Old Toph can probably swear
If he tried to attack toph during operation beifong, the series will end fastly HAHAHAHA
@The one who knocks I think the point he is making is that Kuvira didn't want the smoke with an old retired Toph, so she defintely would not want it against a young prime Toph.
@The one who knocks You really like missing the forest for the tree don't you.
@The one who knocks hopefully one day it will.
Toph literally invented a new bending stile
took down an entire fleet of airships full of firebenders during sosins comet and became the best earfhbender it the world all at the age of twelve

She made metal bending but when shes as old as she is in this vs fight she wasnt actually all that great at it yet it takes her a bit to use it she doesnt have the same precision with it yet etc.

@@Tsenovin Always! please say it again.
We must remember the comment that Toph made to korra when she was training her! Toph said, "Imagine me in my prime, I would have destroyed you." So taking this comment into account, I wonder how kuvira would actually fair against a younger Toph, in her best health and condition!
People tend to forget she was facing a Korra who was poisoned and suffering from ptsd.
Not very revelant when even the heal Korra needed avatar state and the daughter that taught kuvira was close in skill but nowhere near Toph
Yes, Toph did face a slightly poisoned, PTSD suffering Korra. However, so did Kuvira.
The avatar state was made significantly weaker so korra could use it as casually as she did, especially against kuvira.
Toph can see the start of Kuvira's movement while her arms are still behind her back, while Kuvira can only see what is in here eyesight. One thing to note Toph stated that her daughter was never as good as her in metal bending. So that tells us she's equal if not better than Kuvira in metal bending as well.
Winning point:
Sensory, Only Aang or other air benders are Tophs over all weakness.
I think toph got this 7/10
Toph is also weak to blood bending.
Nate Phan Everyone is.. Savage Sal I'll think about it. I don't exactly have +Antoine Balde's Creative genius -_-
I think every one aside from Avatars and strong blood benders are weak to blood bending
Remember: this is Toph while she isn’t in her prime. Think about what our girl can do while she is in her prime...
instead of just being angry like the rest of the comment section I will explain why toph is the best in my opinion.
it's the scale on which she bends , the rest of the earth benders throw small to moderate rocks and metals (kuvira included ) while toph levels entire battle fields . SHE BENDS BIG and she does it with the same accuracy and competence as the other earth benders do with their tiny rocks

Toph's greatest strength is in controlling the battlefield itself. Area denial, destroying the footing, boxing in an opponent that works with projectiles. All she needs is to force the battle into this type and things would turn upside down. Quickly and literally.

Tarek ayk kuv is tophs daughter. So kuv knows her weaknesses like sand. Kuv can bend sand everywhere. And remove her armor so toph cannot feel her in the air. Assume that kuvs speed is on par with azula, she could evade, throw sand like gaara and use wooden items to kill her own mama.
Tarek ayk toph can crush her armor before kuv takes it off and then it will crush her body.
Tarek ayk tophs second daughter could also feel every movement and still lost against kuv. Right?

How if Toph gonna feel Kuvira throwing metal sheets at her?
Not to mention that Toph is a lot more agile than we got to see in the last airbender series. During Sozin’s comet when she surrounded herself in the metal armor, she threw some kicks and moved around faster than we ever seen before.
I can only say I understand this video because he is using a younger toph who was like what 12-13 years old?.... imagine toph when she was older ( let's say around 30 ), at her very best, her prime... I can't think of another earth bender that could stop her....so in my opinion it's a no brainer Toph Would win this fight..... your using a kid who full abilities when it comes to earth bending and physical self isn't even at its peak, especially her physical self....again she is a young girl, a child, imagine her with the double the years? how can Kuvira be able to stop her?
SM Sai He always uses the original Last Airbender characters, not sure why. Cause they're all being put against much older characters from Korra's time who have had more time to train and improve.
Had he made a vs battle with Old man Zuko, he'd probably put him up against a much younger opponent giving him the speed advantage and making Old Zuko lose
@@slattical6072 No, that's using incomplete information, which makes the entire comparison flawed to begin with.
Gary Smith the comparison is flawed. But they’re arguing about him using character that we see. He’s comparing the aang we see to the korra we see.
Toph would humiliated kuvira in 5 seconds, kuvira is good but take on the greatest earth bender in the world also the creator of metal bending, good luck for that kuvira
Yeah fr like even if kuvira shot her metal things at toph she’d probably bend them away like they were nothing and even if kuvira did normal earth bending she would still have been destroyed since toph can basically take any attack without consequence
Klutch Boi yeah she is basically the best of the best when it comes to earth bending or even bending in general
Klutch Boi yep she’s literally the 🐐 hands down, no questions asked abt it

