Nice. The switch on my '08 SD just started flaking out (killing the bike on downshifts now and then). Time to break out the soldering iron and heat shrink!
This does not work on the newer Husqvarnas ('17+) and maybe KTMs. There is a circuit in the sensor that requires more than a simple resistor short across black and pink. Ultimately, I just took the magnet and shrink wrapped it to the sensor and tie-wrapped the whole thing up near the airbox. Cost is zero, time is 30 min.
scott taggart this was a 2017 and it worked. I saw another guy who did it on an older model and the resistor had to go across two different wires. Thank you for the input!!
@@JustinBiddix Tried it on all combinations of wires. Mine has the pink, black and green. It's possible the the ECU is sensitive and you got lucky and I didn't or that the resistor value has to be exact. All I can say is that it did not work. There are Facebook posts that say the same thing (that it does not work). How did you come up with the resistor values and decide which wires to jump? HIt and miss or ???
does your way work for a 16? do you have a video or links to where you got the info? I'm trying to purchase one that won't work on first gear but turns on fine and id like to try your method before I purchase a nightmare motorcycle .
@@dereckrodriguez9688 I'm not sure what your first gear problem might be. Yes, attaching the magnets to the sensor will always work since that is what the kickstand is doing - positioning the magnet next to the sensor. For provided reliability, remove the sensor from down on the frame and position it up somewhere where it's protected. Older bikes (possibly the 16) can often just have the two wires connected (i.e., no magnet required) - you have to check for you bike on a web-forum.
Wow Thanks. Why did you use a resistor instead of a jumper wire? The 3 wires on my kickstand sensor are Green, Black (center wire) and Pink. Not sure which is positive or negative. So should I put a resistor on my Pink and Green wire, leaving the black untouched? Thank you for your service.
How many ohms should I connect to KTM790adv? The current sidestand switch is broken and you are trying to connect the resistance. Where do you connect the three strands of resistance?
That was a custom crankcase vent I made. I sold this bike a while ago but I think I vented it from the valve cover and the crankcase. T those together and run the house down beside the shock and out the bottom like a motocross bike would have theirs
I am thinking I might try to make a resistor plug if I can get the same plug fitting for the bike side of the connector. This way I can just carry my own dongle in the event I need to disable the safety feature. It is still a safety feature after all and on the road it is a good one. Nice work on this, thanks!
I am really not sure. I would just buy a box of resistors on Amazon and try them till you find what works. That’s basically what I did. I do not have a lot of knowledge dealing with the electrical systems
Danny fallis yes I think the abs dongle is just resistors. Not sure what size but it could be checked with an ohm meter to find out. I never looked into that specifically on mine. I removed my abs lines and ran straight brake lines on mine
The side stand switch goes faulty which will make the bike think the side stand is out. With the sidestand out the bike will shutdown when in gear. I've had mine cutout (990)and it refused to run again when in gear. It leaves your stranded unless you have a 2.2k resistor with you. sucks.
KTM 990 SM 2008, worked like a charm! Red + Black by me. 2.2 k Ohm, 0.5 w. Thank you so much!

Thanks Justin. Worked for my 2022 KTM 690 Enduro R.
You are welcome! Glad it worked for you
Which pins you connected since on newer versions are different pins and connector
Thanks man. I just fixed my bike with your help
I am glad to have helped! Thank you

@@scotttaggart thank you so much for that valuable information.
Thank you So much I really appreciate it, I did what you did with my 2016 690ktm
Thanks
This hack worked on my super duke 990
you are welcome, thanks for sharing that it worked for your 990!
Thanks, worked like a charme! 🙏
Thanks!

you are welcome!
wow thanks for the info man. was about to buy that dongle
Cool, work fine on 690 My08
Hi i have a problem can i contact you .
Engine stops when i put it in gear after the sidestand delete. Thanks
Thanks for sharing this info...can i do this on my duke 390 2018 make??
Hello
I have a KTM 690 from 2007 i have deleted my side stand but the engine stops when i put it in gear what should i do? Thank you for your help
what is that "garden hose" by the linkage? Don't have that on my 2015.

If that sensor or switch goes bad can it cause a no sparking problem for the bike ??
I’m not an expert. But maybe. I would try this to see if you get spark back
does this work for ktm 390 adventure?

Thanks for watching. And best of luck to you
How many cooms should I use for KTM790 commercial stand? The color of the cable is white, yellow, and red, which one should I tie? Get back to me.

So can someone check a abs dongle and see if it just takes a resistance to access offroad abs too?
Danny fallis yes I think the abs dongle is just resistors. Not sure what size but it could be checked with an ohm meter to find out. I never looked into that specifically on mine. I removed my abs lines and ran straight brake lines on mine
Where do I get the Little thing for the by pass the Wire ?
order on amazon. they come in a pack of multiple. they are very inexpensive
Justin Biddix what will I type in for this exact one for RC 125
Do you know how many Watts your resister is? I see the 2.2 K Ohm comers in a few watt ratings.
Jim Craig I used a 1/2 watt
What does this solve ?
Mostly a Friday evening with nothing to do.

tanks dude
Why 2.2k ohm?
Could prob use a different one. I do not know the answer to this question. I just know it works
That's what the 'brain' expects to see when the side stand is up.
Pwedi sa duke 390 master
Not working on 2021. Any one got solution for this case ?
They must have out smarted us in 2021. There is probably a way. But unfortunately I do not know it. Good luck to you
2020 model; HAL sensor; resistor does NOT work
ta feito muito obrigado abraço
