The purity and perfection of revered Panditji's ragdaari is something to be emulated.I remember in the context of raga Poorvi, a rare raga of our Bishnupur Gharana,Raga Poorvi Kalyan,a mishra of Poorvi ang with Kalyan,yet distinct from Puriya Kalyan.

Absolutely divine dhrupadi rendition which is perfectly matched with the greatness as an artist like Panditji. Now a days like many other ragas, Purabi also become extinct as most of the present day's artists avoid this ragini to play for unknown reason. This ragini was also favourite to Pt. Ravi Shankar as he mentioned this in his autobiography 'Raag Anurag'.

The only reason for not rendering this raaga, as I perceived is its very difficult to keep the identity different from raagas like Puriya, Puriya Dhsnashree and very dignified treatment given to Shuddh Madhyam. Only a Pandit/ Masters can keep it. Rather others shouldn't attempt n adulterate the sanctity of the raag. These doyens of Indian classical music - super human musicians , like Panditjee, Ali Akbar khansaab, Bhimsen Joshi, Amirkhan, Kumarjee have laid down a bench mark, at a very high altitude which is almost impossible to reach by a human beings. We were lucky to witness the glory. Thanks to all of them and the God.
It's sad to me that Raaga Poorvi and others like Todi don't get played and appreciated very much in the west, probably because they sound "dissonant" to western ears due to the tight clusters of svaras. But that's part of why this Raaga is so beautiful and powerful.
Don't care about others. If you like Raaga Pooravi, then its your pride. Others don't have the capacity to understand many things. Pooravi is one of my favourite raaga, and the depth of the raaga makes it so strong.