I don't need to give a long explanation on why it'll never be inconclusive go and re-watch the blind bandit and operation beifong, once kuvira saw toph she didn't even dare try to attack and toph's an old lady
It wasn't only Toph tho. It was Toph with many other skilled fighters.
@@pointseventhree Many? You mean Bolin? Maybe two if you take the hippy dippy sky bison into account. Three if you want to add Opal, but that's really stretching things.
Point Seven You act like she didn’t have an entire army with her... you remember the one that toph single handily took out? It was just like 7 earth benders against kuvira and her army and she still knew toph had her beat
@Evan Kuhn Even so, that isn't a direct comparison between Toph and Kuvira. It does say that Toph's group overpowered Kuvira's soldiers, but does not show what would happen in a battle between the two.
Point Seven Listen you’re the one who tried to use toph having a couple of people with her as an excuse for her not fighting and I simply told you were wrong. Secondly out of all the feats we see from both toph and kuvira I think we can all agree who has the advantage when it comes to raw skill and talent. kuvira could maybe almost hold her ground but toph would destroy her.
Toph would smack her up, she's literally the one who started metal bending, not to mention that she started that at like what, age 11.
She was 12, and an inventor of a style doesn't mean you are the best at it. Hama invented blood bending, but Katara quickly beat her using her own style.
That doesn’t mean she wouldn’t lose to Kuvira or get a challenge out of her, Y’all overhyper toph alittle too much
PIERRE LABROCHE At the same time she said her daughters didn’t pick up on metal bending the way she wanted them 2 implying she is way above their skill but her daughters are seen as some of the best metal benders of their time and Su yin and Lin are just as good as kuvira at metal bending Su Yin lost because of Kuviras combat skills .
Tyson Sluymers Stop comparing an old Ass toph who could barely make a rock avalanche without her back killing her Meanwhile Kuvira is out here Thrashing everyone she fought
Y’all downplay Kuvira for no reason, She literally beat Su yin With no difficulty & Su was taught by TOPH herself & then Su taught Kuvira everything she knows & still lost against her
Toph beat korra who was rusty & had poison in her & nowhere near 100% but Kuvira thrashed Korra Way more & that was after korra had NO poison in her & was still rusty & not 100% & just like toph she did it with almost absolutely no difficulty
Tyson Sluymers & You’re talking about 12-14 year old toph who basically around her prime in terms of bending, im talkin about old toph, ik young toph would more than likely win but Kuvira in terms of Fighting & bending is practically like the Azula Of earth/ metal bending
& even when she fought 100% Korra in the finale she still held her own & Korra’s a fully realized avatar so Kuvira bare MINIMUM is Greater than Old toph until i see proof that she isn’t
Absolutely not a split. Toph wins. Kuvira simply cant beat toph in earthbending
Considering there are like 60plus jings are we only ever here about 2 of them. I think you are inferring a bunch.
Yes kuvira is quick on her feet and her fighting style is up to par but Toph can deflect any attack kuvira throws at her and will bury her. Besides King Bumi and the Aang, she is the greatest earthbender
@@naturalcurls9740 She was a better Earthbender than King Bumi and Aang as well. As of the end of the series, Aang had yet to master Earthbending. And if you mean prime Aang, he still could not match Toph's Earthbending, as Korra was the first Avatar to learn Metalbending.
Toph at her prime could have defeated many strong benders she slapped 2 avatars in her life time lmao
True. She shat her pants xD
Lmao Kuvira wasn't afraid of her
Why didn't they just go take down Kuvira if Toph was so much better? By ur logic they were scared of Kuvira cuz when Toph got there they still couldn't beat her

*TL;DR* , I'll be damned if I didn't write an actual whole essay on this:
Ultimately can Kuvira's skill, technique, precision, and speed, in conjunction with her mastery of positive and negative Jing, overcome Toph's experience, technique, and raw power in conjunction with Toph's mastery of positive and neutral Jing? I don't think she can. I think it will ultimately have to come down to raw power. Toph can just wait Kuvira out.
If Toph decided to shield herself in rock armor or bury herself in a berm of rock, what could Kuvira do? If she created a dust cloud like she did in the underground arena, how can Kuvira counter?
If Toph decided to pull a move like she did to Ty Lee, would Kuvira be able to react and adapt fast enough to avoid Toph's follow up?
*TL;DR* again...jeez:
I don't believe Kuvira can beat Toph because Toph can wait in a hole, and Kuvira isn't strong enough to dig her out.
This comment alone is better than the video itself. Thanks for your dedication and time.

For most famous scientists you can sum up their most important work with their name alone:
-Maxwell's Equations
-Hooke's Law
-Darwin's Theory of Evolution
-Einstein's Theory of Relativity.
Toph is a better bender then booming because she could metel bend with the offense and defensive as boomi

Divine Moyo exactly! Toph could keep up with Aang, who’s evasion skills easily surpasses that of Kuvira.
Toph can see smallest basic living unit of life with her blindness than any human being, remember when she said to Aang about the ants? And Aang didn’t find it?

Imagine their fight:
Kuvira will attack first with metalbending or earthbending, whatever she attacks with toph will be able to feel or sense it and skip or redirect it.

That's impressive
If we had seen Toph at her Prime, I'm sure Kuvira could have been defeated in a few seconds.
But, forget about Toph (Who we couldn't see at her best) vs Kuvira. Just try to think about how epic it could be a battle beetwen Kuvira and Bumi. Man, that'd be awesome
Juan Francisco Avila Gandarilla bumi would win
Plus Azula was much more powerful than Kuvira.
Kuvira is just flashy in her fighting style. I think toph can most def keep up because she can detect everything kuvira can bend. In her main episode she was able to sense an ant, kuvira wouldn't be able to see it. She has never needed to act quick like kuvira because she basically predicts movements with her ability
It even took a sec for aang to see it
I understand this is a difficult fight, but (and probably too late for this) you should take Kuvira's victory over Korra as a grain of salt, that first fight was against a victim of Post-Traumatic Disorder, Korra wasn't nowhere near her best, even without the metal holding her down.
Truth
drakewiz she would.. if you recall the scene in the airship when Hozia was mounting a full on assault on the earth nation.

Azula and yakone/amon are the only ones that have the talent/skill to match her, I believe, and other then thouse people airbenders can beat her but only cause they can just float
@@thebravegallade731 toph had a fight with bumi and it ended in a tie
Agreed. 100%
Toph slaughters Kuvira.
& tbh we aren’t just saying Toph as being a fan boy. She’s 100x op than any bender
Kuvira practically surrendered when toph showed up cause she knew there was nothing she could do about her. Why is this even a debate ?
Says who?
she didnt surrender, they just escaped. Kuvira didnt fight them all because they left so quickly and Kuvira was still on the cannon.
Kuvira didn’t want no smoke
I think she stopped because of pure respect. She wouldn't dare fight against the Legendary Toph Beifong.
Besides... being called out by her must have really hurt.
So you are telling me that Toph master of earth bending, inventor en master of metal bending wouldn’t defeat someone that isn’t a master earth bender just en mostly just uses metal. Toph can see the attack before it comes of course she would win this fight. Toph would over power her with metal bending and earth bending. I don’t see Kuvira rolling through a door and making a full metal armor suit for herself and being able to fight in that.
Toph would bend her neck off because of kuvira's armor Darth vader style
Kurvira master's metal bending
Toph invents metal bending
Conclusion=
Toph wins
Creating something doesn't mean your the best. But Toph is just plain overpowered. Shes able to bend a thick plate of metal easily like its a part of her body.
@TH-cam rewind She has skills too but really she is overpowered. Shes flexed her bending powered a couple of times and the only other earth bender who is as strong as her in bending is Boomie. Their battle had to be stopped or the city could be in ruins.
Toph Invented And Mastered Metal Bending
Also Toph Was Tied for Best Earthbender regardless of Metal
While Kuvira was almost Restricted to Metal and doesn't seem to have other Options
@TH-cam rewind Toph MADE that bending style lmao.
@TH-cam rewind first, that was a joke. Second, how did u even know Kuvira made that? Zao Fu literally had that thin metal stuff style.
For example a sniper has extremely high firepower but can't do much if a troup of soldiers with rifles got close to him, but if that sniper was instead a tank it would be a very different story
Kuvira is the earth bending epitome of agility and tactics, whereas toph is much more of the tank variety with rock solid defense and counters.
Yes and also Toph completely outclasses Kuvira
@@testpermanent417I'm actually team Kuvira
For me toph is more of an assassin with high defense, she'll wait for the right moment and strike for the kill
@@craigpeoples9883 cool?
@@testpermanent417Because Kuvira is a way faster metal bender and Toph needs to touch the metal to bend it
Toph is the coolest earth bender ever X3
wow fairy tail :D
Jellal is that you? Hahahaha where's Erza

Michael Lee agree and besides kuvira is wearing a lither metal armor cant imagine toph smiles when she feel her full of metal loool
Geez_ Mahn a master waterbender that can bloodbend too!
Kuvira is fast, sure, but so is Toph and Kuvira can’t hide from her, so eventually... she’s done
Even Kuvira is afraid of Toph,,,,,, of course Toph would win
Or maybe Kuvira respects toph... she's a legend
10:39 Toph literally invented metal bending she didn’t have a teacher like Kuvira
Toph is blind because if she wasn't she would make the Avatar look like a child
Cap if she wasn’t blind she’d be a worst bender bc she want have her sensing abilities
Rick Dime yeah it’s her seismic sense that makes her so incredibly talented also just her raw skill at earthbending
@@MrRedbull901 But what if she could see And have her sensing abilities
rule breaker than nobody would be alive in the fire nation
rule breaker lets hope that never happens
Toph's seismic senses were everything. The fact that vibrations travel around 15 times faster through the ground is how she beats the most agile of fighters. On top of that no one has her power over earth/metal bending. I would guess she could do a metal version of the lighting return attack.
